Because not everyone has this issue. Which leads me to believe that it's a mix of both hardware and software factors. If everyone had this, there'd be a massive public outrage. I mean, people are not blind.
The iPhone 14 pro is literally unable to play games because touch input causes massive amounts of stuttering. I showed it stuttering directly to a friend and he says it looks smooth. He could not see the stutter.

Some people actually can’t see stutters or frame rate drops at all.

It is 100% not related to hardware. Literally all iPhone 14 Pro Max I got in my hands have the issue (at least 5 of them). And most of the owners either don't see it (even when showing it to them) or don't care. It's just a cosmetic issue to 99% of users.

It’s definitely a software issue but something else is going on here. Because I’ve never had this issue on my iPhone 14 pro max, believe me I would notice it. Im really OCD about framerate and stutters, check out my post history. But I have seen this on my friends iPhone 14 pro.

I have a lot of other stuttering issues with the iPhone 14 pro max but this one I’ve never had.

Had no stutter at all on 16.2 with my 14 pro max FINALLY. Updated to 16.3 and the stutter is back, but not as bad as it was before. Sucks but I’m learning to just live with it at this point.

16.3.1 is out. No doubt another disappointment.
Yup, without a doubt. Really disappointing though because the stuttering has been unreal for me the past few days. Pretty much every single time I background an app it stutters now. At this point, it's not a question of if it will stutter, it's a question of how bad it will be.

That senior advisor guy also suggested me to just turn on reduced motion and said he has that enabled on his 14 Pro Max as well. Yeah, no. Haven‘t paid this load of cash just to disable system animations in the end.

Very sad if that’s the case.
This is not even a good solution, because it still stutters when you swipe right on the home bar to switch apps. No reduced motion on that.

I will never fall to Apple Stockholm Syndrome. It’s sad.
Hey, I’m not happy about it either but I’m well beyond the return period at this point. Don’t have much of a choice but to live with it, at least for now.

I’m still on 16.2 since a couple of months back and still no animation lag for me so far. In case anyone’s feeling the itch to jump to 16.3.1, just don’t.
