iPhone Pwnage Guide: PwnageTool/QuickPwn/WinPwn: Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone/3G

I am a new iPhone 3G with iOS 4.1. And I tried everything to jailbreak my iPhone and ether the Ipsw file is wrong or when I try to unzipped it, it don't go into the Ipsw file.
I don't know what I am doing wrong and really need help with this. If there is anyone whom can help me with this...... Well I would be very happy.

As I can see no one can help me on this site. **** who was to know changing to iPhone would be so hard to get help or answers maybe I should go back to balckbery. They are all in to helping each other and I always help others when they needed help

Help!!!!!!!

Guys,

I have the first generation iPhone that I got approximately two years ago. I originally used ZiPhone to unlock/jailbreak it back then but today I decided to finally update the software from 1.1 (?) to 3.1.3--it prompted me to in iTunes. Now my phone looks like it's restored back to it's original state. Before this update it did perform a backup. How can I get this back to how it was earlier?

And enjoy losing your unlock using that jailbreak. Oh and Cydia doesn't work on 4.2 anyway so what's the #@$%# point?

so all I have to do is download the PwnageTool and follow the steps then I can have my iPhone 4 unlock right?
sorry I feel like an idiot not knowning what to do at all..and I don't want to mess up and I hope I can get my phone to unlock because I'll be travelling over sea soon.

Any help is much appreciated!
 
iClarified is the best source of documentation at the moment

Your best bet is go to iClarified.com/jailbreak. They have a wizard for every device that'll take a lot of the guess work out of jailbreaking. If the wizard isn't current they have a list of tutorials that are updated very quickly.

Thats a quite a guide, it took me 5 min to update to 4.2 then jb and upgrade baseband to 06.15 , then load cidya and unlocked via ultrasn0w. great affort putting up this complete noob friendly guide. :)
 
I have a simple question bothering me. I guess it's simple.

I have an Iphone 3G with the 04.26.08 baseband and firmware 3.0.1. USING WINDOWS 7!

I want to go to 4.2.1. I read on iclarified that I can.

From what i understood since I need to unlock, is that I dont need to update my BB.

So here is my question:

Do I have to shift+restore to a custom 4.2.1 made with Pwnage Tool 4.1.3 unlock edition WITHOUT the BB update THEN use redsn0w and flash that SAME IMAGE AGAIN...

or

I can go straight to redsn0w with the 4.2.1 official firmware and just deselect on the menu the "install ipad baseband" option?

Which of these methods will allow me to use the 4.2.1 without hassles and unlocking it?

Since im asking questions: does the shift+restore update the baseband?

modem firmware 05.15.04

i'm using redsn0w and afterwards install ultrasn0w. when i put the sim it says no service.
 
I don't think you can unlock with that firmware. You need to update the firmware to the ipad one I believe.

Can anyone still make an argument to use redsn0w over Greenpois0n, assuming redsn0w is 'tethered' and GP is in fact untethered?

German iPhone back to original (4.1 / BB 6.15.00 )

He guys, hope you can help me with this.

Here's the thing. I've got two iPhone 3gs. One from the netherlands, one from germany. I would like to use the german one in netherlands too.

The german one is unlocked, so it works except for the push notifications and the GPS, since it has the 6.15.00 baseband. So i would like to go back to its original state. I've downloaded the restore.ipsw and Tinyumbrella. Is that all i need to get it back to normal 4.1 without the ipad baseband? Or could i just restore to the official 4.2.1?

Or could I just clone the dutch one to the german one and the restore? Googling this results in chinese phones, so i have no idea if it's even possible

I've searched a lot, even on this site, but could only find ways to unlock and jailbreak it, instead of restoring it to the original state

Since in Germany the unlock by T-mobile i don't need to jailbreak it anymore

For the notification issue, u can install push fix from Cydia, if a certificate is not available try again till u get one
for the baseband, there is no way back, u can't install normal firmware and in the future will only have chance to use custom firmware through DFU mode.

i have untehtered unlock with green poision

ok so i tried to do jailbreak with redsnow 0.9.6 rc8 and followed the letter to the tee on updating baseband firmware.. i downlaoded 4.2.1 custom firmware and also the ipad 3.2.2

so i ran redsnow, picked the 4.2.1 custom ipsw.. but like all the tutorials so nice and neatly demonstrated i dont get the option to update ipad firmware (even tho this is for the iphone 4).. it just gives me option to do tethered boot - a bit useless as i have untethered with greenpoision

i need to update my firmware to 6.15. so i can utilise ultrasnow... help!! pls
any1 in london can do this for me i will pay you....

Sorry, there's no way u can update ur baseband. Baseband update to iPad is for iPhone 3G/3GS

I never updated the version since I didn't want to lose my jailbreak or tethering.
I'd like to have the find my iphone feature from 4.2. Is it as simple as updating to latest version with itunes, then using GreenPois0n?
If not, how would I get 4.2 and still remain jailbroken and keep tethering?

there is a 4.2.1 jailbreak out with Pwnage tool...its what i used and it preserved my 1.59.00 baseband.

Install Ipad baseband is for 3G/3GS only. base on the baseband your provide above, your phone is an Iphone4. Therefore, you can upgrade your phone with ipad baseband. You either wait for the unlock to come out or go with the discuss Gevey sim under this thread.

Maybe someone can help me out here real quick. My iP4 is still on FW 4.1 with a baseband of 1.59

Is there a full-on guide on how to update my firmware to 4.3.1
(and jailbreak) whilst maintaining the old baseband? The tutorials up on iClarified seem to be separate and their methods overlap each other instead of being companions.

I know the updated ultrasn0w is going to be released soon, but I'd just like to get set up for now.
