I purchased iPhone 15 Pro Max, and I have to say, coming from original SE, it’s been a frustrating experience. First and foremost, the battery life is bad. I find myself constantly searching for a charger by evening. This has made the phone incredibly inconvenient for daily use. Also phone heats up like crazy and 17.0.3 has not fixed the issue.

The phone is too big and heavy but theres very little extra content shown on the screen. So it’s like just streched regular screen.

The software updates have become a nightmare. It seems like every other day there’s a new update that disrupts everything… iOS 17.0.1… 0.2… 0.3… Not to mention, some of these updates have caused compatibility issues with third-party apps, making them crash or behave erratically.

The camera, while touted as a major selling point, has been a letdown. The pictures are often overprocessed, and in low light, they are downright terrible. It feels like the camera’s capabilities were oversold, and it’s not living up to the hype.

The phone is incredibly fragile, and even a minor scratchinh can lead to a ruined finish. And when it does scratch, the repair costs are astronomical. It’s almost like they want you to buy a new phone instead.

In summary, this iPhone has been nothing but a headache. The poor battery life, huge size and weight without more screen real estate, heat issues, constant updates, disappointing camera, and fragile design make it a frustrating and expensive device to own. I expected more from a flagship iPhone, but unfortunately, it falls short in many areas.

Mr. Samsung, is that you?

Seriously though, none of the things in the OP are even remotely the typical user experience. The cameras are phenomenal, the battery is widely considered to be pretty darned good, etc.

And ... how are updates disruptive let alone nightmarish? That's just nonsense. You can have the updates run at night when you're not using the phone. And timely updates are one of the big features of iOS vs the competing phone OSes out there that often take months to get critical software updates, if ever.

You must have gotten a major dud. Aside from the phone being too big and heavy (subjective), the extra stuff is not normal and all the 15 pro max owners I know have none of the issues. The cameras are phenomenal and one of the best in low light. Plenty of comparisons out there btwn the other top smartphones on Youtube for you to watch if you don't believe me. Pro max battery life should easily get you a day unless you're on your phone like 24/7 and it should definitely be much better than your SE. Basically, you should definitely get it exchanged.

Also how did you already manage to get a scratch??

Is this a joke? This is a joke right?

I'm coming from a 12 Pro, which I loved. I still think the 12 Pro has the best design.

Let's start with battery life though. Are you running facebook, instagram, x, 100 tabs, playing games and screen at full brightness all day or something? I've had my 15PM for 3 days and have only had it charging while in my car to and from work and my sons soccer practice. Have never had a need to charge it otherwise so far.

Now for the camera. This is where I really have to feel like this is satire. The nighttime photo and video ability is literally magic compared to my 12 Pro, at least with the 1X lens. And I've tested it quite a bit with nighttime soccer practice and cub scouts the last two nights and have been floored by it.

I'll grant you the form factor does take some getting used to and for some you may never get used to it, especially coming from an SE.

lol you have a phone that’s on the verge of being shut off on you but you don’t like the newest model compared to it? **** you must still drive a ford model T 😂

If you find the battery life on the 15 Pro Max insufficient, what have you been doing with your 2016 iPhone SE?

If you’re not trolling, and find it huge and heavy, you can always pick a 3rd gen SE, it’s much lighter, more compact, and cheaper. The only thing I miss on my iPhone SE 3 is a better camera, with low light photography. Otherwise, it’s one of the devices I’m enjoying the most, one of my favorite iPhones. Only behind, maybe, of the 4S in 2012.

I’d love for you to elaborate more on this with your experience and photos of the scratches you’re talking about.

I’m also curious which repairs you’re referring to because the repair cost for back replacements on this phone went down.

Agreed.
Keep the original SE. So long as we can do battery replacements on it, there's almost nothing to complain about.

A) Why did you buy it?
B) I experience none of those issues.
C) Instead of whining on line why did you not simply exchange it for something you like?

The weight was the deal killer for me. I don't want to carry around a brick.

5X camera was also really poor. The 15 Plus makes more sense.

Did you return it to get ideal phone you prefer to have? Life is too short to regret something and dwell on it. Wish you get whatever you are looking for 😊 Keep calm 😊, move on from what caused the regret, grasp what makes you happy and be happy 😊

I must use my IPhone 15 Pro Max wrong because so far I had a great experience.

Never had any overheating issue (I’m not saying that the problem doesn’t exist), I have 31% of battery at 10:15PM having it used all day, including 45 minutes total video recording.

Maybe I got directly shipped the IPhone 16 and I didn’t notice.

The action button is a button that you press and opens thing, and that’s it.

Even though a couple of times I had AirPods and instead of pressing it I pressed the volume up, then pressed the action button, opened the camera, found myself in pain for the extremely loud music, press the volume down and took 20 photos instead of lowering the volume.

I still need to try bending my phone until my back glass breaks and scratching it with metal tools though.

I also still need to try comparing my phone camera in low light with my Sony A7s + 85mm f1.8.
I’m sure when I’ll do I’ll feel obligated to create a thread complaining and I’ll switch to a better phone, the Google Pixel.

I heard it has 7 years of software updates, and no other companies does it, right? 🙄

Why put the blame on Apple for misbehaving apps? Perhaps it is the apps fault. Not conforming to a standard that Apple is now enforcing in an update. I would suspect the apps before I would blame Apple. Many apps are poorly coded and Apple blocks holes that apps should not have been using.
