Indeed. Just like how how the Google Pixel no longer includes the 3.5 Jack, others will follow suit. The smart phone industry is really competitive, but it’s interesting how they all tend to make the same changes, just not at the same time.
Even better, the Android camp made fun of the iPhone 7 for the lack of headphone jack, then they later do it themselves (Google Pixel, OnePlus).
Heck, even Samsung is going to have a notch next year. :D

Headphone jack is gone and will never be back. Period.
Its the same with laptops - USB ports etc gone in favour of Type-C - I cant see full size USB ports back at all in the future.

Apple can remove what they like, and then sit back and stay quiet. They know people complain, then get used to it and it becomes the norm.

People are still talking about this? Buy some wireless headphones and stop complaining. or just use an adapter to carry on using your old headphones.
I still hate that it is missing. Wireless headphones just never work well in my opinion. I live with it, otherwise I wouldn't have an ipx but I still miss it

What issues do you find with wireless headphones?! I’ve been using them for years without problems and since getting my AirPods last year, it has been awesome.

Ok just to be clear the purpose of this thread is not to resurrect an old argument. But I posted this because the design of the x required deletion of the 3.5 mm jack the display technology made it impossible, coupled with the thin sides.

Not exactly. The ‘X’ design has nothing to do with removal of the 3.5 mm Jack, that was removed back with the iPhone 7, and Apple would have intended to have the 3.5 Jack removed regardless if the iPhone X existed or not. The reality is, multiple Apple executives stated that it was antiquated and wanted it removed for more internal space for Camera and processor improvements.

"Ok just to be CLEAR the purpose of this thread is..." I got it and it wasn't that hard...

To be honest Apple couldn’t have said anything about the X design even if that was the main reason.

I’m trying to think of a time when Apple has ever gone back to a component after previously declaring it obsolete and unnecessary. I’m not saying they’re right. I’m just saying that they tend to have a “no regrets and no looking back” philosophy of design.

Nah jack is long gone like the dodo.

I guess potentially the Mac Pro. Trash can innovation and they’re going to back track. Not sure what component they removed on the trash can Mac Pro.

Otherwise I can’t think of any.

Not coming back so you might as well get over it.

No! He doesn’t need to get over it. It was one of the most arrogant and stupid moves Apple has ever made. The fact that he won’t accept it (like me) speaks volumes. It’s the pushovers who just “accept” apple stubborn ways which allows them to keep doing crap like this.

I am not one of those people.

I believe the iPhone TEN was a mistake and I will not support it by not buying it.

Some people wish to stick with old technology for various reasons.

That's fine, to each his own.

But, there was a time when Apple removed the floppy drive from the iMac G3 that people screamed bloody murder over it at about the same volume and level of rage.

No one's missing the floppy drive anymore.

Well then you keep swinging at those windmills!

Apple will get over you not buying the 10.

Ignorance is bliss and you ARE the reason they get away with what they do. Thanks for ruining it for all of us
[doublepost=1543094166][/doublepost]

Then something is very wrong with you

Why is somebody’s opinion about it ignorance? The lack of headphone jack has zero effect on me as I use AirPods, when I used wired headphones the adaptor didn’t bother me. This doesn’t mean I nor anybody else is letting them ‘get away with it’.

You did what you should do. You don’t like the product, so you didn’t buy it. Doesn’t mean you get to judge those that did.

I showed my wife how to connect to her Beats via Bluetooth earlier this week. She's been walking around everywhere with the cord hanging out (headphone jack on her 6s). It got caught on something when she was rock hunting last weekend and she nearly fell.

She was over the moon happy when she realized she could ditch the cord (after finally letting me show her).

My wife tends to be five or six years behind the technology curve and hates having to learn this stuff. She thought computers in the 1980s were a passing fad.

Honestly, I don't see anything wrong with her being happy about yet another cord being removed.
