Not a mac but its what I got so I figured I'll try it.

Core2 Quad Q6600 (2.4Ghz)
Asus P5WDG2 WS Pro motherboard with 4Gigs DDR2-533
Nvidia 7950GT 512MB
73GB 15K SCSI boot drive, 36GB 15K SCSI scratch/temp
Adaptec U160 SCSI controller
Vista 64bit
CS2

29 seconds (29.31 to be exact) :)

Wow, I ran this test 2 weeks ago in my Dual G5 and now with my MacPro and these are the results:

Dual G5 2.0 / 1 GB RAM / CS2 - 4.35 mins
MacPro Dual 2.66 / 3 GB RAM / CS3 - 0.31 mins

Really impressive!

This test is very dependant on memory so the difference you see here is mostly due to lack of RAM. I'm willing to bet your dual G5 might be under 1 minute if it had 3-4gig ram. Well I'm guessing but I know it really wants RAM.

LOL i know.

People think the next Mac Pro is going to blow away the current REV of the Mac Pro.

No I just think I will have similar performance for the same price as the base Mac Pro. The current REV of the Mac Pro is the Quad 2.66. At the same price, an eight-core Harpertown system can be offered. That is what I am waiting for. I won't be a fool and spend $1000+ for eight-cores.

Hahaha, that's awesome. You say it so perfect. I love it.

3mins 8 seconds

And that's one a 3 week old Mac Pro, 2.66 2GB Memory with plenty of HD space
running CS3

Seems dreadfully slow compared to others..

This test is heavily ram limited. You pretty much need 3+ GB or else all you're testing is how well the scratch disk works :)

MacPro 2.66ghz quad, 5gb RAM (3gb for PS), 138gb raptor Raid 0 boot, 232gb scratch disk

Retouch Artists CS3: 37 seconds
Retouch Pro 8bit CS3: 16.7 sec

Test complete!

1 hour 58 minutes 59 seconds

under 2 hours :D

Windows XP SP2
Athlon XP 2600+ (1,92 GHz)
1 GB RAM (DDR-400)
Epox 8RDA6+ Pro Board
250GB Hitachi (no RAID)

I am waiting for the new Mac Pro. :D

18 seconds and change on my PeeCee:

Q6600 quad @ 3.33Ghz
4GB memory @ ~1140Mhz
Hitachi 7k250 boot drive and Maxtor Diamondmax 10 300GB scratch
Vista x64

I'd tell you guys the results of my powerbook, but my girlfriend says shes "too busy" to run it right now as she's browsing facebook .

I ran this test twice, once on CS2 and once on CS3. I restarted before both, just to make sure it was an even and fair test.

eMac 700Mhz
80Gb HD
1GB RAM

CS2 10:49

CS3 15:42

I thought initially, that CS3 was going to be faster, as there were a few seconds gain on each step I timed where there was a progress bar. At the end of the Hue/Saturation stage, it was 3:20 on CS2 V 2:58 on CS3.

After the Shadow/Highlight stage, they were back pretty much even and then on Gaussian Blur, the race was over!

I doubt a lot of you guys even had the bother of seeing progress bars :D

PC ($1250)
CS3
Core2 Quad Q6600 3GHz
4GB PC6400 Ram
2x 320GB 7200rpm Samsung Spinpoint T
GeForce 8800 GTX

24.5 seconds

Anyone spending thousands of dollars on a Mac Pro primarily using it for Photoshop is wasting money

Just upgraded the HD and ram...ran the test twice, 55 seconds. I am happy.

CS3
MBP 2.16GHz C2D
Mushkin 3 Gigs ram
Hitachi 7K200 7200RPM SATA
History state 1
Memory=100%

Upgrade cost $300 and almost as fast as a Quad PPC

Leopard CS3 on Mac Pro

Has anyone done the speedtest benchmark with CS3 on Leopard vs. Tiger, and on a Mac Pro? Just curious if there is any noticeable speed gain or loss.

Thanks!

Leopard Test--Leopard is 17% faster!

MacPro 2.66ghz quad, 9gb RAM, 138gb raptor Raid 0 boot, 69gb PS raptor Raid 0 scratch disk, Leopard 10.5

Retouch Artists CS3: 47.6 seconds (History 20, cache 7)
Retouch Artists CS3: 32.9 seconds (History 1, cache 4)
Retouch Artists CS3: 38.4 seconds (History 1, cache 4, 10.4.10)

Retouch Pro 8bit CS3: 16.1 sec
Retouch Pro 16bit CS3: 22.2 sec

No speed up for Retouch Pro test with Leopard over 10.4.10 unfortunately. But the Retouch Artists test was nearly 17% faster on Leopard!

It was painful to see that you even bothered with the test. It's like a Volkswagen Beetle showing up at the drag races.

Newbee - first post - result

G5 Power Mac 2.5 Quad + 8gigs ram + 7800gt gpu.

Time - 41 seconds.

In CS2

Considering 'steam driven' mac am very happy with that time:)

Mac Pro 2x2.66
4GB RAM(only 3 can be used in CS3)
250GB boot drive and empty 500GB scratch disk
History States=1
Cache=4
34 Seconds

Leopard

I run it with my 3GHz Quaqd 7Gig RAM x1900xt CS3

32 seconds.

My ex 2.66 6 GB Ram did it in 36 seconds.

Also, in the the Xbench test my 2.66 was faster than the new 3ghz with same X1900 but 3GHz I more gig of RAM.

So, my 3ghz is not slower (thanks god) , but I don't believe you can tell the difference with the 2.66 in real time working. I don't think its worth the extra $$

Tried with Leopard. Same configuration as last test:

28 seconds. 4 seconds faster...

Anyone else with Leopard?

EDIT: Sorry, didn't read before posting...

Macbook

my first post.

so i ran the test on my Macbook 2.0ghz CD w/ 2 GB ram, upgraded 160gb HD (segate ST9160821AS). Also ran tests on both Leopard and Tiger.

Leopard time: 1:21.46
Tiger time: 1:18.39

and Tiger ran 3 seconds faster.

Oh yeah, both are running CS3, same version.

Leopard on the PPC

Dual 2.5 Ghz G5 4Gb
ATI Radeon 9800XT
250GB SATA drive
Leopard 10.5
Photoshop CS3 Extended v.10.0
Retouch Artists Speed test
Result: 51s

I was quite happy with that.
Didn't test under Tiger but Leopard feels faster so I'm liking it.
