Seems strange. Try restart the computer and hold down the "D" key to do a diagnostics check. If it pans out you can try to do a fresh install.

9.2s - little difference whether PS scratch was set to SSD or RAID0 HDs.

ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Angelbird 512 GB SSD

OS X 10.10.4 with Photoshop CC 2015

16.19 seconds

Got to say I was hoping that it would stomp on my 2009 Mac Pro, but only a 2 second difference.

First page test

Mac Pro 4,1 => 5,1
2x 3,33 6 core Xeon X5680
32 GB RAM 1066 DDR3 ECC
SSD Samsung 850 PRO 512 GB on Apricorn Velocity
GTX 960 4 GB (PC edition, not flashed)
OSX 10.10.5
CC 14.0 x64

Result with "Use Graphic processor" ON: 8"98
Result with "Use Graphic processor" OFF: 8"33

(chrono with cam, no manual)

what do you think?

That's the time it should be

Right, so I modified my system the other week. Here are the new test results:

Mac Pro (Mid 2010)
2 x 3,33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon
48 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ECC
ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB
Angelbird 512 GB SSD

8,51 seconds. Happy days!

Do you mind to share what did you modify?
My old setup is actually just a few posts up. I changed the processors from 2 x 2,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon to 2 x 3,33 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon. I also stuck in another 16GB of RAM, which of course now runs at 1333 MHz due to the new processors.

These two changes more or less halved my previous time, 16.19 seconds to now 8.51 seconds.

Oh, sorry, I miss that. I though you modify the photoshop setting as well. That's why I asked.

My Hex 3.46 24G 1333RAM 840Evo can never finish the test in less then 10s. So just wonder what setting you use.

The Speedtest might crash on most machines with the NVidia web driver for El Capitan unless OpenCL is disabled in the app's prefs.
If the test is used as documented it executes in about 8 sec on a 2015 top-spec iMac 27. However I think lots of people are re-executing it on the larger result image of the first test, which obviously takes longer to run. That explains some minutes-long execution times. On my iMac it takes about 2:15 to run the 2nd time.

I don't know if that operating mode is by design or meaningful, but it might give better test accuracy on today's faster machines -- provided everyone is specific about the test procedure.

2015 iMac 27, 4Ghz i7, 1TB SSD, 32GB, M395X
OS X 10.11.1, Photoshop CC 14.2.1

This bench test is just too old anyway. A modern test should use a 30+ mpixel TIFF from a modern camera, Iris Blur (OpenCL), Image Resize (OpenCL), Shake Reduction (OpenCL) and increase DPI to much bigger size, and noise reduction filter (CPU cruncher).

I just ran the test. I got 9.07 seconds on my 5k iMac.

Specs:
Late 2015 5k iMac
4 GHz Intel Core i7
8 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M395X with 4GB

iMac i5 3.1ghz
12gb memory
ATI HD 6970m 1gb
SSD
Osx 10.10.5

i did the test in 13.89

wil updating my system to 16gb add some advantage? or is that waste of my money?

Hi BillyBobBongo, sounds awesome. But I'm trying to wrap my head around your processor upgrades. You had... Quote "2 x 2,4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon"... so another way of saying that is, you had the 2.4 GHz 8 Core (MP 5.1, 2010) and swapped that for two six core 3.33 Ghz processors, which created a 12 core 3.33 GHz? If I recall correctly, the stock 12 core ran at 2.93 Ghz? Also what is meant .. "now runs at 1333 MHz due to new processors" Thanks!

Yes, that is indeed what is said.

This part of my post refers to the RAM. Originally the RAM functioned at 1066 MHz, the new processors allow it to run at 1333 MHz.

Photoshop had an update this week with the biggest changes the interface has seen for a long time. It's flatter now and more touch friendly if you have hardware for that. Performance is still about the same though.

But that nasty OpenCL bug in the Nvidia web drivers means you still can't increase the dimensions of an image too much without crashing Photoshop. You have to disable OpenCL.

Confirmed. My 6700K custom build does it in the same time. Overclocking to 4.5ghz hardly made a difference. It appears Photoshop is running at its limits.
