Ghetto apple software. Apple fanboys make fun of android being janky but the truth right now is that iOS is so much more buggy than android.
Yes, because my iPhone 12 stutters not only on swipe up animation, but in other cases: open new/switching between tabs in Safari, swiping on recent apps, move to App Library, switching pics on Photos, etc. My previously Xiaomi from 2017 works not much worse… But in high demanding games I have perfectly smooth experience.

I genuinely dont know about that bc I havent messed with android since Galaxy Nexus and Nexus 5 days, I have no reference point... but, cant disagree that iOS has a ridiculous amount of jank and variation even from one point release to another.

its really unacceptable. I think they're too afraid of firing Craig bc he's charismatic and such a keynote staple of a speaker, or they don't see anything as an issue on software side which is even more troubling.

I mean no ill will of Craig, but iOS, while overall good for sure, is a dumpster fire. Scott Forstall ran a really tight ship by comparison.

'The maps fiasco' was one of artificial tech media hype retrospectively imo, and pales in comparison to the countless untold stories of bugs and issues that aren't covered by tech media equally but fill up into mega threads like this.

I bought a Fold 4 in annoyance a couple of weeks ago to use alongside the 14PM.

Not sure where the notion of Android being buggy comes from, the Fold 4 runs smoother than my iPhone...

Not a notion, it's a fact really. I've used Android a lot longer than iOS. Android is always very smooth at first, but over time it tends to lose that smoothness, and that's further compounded by how many apps you install and what they tend to do in the background. The same doesn't apply to iOS.

Do you have 14 PM or 13 PM
14 PM
I had the annoying lag since the beginning ,day of the release , but really since I installed iOS 16.2 no more problems, at least no lags.
Still the RAM management problem , the apps start from scratch if I open a couple of them…

In the past this has been true. I needed to switch to an iPhone for work around September. My S21 was running every bit as good as it was the day I bought it. Any mainstream Android smartphone made in the last 5 years or so does not have this issue. Android has come a LONG way from where it started, and unfortunately so has iOS but not in a good way.

Agreed. My Note 20 Ultra was running as well as the day I got it. Never any lag or stutter. I moved over to the iPhone because everything else in my electronic world is already Apple. I often wonder how many of the people who don’t like Android devices have ever even tried one. Early Android devices had all kinds of issues but for the most part those have been ironed out as the OS has matured.

Which cannot be said about the iPhone at present. How our issue can go unfixed so many months after launch is puzzling.

Also, am I the only one frustrated by the lack of personalisation options like launchers on Android?

My 14PM is suddenly having this issue too. Many actions that I would expect to be fluid or smooth thanks to the ProMotion display are actually choppy and stuttering and look worse than they did on my old iPhone. Like swiping up into the app switcher, or pulling down my Notification Center. 16.2.1 where are you!!

I am also facing the same issue on my 13 PM

Don’t know what is taking apple so long to fix this stutter issue!
It seems like they are either giving it a low priority, they are trying to fix it but it is complex, or they tried, failed, and gave up.

Yeah, I felt it was a little better after 16.2 but the stutter/lag still comes during the day. Pretty disappointing!

I’m not sure how or why but thankfully over the course of a few days the issue seems to have resolved itself. No more stuttering or choppy animations, for now At least… It did have me concerned though.
