Okay,

I have a 3G. I have an AT&T Account, but not an iPhone plan. With Activate checked, I get no reception. Without it checked, AT&T thinks I want to activate an iPhone. I want the phone to think it's activated, so I don't have to buy an iPhone plan. I've already been flamed on here about this, and still need help.

Thanks

Hi everyone.

I tried jailbreaking my iPhone 3G (2.1 firmware) using PwnageTool on my iMac, using this tutorial.

Everything was going well until I got to the point where I had to shift-click on the Restore button on iTunes and choose the ipsw. file it had created. I located the file, clicked on it, it started extracting and when it got to the end, I got the following message.

"The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1600)"

I tried to Google it but the results I got were not very clear so I decided to ask you guys for some help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Yani

Hey, please

Hey guys!!
I'm just writting this cuz I really need to get in touch with a professional in Cydia or something.
This is problem:
I've recently jailbroke my iPhone with QuickPwn and I just put the Cydia program.
But then while I was searching for a package (I think that's the name of the "programs" that improve your iPhone) I notice it was a usefull one, i don't remember its name but it should allow to sync my iPhone with 2 libraries but instead it just block (at first i thought they were gone) all my apps and music.
I got afraid of it and just uninstall it, then when i sync again in iTunes appeared something saying "There's a new iPhone bla bla... do you want to recover (with backup) or not" I just "recover" my iPhone and sync. My apps were able to use but my songs and videos still not appearing, I know they're inside my iPhone cuz the space the songs and videos occupeded are still occupeded. I enter to my iPhone "hard disk" but i would like to know where the hell are the videos and music in order to delet 'em or something.

Please HELP!!

Well i sorted it last night. All of a sudden it found 3.9 and 4.6, made the new software, saved that on my desk top, then had some issue getting it into DFU mode, then got the white screen error 2001 and it saying it has not worked. Found a thread saying shut down itunes restart it and bingo....It worked.

And it appears to have sorted the echo callers were getting.

D

hi sorry to bother but how did you get it sorted out?

CRAP!!

I wanted to "upgrade" my mate's 1st gen (1.1.4) Unlocked iPhone to version 2.1 and use the Pwnage 2.1 tool to do so. (Tried Quickpwn 1.1 first, but that doesn't seem to unlock bricked 1st gen iPhones...)

As I personally own a real 3G iPhone, and have left the unlocking / jailbreaking scene behind me after the 1.1.4 on my first iPhone, I haven't been really up-to-date on hacking the 2.x firmware.

So, after repeatedly putting this 1st gen iPhone in DFU mode, and restoring the official 2.1 firmware, I have made countless "Custom_Restore_IPSW's" for this iPhone, and every time whilst restoring the iPhone with the "Custom_Restore_IPSW" made by PwnageTool 2.1, encounted an error (6) in iTunes telling me that I can't restore...
But, selecting a real IPSW does work...
Tried the same procedure over and over again on another Mac too, but with the same exceedingly annoying result!

So, I Googled.... and have found similar issues with people using PwnageTool 2.1 with iTunes 8.0 running on Mac OS X 10.5.5.

Before I will downgrade a Mac to Mac OS X 10.5.4, I ask you lovely people...: Can anyone confirm this? Is my issue purely Mac OS X 10.5.5 related..? EDIT: Or iTunes 8 related??

I hate this kind of thing.... a mate asks if you could upgrade his iPhone... seems piece of cake... seen the iClarify tutorial.... 4 hours later still having no results! So, there goes another quiet evening.

how do you select a real ipsw? cause im having the same problem
?

I tried firmware 2.0.1 to jailbreak. It was successful. However it doesn't show the 'install' and 'cydia' ICONS. So I tried to jailbreak again using firmware 2.0.2 It got to the browsing section and when I choose next, it crashed. Anyone experienced this? I also tried to use firmware 2.1 but I guess QuickPwn doesn't recognize it

what should I do?

I want to jailbreak, but have one thing holding me back. What do I do if I want to restore back to a normal iphone? is it as easy as plugging into itunes and hitting restore? Do you have to delete anything you've done or downloaded with installer or cydia?

I just updated my itunes . I jailbroke my 3g using quickpwn. However, after it successfully jailbroke the phone, there's no cydia / install icons. All I'm seeing is a pineapple when iphone starts. Is it because the new itunes version doesn't allow old firmware?

am i screwd?

put it into DFU and start the process over again, repeating until you get it to work.
it sounds stupid, but i had to JB/quickpwn mine 5 times before it worked properly.
dont give up!!!! you will get it

Getting this iPhone going

My friend from Estonia handed me his 2g iphone when he bought a 3g on a recent trip to Italy. I'm in the UK and i'm on an O2 business contract, but would like to use this handsed.
I hooked up to iTunes and stupidly updated the FW, after that is was locked out!
I unlocked the phone using QuickPwnGui120 no problem (now on Version 2.0.2(5C1))

I thought "great" and proceeded to drop in my 02 sim. However, while the phone is unlocked, it won't see any network??

Can anyone advise please ???

I have tried, numerous times, and have gotten the iPhone 1600 error message after trying to upload my custom 2.1 ipsw. Can anyone please shed some light on this? I have a feeling it might have something to do this time with iTunes updating the phone to 2.2.

Please let me know.

Thank you in advance.

Jeff

Hi,

I just bought a jailbroken iPhone 3G (firmware 2.1) from eBay last week and thinking about upgrading to firmware 2.2. I'm using the iPhone on AT&T right now using my plan for Treo 750 (unlimited data). Now my questions are:

1.) Do I need to Select or Deselect "Activate the phone" when using PwnageTool?

2.) After restoring the custom IPSW using iTunes, will iTunes ask me to activate the phone; if so, then what do I need to do?

Thanks in advance

Nix

I went to the link to quickpwn my phone and it said that its not for the experianced hacker. I read the readme file and im kinda scared to go through because of the warning. What do i need to do to not mess anything up?

for some reason i cannot seem to jail break under my new macbook pro unibody ... any reason for this?

Yeah, it's not supported yet. :) I read about that it's only the new MBP and MBA machines. I'd link ya but I'm on my iPhone. :)

QuickPwn

This is for those that are not planning to restore. It’s not clear what the activation state is after the process therefore, I only recommend this for those that have a contract carrier or an unlocked phone already. This is also perfect for those that pwned and did not install Cydia as it will result in Cydia being installed. If you are on a 2g and need to unlock, you can do so with bootneuter, but this will not activate for you. If you are on a stock device and using AT&T or a contract carrier, this is the perfect jailbreak for you. You will not lose your contacts or have to do any backups. Finally, if you are going to restore anyway, especially if you need to unlock a 2g, you may as well use winpwn or pwnagetool.

If I jailbreak with qwickpwn, I cant restore????

Or I shouldnt restore???

Or am I missing something???

Yeah, 2.2 Firmware may disable ability software unlock. :)

Being that you have a phone already upgraded to 2.2, I think you are SOL. Sorry. :(
