I don't get this thread. Op, you were rightfully frustrated, but nowhere did I read about you trying to correct the issue. Lot's of arguing with some of the less sensitive forum members here, but no calls to support because you felt it a waste of time, and you never tried to get a replacement. Why not?

Sometimes products have issues. I have exchanged expensive Apple products in the past, and always seemed to get a working replacement. Once I had to return a product twice before getting a good one. But after I received a replacement I had several years of trouble free service.
