Apple software is rubbish. Probably explains why new OS versions are mostly modest in changes.

I love also owning a fold 4 for when I want to mess around and customise.

I don't know what happened, the stutter was disappearing by restarting the device or closing the apps & it was being stable for hours after restarting
However, now it has become a nightmare, restarting closing the apps..etc doesn't make the stuttering disappear, it always happens now I don't know why! also I didn't change any settings! no persistent all the time
Don't know what to do!
It's for IP14PM, IOS16.1.2

My fear is that it is an hardware issue… due to the 120 Hz. It’s too long to fix it and it’s not on all the device…
It’s not hardware pal. I used to have 3 affected units, bought on three different continents, in distinct times.

My main iPhone got fixed. I am not using the others currently to affirm they’re also ok but I think it’s ICloud related. Maybe something after requesting software update. It’s been a month since the stutter disappeared and I have updated the iPhone.

The user in this thread with more experience has the nickname Antiga. He’s told us the stutter first appeared on his IPhone 13 PM after installing IOS16.0 Beta1. It’s definitely not hardware related and EACH and EVERY iPhone unit is susceptible to it. It only takes you to log into the “wrong” ICloud account and make an update and/or download certain apps and/or establish some settings.

There’s nothing you can do to stop it. We’ve tried everything for 3 months. You’ll have to wait and deal with it. After any change in settings, it will seem to be gone for a short period of time and it will eventually reappear and get progressively worse.

Would a reset and a fresh install probably sort this then?

This is all right on schedule to the last time this issue appeared in iOS 14 for iPhone 12. It was fixed in April of the next year with 14.5. 14.5 beta 1 launched in February and the final release was on April 26th. If we're lucky this time it won't take that long, but a lot (several months more) patience may be required. This should be done with by May (and most likely before that since they already say a fix is coming).

It's now been 4 full days for me on iOS 16.2 RC and no stutter yet (iPhone 14 Pro Max). On previous versions, the longest I ever went without a stutter was 72 hours. So for sure they are doing stuff to improve it, although it's probably not solved (as others are still experiencing it).

This is good news!

The swipe up animation stutter stopped for me with 16.2 B1, B3, and RC (I skipped B2 and B4).

Guys, you are noticing stutters only on swipe up animation? All of tickets to Apple about this, but I’m also noticing stutters on Safari (open new/switching between tabs), jumping to widgets/App Library screen, swiping on recent open apps, lags on Weather and Photos apps, etc.

Sadly, maybe they fixing just swipe up animation, because anyone saying about other stutters (or it happens only with me).

Yes, you are correct
The stuttering is highly noticed in safari while scrolling, tabs switching..etc, also it is noticeable with apple native apps like messaging app, app store..etc
with non-native apps it is noticeable while swiping up to close the app & that's what everybody is talking about here, but it doesn't mean that it is not noticed anywhere else

I was always experiencing the swipe-up stutter on the official iOS 16.1.1 and 16.1.2 within one or two hours after every restart or hard reset. I decided to try the public beta this weekend and installed iOS 16.2 RC beta. After 30+ hours, I haven't really noticed the swipe-up stutter. There's a hint of hesitation in my previous statement because there are other random parts of iOS that aren't as buttery smooth as we're used to on iPhones.

*fingers crossed on swipe-up stutter, though!*

Hi all! Yesterday I upgraded phone to 16.2 RC from 16.1.2 and for more than a day everything has been working well. Additionally, I disabled the "Attention Aware Features" face ID. Perhaps because of this setting there were problems :) Try someone, maybe it will help.

Hope this helps. Tired of stuttering problems.
It's work for me (iPhone 14 Pro 16.1.2)

Hi all! 3-4 days of problems with stuttering was not. I decided to try turning the setting back on (Attention Aware Features) and after a couple of hours the lags reappeared. Apparently on my phone this is the option that makes the stuttering. iPhone 14 PM 16.2 RC

To anyone disabling Attention Aware Features: probably good to look up what this does before turning it off (allows people to unlock your phone by simply pointing it at your face instead of requiring you to look at the screen, prevents dimming / auto-lock while you look at your display etc) and evaluate if that really is a trade off that‘s worth it for a placebo, because it doesn‘t fix the stuttering.
