A New MBP (Pro product) at MWSF (consumer-oriented)?

I see the next MBP refresh coming in the January 15 SteveNote to be the first 45nm Penryn MBP @ 2.4 & 2.6GHz -> 2.6 & 2.8GHz in September.

Here's a basic question from someone who is very eagerly and patiently waiting to update from a PowerBook G4 to a MBP:

Has :apple: ever announced new Pro products, e.g. MacBook Pros, at MWSF, which I've always thought of as consumer oriented, as opposed to doing so at the pro-oriented WWDC in the summer?

Based on his excellent track-record, I'm sure Multimedia's right and am definitely hoping so. If they don't won't release new Pro products at their main consumer event, however, does that mean we'll have to wait til the June conference for a refresh/redesign?

[Am also waiting (apparently forever) on new cinema displays and the same question applies re timing and pro vs. consumer conference releases... Of course, there are some semi-active rumors that new displays could come with new Mac Pros.]

The first MacBook Pro was introduced on Macworld 2006, if i'm not mistaken. So it surely is possible that the next upgrade will be presented there.

there is hope...

just checked in the Buyer's Guide and you're absolutely right. the MBP was introduced in january 2006 at MWSF. so it is absolutely possible that, if this rumor is true, we could see new MBPs in january... fingers crossed!!
