I just called and they say that the Touch's ship on the 28th and that they should get them on the 29th or 30th.

I called my local best buy and they said they have everything but the touches which they won't get till the 16th......OF OCTOBER!

When you order from apple...can you slect nect day shipping...?

28th means that it will be shipped on the 28th. But depending on the shipping service you choose then the date varies.

I got an estimate of Oct. 9-11th.

Can you pay extra for next day shipping if you order from apple....if not what are the other shipping options? Thanks!

How hard do you guys think it will be to get an iPod touch at an Apple store on/around the 28th? I'd like to buy in person but I'm considering just ordering online.

Who knows? Maybe they won't get enough to meet demand, or maybe they will. Or maybe they think they are getting them around the 28th, but turns out a little later.

I always order online because its just easier than driving down to an apple store (although there's like 3 nearish my job). Plus my coworkers get jealous when the shipping clerk brings up a package with an apple logo on it.:D

same as you Jockmock... I'm in france, that's why...
But you'll see, I'm sure they will send it before the 28th... If we are lucky, we'll get it before the WE (time to play with it!! :) )

To everyone curious about the credit card being charged, etc. I called Apple about this yesterday. They said that as soon as you make the purchase, they "authorize" the credit card by taking the amount out, which in my case was around $415. They then put the money back in either the same day or the next business day. That would explain why some people are seeing it charged right away, and why some are not. They then take out the "real" amount as soon as it is shipped.

As a side note, when it came to the time in the coversation when they say "We're glad we would answer your question, is there anything else we can do for you today?"
I said: "Well, not unless there's anyway you could tell me when these will start shipping?"
They say:"No, we really can't. We aren't sure. We wouldn't want to get your hopes up and let down anyway. We can tell you that the absolute latest possible day they would ever ship is the date that is specificed on your Order Status page."

Nothing we didn't already know, just thought I'd take a chance, seeing as how I almost physically can't handle waiting any longer!

PS. I ordered mine right after they were announced, ship date of Sept 28th, delivery date of Oct 2nd.

Someone on here made an interesting note. How many thousands and thousands of pre-ordered were made, that all got the ship date of September 28th? There's no way Apple is going to ship thousands and thousands and thousands of pre-ordered all on one day...Which leads me to believe that they WILL start shipping early!

That's great news! looks like the girl knows Ipod's will be sent before the 28th, but she can't say it as she doesn't want to get our "hopes up and let down anyway"
... what do you think about that...?

i think that is amazing

you guys are killing me, LOL. I want this touch so bad!

and with all this speculation its just making the wait worse, lol.

Wow. The "Content Creator" for the iPod touch features manual is listed as FrameMaker 6.0.

FrameMaker 6.0 came out 7 years ago, and runs on Mac OS 9 or below.

In that manual, there is a picture of the touch in iTunes.. It has 14.64GB free. I think that's what we 16giggers can expect to get on our new ipods

Doesn't that seem like a lot of space to take up for a device like this? Especially for a device with so many disabled features.

Maybe they actually are disabled, as opposed to being absent.

Steve: "We know a lot of iPod touch users wanted to use our great Weather and Stocks applications, so we're now turning them on!"

*x-files music*

The 16GB model have 15.25Gb real space... Then the software takes up more space. It is not impossible that 14.64 GB is what it will have when we get it.

Note that in the manual there is information for the calendar. Is it not slated?

I'm going to Washington DC from September 22 - 26.. do you think there's a chance I might get one from an Apple store there?

I hope so... I know Apple likes pushing deadlines.. like me:D

I just called, and the rep ("Michael") said it the most up to date information he could give me was that they would ship on or before the 28th, with the 28th being the latest. I pushed him pretty hard, but he wouldn't say anything more.

blah...i guess thats what they are told to go with. Ships before 28th, nothing more. :(

My AMEX available credit has dropped $422.21, the price of the Touch.

Shipping soon? Quite possibly.

When did you place your order?

I placed my order at 12:21PM PDT on September 5th, and my card hasn't been charged yet. Mine should be one of the first ones shipped.

Hmm... If you had just ordered it a few moments ago, I would say that Apple was just placing a hold on the funds, which they always do, before removing the hold. They will then charge your card right before shipment.

However, since you ordered it several days ago this is unlikely. It's odd that you'd be charged before me, though, since mine was ordered a day before you.
