Did you try the Mac OEM 4870 ROM?
It works fine right out of the box on most 512 cards.
Please post again link to it. Anyone tried it with HIS 512 MB card ?

Yeah, I did try this one - it works as long as Im with 10.5.6 (performance very low, seems to be w/o driver - but I get a display and can logon). When I update and the drivers for the 4870 are "built-in" I can´t logon to Mac OS anymore, blue screen - nada.. brrrr
(I´m a freshly converted pc-guru, I´m helpless with OS X)
What's your card ?
XFX cards do dual DVI. I don't believe it's working on any of the others. I have a 1GB XFX I flashed (no injector stuff) and dual DVI works great in OS X.I bought the card mentioned at the beginning of this thread, because I think it will work better than the one I returned (the one I mentioned earlier.)
Just to double check, this card DOES do dual-DVI now, right?
Right?
Also, to install the injector, all I do is install ATY_init?
I am owner of an XFX 4870 512MB - thats a useless piece of money atm![]()
Mhh finally - I got it running, BIOS+EFI worked, but I need a helper card (ATI Radeon 2600HD) to boot, now I need to figure out how to connect to my display. Sometimes I can login to OSX on first boot with display connected via HDMI, normaly I need to have the other card connected via VGA.
Is there a rule on how to connect the second card, adapters (HDMI, VGA) or any hint how to get rid of the second card ?!?
Did you try with just the OEM ROM?
The "helper card" thing is supposed to be with Nvidia. Don't think ATI works same way, at least not between 2600 and 4870.
I've not had any issues running a flashed 4870 xfx card and an Apple 2600 at the same time to drive three screens. Two connected to the 4870 and one connected to the 2600.I thought I would be able to use the 2600 and 4870 together to drive multiple monitors.
So I'm screwed? There is absolutely NO way to get a second DVI port working on this card that I bought at ALL? Why is this card even recommended in that tutorial?
As far as I know, the Saphire 1 Gig cards are all single display.
Most people only use one display so they don't care and it ended up in tutorial that way. (I didn't write tutorial....I hate that it says you need 2 cards in while flashing, utter baloney)
The ORIGINAL Saphire 512 board with red ATI cooler could run Dual DVI.
