iPod Ready to ship: By September 28th

Theres a widget to be downloaded from the apple site nirvana, in which you input your order number and it will tell you how many days to go. Mine is delivered by October 3 *sigh*
I have Oct 2-4 with standard shipping.
ETA: I'm still curious about the guy who says he has 9/11 as his shipping date. Will it change tomorrow, or will it ship ?!?

Mine said 9-11 too, but the company I bought it through (Best Buy) updated my shipping records and now it tells me the between the 29 and the 4th of October, I have 2 day delivery or sumthin. So I bet Apple is shipping sometime between the 23 and 27 to get it to all the stores and fill the pre orders, as it usually takes longer for another store to get the product after the Apple store first.
How do you guys have a tracking number already, did all of you buy it through Apple? As soon as someone gets a Fed-Ex or UPS tracking number, post asap, that means it's in the shipping process, that means that it has A. already been shipped to major retailers and B. is on it's way to the lucky one...

I definitely agree with the above posts, most people will probably recieve them between the 20th and 28th. And my birthday is the 30th, so if it's sometime around then, i'll be a very happy chappy
As a person who never used an iPod, who thought they were overpriced and under featured, and as geek, I apologize. I will succumb to the iPod touch. The only good thing about it not being out til the 28th is that I was born on the 29th
On a side note: These forums are awesome. Quick responses and sensible comments.

Great widget!! I have been charged (UK) and ordered as soon as they went up on the online store.....

My order fracks up the widget, well, it doesn't but it shows the dock not the iPod as thats first in the list.
click on where it says delivered soon it will change to either March 10th(like mine) or oct. 3rd(like what it says online)
I'm in the UK and paid by credit card with estimated dispatch of the 28th and my card has not been charged yet.
My wire transfer just got confirmed, ships by 28th, delivers on 1-2oct

To everyone curious about the credit card being charged, etc. I called Apple about this yesterday. They said that as soon as you make the purchase, they "authorize" the credit card by taking the amount out, which in my case was around $415. They then put the money back in either the same day or the next business day. That would explain why some people are seeing it charged right away, and why some are not. They then take out the "real" amount as soon as it is shipped.
As a side note, when it came to the time in the coversation when they say "We're glad we would answer your question, is there anything else we can do for you today?"
I said: "Well, not unless there's anyway you could tell me when these will start shipping?"
They say:"No, we really can't. We aren't sure. We wouldn't want to get your hopes up and let down anyway. We can tell you that the absolute latest possible day they would ever ship is the date that is specificed on your Order Status page."
Nothing we didn't already know, just thought I'd take a chance, seeing as how I almost physically can't handle waiting any longer!
PS. I ordered mine right after they were announced, ship date of Sept 28th, delivery date of Oct 2nd.
Someone on here made an interesting note. How many thousands and thousands of pre-ordered were made, that all got the ship date of September 28th? There's no way Apple is going to ship thousands and thousands and thousands of pre-ordered all on one day...Which leads me to believe that they WILL start shipping early!
