I sold my Airpods a while ago. Hated the fact I needed to recharge them often (and no way 5 hours in a single charge) and a few more reasons like these:
https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/airpods-and-headache-ear-pain.2022765/

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/apple-pencil-2-battery-life.2153502/page-3#post-26789410 (read the italic part)

My Earpods are plugged 24/7 in the IPP 10.5... I don't remove and reinsert them for fear this will damage the headphone jack in the future. We may also find better wired headphones in terms of sound quality, so we should never stick only with bluetooth versions, that may not be the best in this regard or other areas such as comfort.

Besides we can always use a dongle to continue with the wired. What I wonder in the case of iPhones is if there's some battery drain and/or the wi-fi issue mentioned below:
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...-headphone-adapter-wifi-interference.2155178/
https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...ne-adapter-draining-a-lot-of-battery.2156206/

If there's nothing wrong (and I hope this continues to be the case if Apple decides to go with USB-C for future iPhones) then that's great.

No! He doesn’t need to get over it. It was one of the most arrogant and stupid moves Apple has ever made. The fact that he won’t accept it (like me) speaks volumes. It’s the pushovers who just “accept” apple stubborn ways which allows them to keep doing crap like this.

I am not one of those people.

I believe the iPhone TEN was a mistake and I will not support it by not buying it.

can you tell me why you need technology from the late 1800's in a phone from 2018?

it's time to move on. have i been annoyed by the removal at times, yes but i understand as a society we need to move on and evolve. that's what humans have been doing for millions of years.

It wasn’t about evolving as a society. It was about selling you ear buds for $170 that have to be recharged every 5 hours...

Over here
I was using wireless headphones before Apple removed the jack, honestly see no need for it, in a phone at least. People tell me the quality is better with a jack, I don't hear it. My current set cost me $30 and I get 8-10 hours out of them. Works for me.

I still think it was pointless of Apple to remove the headphone jack. You may not use or need the jack, but why take the choice away from those that do? The wireless headphones are expensive and the dongle is pointless. Why not just keep the headphone jack in the first place? I just bought an iPhone 6s on Black Friday for 99 bucks and I’m perfectly happy with it.

I use bt for my helmet when I ride, but for music or conf calls I prefer wired. Just easier, sound better, no recharging and you can buy a replacement set literally anywhere when needed...

The 3.5 mm audio jack is a standard. Its use by the general population was probably going to decrease slowly in the future but there will always be a need for a wired analog audio out.

Apple made the move too early. This is not similar to abandoning flash on iOS, which was a flawed standard. The 3.5 mm is a universal standard for analog audio.

Then don’t buy air pods, there are hundreds of other Bluetooth headphones out there or use a dongle or get a wired headphone that uses the jack. The jack is not coming back, especially when most other manufacturers have done the same. Some even before Apple did.

I ordered a dongle tonight... I have no use for ear buds. You aren’t cutting the cord with wireless headphones, you are simply moving it. Instead of a cord coming out of the phone, you have another cord coming out of the wall and another device to charge. In the end you aren’t saving yourself from a cord, or hassle. If anything, having to worry about the ear buds running out of juice, slightly increases the effort and inconvenience.

Just another pointless thread though, it's not coming back, gone from Apple, gone from Google and soon to be gone from Samsung. Then the rest will fall in line.
For no reason. Why take away choices from people? If you want to use Bluetooth headphones, the headphone jack isn’t keeping you from doing that. The headphone jack is very inexpensive and the removal doesn’t seem to be making the phone thinner. Some of us actually use wired headphones and shouldn’t have to worry about dongles.

Because some of us have several pairs of $10 Sony earbuds we keep in our car, at our desk, in our lockers at the gym. Now we have to ensure we have a dongle in all those places. I can't tell you how many times I've wanted to listen to music on my iPhone and couldn't because I don't have a dongle on me. It's absolutely ridiculous and I shouldn't have to buy wireless headphones. Preferring wired headphones to wireless ones is like chocolate to vanilla.

Or use the lightning EarPods apple includes in the box.

Do you realize the PITA this is when you have your phone charging and want to listen to music???

I’m Over it. I don’t thing design wise it’s possible. The bottom of the screen curves into the body into a U-shape. It’s not possible imho.

Yep. Exactly what I said... today's technology is nothing but a step backwards. Its funny how it seemed more advanced in 2011-2012.

I still miss it. How about you?
Do I miss having my ears be on a physical leash?
Do I miss getting the headphone cord caught on things?
Do I miss having to untangle a headphone cord every time I take it out of my pocket?

Not at all! :)

Change comes easier when we focus on what we have to gain instead of what we have to give up. It's all about perspective.
