I ordered iMac 5K late 2015 also with 16GB (2x8). Is it possible to mix it with two of this to get 32GB?
http://www.amazon.de/dp/B00UVOVV12/?tag=macr05-21

or do I have to change it completely (4x8 GB of Kingston) to get max. performance?

I mixed the ram on my late 2013 iMac and never had any issues. I am not sure on the new ones tho it would be nice to get some clarification.

I don't see it being a issue if the ram is the same speed and voltage. I ordered 16GB from Apple sort of regretting doing that. That's what I did last time and just added 16GB

All the modules will run at the lower modules's speed (1867 MHz).
Why on earth buying expensive and slow memory to Apple? For a cheaper price than the Apple option, you could order 32 GB of fast memory elsewhere...

Yes, that was stupid. It was the first time I ordered an iMac and didn´t check it before and now it´s to late to cancel.

Will this ram work with the current 16GB ram being shipped with my machine? Also how much of a system increase do you really benefit from running faster ram ?

The benefits are a few percent of performance increase on cpu demanding tasks (encoding, compressing...).
For the Ballistix modules, because of their shorter timings, I don't know... On previous gen iMacs, if you mix Apple memory (1600 MHz, CL11) with 1600 MHz CL9 memory, the modules all run at 1333 MHz CL9 (because Apple modules can't support CL9 at 1600 MHz).

Thanks for trying to answer my question. I not ram savvy I am really confused on what I should get I just want something cheap speed of the ram is not really a issue but I want it run at least 1866.

OK.. so should I buy the Crucial CL13 or 10?

Im confused!!

Wait, seriously? Nothing but DDR3L works? Damn, guess I have to return some RAM :(

I'm not 100% sure, but I did order the exact memory listed above and also ordered some DDR3L. Planning on returning the DD3 as I don't think it will work. (ordered the DDR3, then realized it was ddr3.) Also, someone else mentioned as long as it is DD3 & 1.35V it will work.

If you mix with Apple modules, try to find 1866 MHz CL13. And if you don't mix, you can afford faster modules (CL10 or 2133 MHz).

crap >.< do you happen to have a link on hand ? I was ordering these based on recommendation for the 2014 5K week ago =/

these correct?

I'm on the same boat my friend. I never had so much problem ordering Rams as this time. These I think are good but someone said these are CL10 and Apple is using CL13. I'm still waiting as well to see if mixing them is ok.

I'm confused as well as to which Ram to buy!!

ya, its been mixed responses =/

I wont be mixing, and would order 32GB fresh, if that would make a difference with these?

If you mix, perfect match with the "Apple RAM" indeed ;)

Yes, faster and almost the same price :)

Almost same price yes, but I would have to buy 2 of them.. twice as expensive lol..

What happens if we mix CL13 with CL10? The module wont work at all or just wont run at 1866MHZ and rather 1600 or something?
