iPhone Pwnage Guide: PwnageTool/QuickPwn/WinPwn: Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone/3G

iphone jailbroken and unlocked yet never up dates since 3.0 maybe 3.1 My boyfriend has the phone at this time. Anyhoot. Major software issues. If I upadate software to the jailbroken 3.1.2 will it fix any issues we're having such as, RUNNING FREAKIN SLOW and ipod app crashes, freezes and half the album covers match the actual album. Anyone have this issue? How did you fix it. I REALLY don't want to Re-jailbrake and unlock anything.

Hello Folks

I am new to this forum and yesterday I brought a used Iphone from craiglist. I already have a At&t connection but I havent signed up for data plan and I dont want to sign up for data plan.

I have a call plan contract with At&t and I would like to use the same sim card to use Iphone.

I would like to know is there is an issue if I use the different number of same carrier to use Iphone (because this phone is in my friends name and he was worried about this).

I would like to hear from you people and let me decide what to do next.

your suggestions and guidance will be greatly appreciated.

not sure I understand,...why would you use craigslist to buy an iPhone from your " friend " I think if everything is legal you should take in to the AT&T store and ask them. Its not like they are going to take it from you.

That would be stealing and we all know that people who steal eventually get caught

Does anyone know if I can unlock my iPhone?

It's on ver 3.1.3 and on 5.12.01. Is this unlockable?

I tried looking it up but there's so much clutter on old bootrom, 3G vs 3GS and different websites trying to sell me unlocks.
 
I have an iPhone 3GS with 3.1.2 and 05.11.07 that I've jailbroken with pwnage tool.

Trying to figure out how to do the unlock. What I've gathered from multiple sources is that blacksn0w is the way? Any issues with this? If there are, can I just restore the already jailbroken phone from the "iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Custom_Restore.ipsw" file in iTunes?

This is the EASIEST MOST BASIC METHOD It will upload itself to the phone and then jailbreak it and then all you have to do is click the logo to install Cydia and/or unlock.

If you upgrade to 3.1.3 by accident you MAY be able to downgrade back to 3.1.2 for the purpose of jailbreaking but you will still not be able to unlock the phone as you were on 3.1.3 before.

What about bluethooth keyboard on the 3G?

Hi, I have pwnaged my Iphone 3G to iOS4 with some issues (I think baseband upgrade option is not working but don't want to try more). Wallpaper and app backgrounding is now possible on the 3G, Is there anyway to activate the bluetooth keyboard support? Or is this hardware related?

what's the diff between the way poste in the OP and blakra1n? Is one better than the other? blacka1n seems a lot more simpler..
 
Is there anyway to unlock a jailbroken iphone without wifi or a data plan?
is there some way to unlock a 3G with some software straight from the computer?
my iphone 3G does not have a data plan and i also broke the wifi antenna
please help me
 
The WHOLE Jailbreak routine doesn't work for my iPod Touch 2G 3.1.2 MC.

Not entirely sure why, just as every other person with similar problems... :confused:

At least we have Blackra1n and Spirit (and various others) :)

Hi everyone,

I am no JB or unlock expert. I currently have a 3GS 3.1.2 old boot rom. This was originally JB with Blackra1n no unlock as i am with O2. After just under 12 month I have never needed to update to any new iOS or iTunes (the motto "if it aint broke dont fix it!" springs to mind).

So a year on and we now have iOS 4 out! HMMMM! tempted i must say!!

I have done some digging over the net and various forums. Here is what i have found:

Firstly for all of you that already have a JB iPhone i strongly urge you to go and backup your SHSH's using TinyUmbrella this is now updated to 4.0.1 so grab what you can. If you cannot get them from Apple then use Cydia setting under Advanced options. All mine are saved from 3.1 - 4.0.1.

If you want to know how to JB but dont know what with due to your iOS then go here and use the wizard http://www.iclarified.com/jailbreak/

Also you can get previous iOS from iClarified to restore back to. I am unsure on whether you need SHSH's for these or just do it through iTunes.

I would urge everyone to go back to 3.1.2 or stay there before JB to iOS 4 till when the new JB comes out and wait PATIENTLY!! Unless your a developer or actually know what your doing!

As i say i am no expert to this. I apologise if this offends anyone.

I bought an unlocked iphone 2 years back from a guy in New York. I am using Tmobile service and never had any problem. About my phone.

Version: 2.2 (5G77)
Carrier: Carrier 2.9
Model: MB046LL
Modem Firmware: 02.28.00

The reason I would like to upgrade is due to lack of apps that support OS lower than 3.0.

I have cydia installed. Not sure what it does!

I would like to upgrade to any version higher than 3.0. Please tell me the steps or point me to the right post. Any help is highly appreciated.

If you have SHSH's saved you can update to any FW you want. Problem is with 4.1, 3G cannot preserve Baseband (verify that), and with 4.0 or 4.0.1, the performance on the 3G is horrible. So you might want to just update software to 3.1.3 if you have SHSH

Thanks Kayan. I got all confused on how to save SHSH. Do you suggest using Umbrealla? Also, after I save my SHSH, how do i upgrade, using itunes? Sorry for being so dumb, but I would really appreciate if you can point me to a link or give some more details.
