Totally agree, I wait for the next model.
Somehow I suspect you will be saying something similar next year.

The X isn't perfect. But I could never go back to the 8/8 Plus form factor. And I'm not big on using Android as my daily driver, so the X is still the best overall phone (for me anyway).

Yeah - hate that thing.. but I fear it’s here to stay..Same thing but with a notch n..
Can’t argue with your points. I think you’re going to be stuck with the notch in a lot of future products though.

For me it was worth it. However, I am in the camp where the plus phones are too big for everyday use.
Reachability is just as important and necessary on the X for one handed use. Strong example = bringing down control centre. Or scroll to top of safari page press.Exactly. I had to have a Plus for screen size but always hated the fat “Phablet” feel in my hand. Even Apple sorta made fun of it by having the “Reachability” feature.. which always made me laugh.. but it was necessary for me with one hand use. Want the 16:9 aspect ratio back somehow with X2 - but that might not be possible without making it wider again..
the resolution has nothing to do with your youtube experience..
the resolution at 1125 px just means you get a crispier image because you have more pixels packed in the same space.
what you probably dont like is the aspect ratio. and thats fine, you are resistant to change. some people complained when their 3.5" screen in the iphone 4 became obsolete because they bought apple's "makes sense screen because you can reach it with your thumb from edge to edge".
LCDs are indeed brighter because they beam a constant light throughout the screen. however, this prevents deep contrasts and a truer black; as well as being less battery efficient.
take your time.. one step at a time. you'll get there eventually.
This is me, exactly.I've spent the last half hour reading all the replies on this thread. This was a very interesting thread to read indeed. I'm coming from a 7+ which I have absolutely loved. It's an outstanding phone and by no means is showing its age. Sure there are sleeker phones out there. The Samsung phones and their infinite edge is pretty darn cool. And the camera on the Pixel 2 is something to behold. But it's not all about the hardware. iOS, the apple ecosystem, the quality build of their products all play a part in why I think their products are far superior to any other option out there.
I've been using the X for 2 days now. I love it, but I'm not 100% sold. I enjoy the larger screen of the 6+ and 7+, but I do remember wondering if I made the right choice when the 6+ came out. That phone was HUGE compared to the 5 and I wondered if I would want to carry around a phone that large. But I came to love the size and was more than happy to got with the 7+ when it came out. So I'm not not quite sure I'm ready to downsize to a smaller phone, but I'm definitely going it give it more time before I make the final decision. The phone's hardware is amazing. I absolutely love FaceID, it's worked 99% of the time for me, far better than TouchID did. Unlocking the phone just feels natural. The gesture controls are so well designed. I'm still not sold on the screen quality though. True Tone is a joke and unusable (so I turned it off of course). And the color shift when viewing at angles is a bit annoying but not a deal breaker. I'm getting used to a smaller keyboard which is actually a bit trickier to type on, but that will come with practice. The smaller form factor definitely makes the phone easier to carry around.
My biggest debate is: is this phone worth $1200? My 7+ works just fine. I only owe $400 on it and it's paid in full, and I've been totally happy with it. But I love new tech, and the X is a beautiful phone with its full screen and all the other features I mentioned above. 12 days left to make my decision. At least it's a decision between 2 great pieces of hardware. There are worse problems in the world![]()

[doublepost=1515454363][/doublepost]You mentioned having to pick up your phone to use Face ID. Once the program has learned your face you don’t have to have the phone very close for it to detect it. As long as you are looking at the device it’ll pick up. Mine will as long as the phone is within approximately 12-18.” As long as I’m looking at it. I’ve had my phone for about 3 weeks now.1. Coming from an iPhone 7 Plus screen to the iPhone X screen is a downgrade, don't care what anyone says, everything is bigger on on my 7 Plus and 1080 resolution just fits everything nicely on the screen. The 1125 resolution on the iPhone X is just weird, especially watching youtube videos because everything out there is 1080p. Not to mention my 7 Plus is brighter and more cool compared to the X oled screen and I perfer the cooler color. I'll wait for the iPhone X Plus if Apple ever decides to release it.
2. My phone is always on my desk and with touch ID, I can easily unlock the phone without picking it up and take a quick glance at notifications with my 7 plus. I can't do that with the iPhone X, now I have to pick up the unit for face ID and swipe up, not convenient at all.
For paying $1200 w/ tax, I just wanted something that is better than my 7 Plus and I feel as though it's a step backwards for me due to the reasons above. If it works for you, that's great, I hope you continue enjoying your device, but this is definitely not for me. I really hope they release an iPhone X Plus with touch ID embedded into the screen.
EDIT 11/6/17: Yes, true tone was turned off on the X, and both brightness was turned to the max on both the Plus and X, the plus is brighter and cooler, the X was less bright and more warm/yellowish.
For people who doesn't believe I actually purchased one, here's my return receipt.

and here is an example of video cropping on the X compared to the plus (not my picture)

Doubtful on the price drop..Doubtful. Next Sept we will see a significantly improved X and X+. They will look identical to the current X, but have substantial changes to Face ID among other items. Apple is a .2 company. Annual Upgrade users will be best off. Unless one is wealthy enough to drop another $1,200 in 12m.
There will also be a slight price drop on the base X, or and increase in base RAM for the same price. My money is a $50 reduction in price.![]()
Doubtful on the price drop..
Because there's more room in the larger phones (and there will be an Xs Plus this year), the Plus phones will always get a little more of the better technology.. mostly in the camera.. Though it bugs me no end - that Apple does that.. Just give the larger phone a bigger battery for that larger display - since it needs it. But I hate that my 'hand size' has to dictate whether I get the best technology or not. I had 6SPlus and 7Plus both for the larger screens and better camera.. but HATED the Phablet size.. The 6S and 7 fit my hand so much better. I LOVE the X's size!!!!!! As large a screen as 7Plus but smaller hand size fit.. YAY.. FINALLY!.. This time the BEST technology was ALL in the smaller size.. I just hope Apple doesn't go back to their trick of 'better techonology' in the XsPlus than in the Xs - that would really pi$$ me off.
I'm reviving this thread for anyone still in doubt about purchasing the X over the 8 Plus. After reading a few pages about people not knowing what the X can do over the 8 plus, let me enlighten you.
The X can do animoji - yes, it is not a feature that is worth the £200 extra, but it's a feature that does qork rather well and is gimmicky.
The X has a much better camera for low light portraits - the f2.4 and OIS help massively for low light portrait shots.
The X has OIS in the telephoto lens - this not only helps portrait shots in low light, but it can be used in video mode to give stabilized zoomed clips.
The X has FaceID - i was skeptical at first whether this would be as good as TouchID. It is accurate and works well. There are pros and cons to both options but i do like FaceID now I've got it, but both options on the X would of been nicer.
The X is lighter and easier to use in one hand.
The X will have a higher resale value, so that £200 extra? Yeah you will more than likely get that back over an 8 Plus.
The X has a better screen in my eyes, this is subjective though.
The X may have a different aspect ratio, meaning videos either have bars each side or if zoomed they don't look right. But, alot of content creators are now filming in the new 18:9 ratio, meaning that zoomed in video will look normal on these longer phones, and will look odd on 16:9 phones.
The X has a more futuristic and eye pleasing design - once you get over that notch.
I'd say the X is worth it over the 8 Plus - just my 2 cents.
Reachability is just as important and necessary on the X for one handed use. Strong example = bringing down control centre. Or scroll to top of safari page press.
The phablet feel is an advantage in my use as I use my plus like a mini tablet. The X isn't quite big enough and feels more like a phone. I could see myself dual using it with an iPad where currently I exclusively use my plus and the iPad has been sold.

I love my iPhone x

I held a Plus today. I used one for 3 years. I could never go back at this point. It simply feels way too big and heavy in my hands.
Despite its many flaws, I really like my X. I just think it's absolutely not worth the price.
If the iPhone X were a perfect phone in my eyes I still would not feel it was worth the price at retail. Is the iPhone X overpriced? Depends on how the individual values the iPhone X and what it delivers for an experience. In your case, you have particular issues you don’t like about it, therefore your perception is that it’s not worth the full price tag. Does the iPhone X have its flaws? I think all tech is flawed in someway or another, because it’s not perfect. Face ID has its tendencies, but it has its advantages, but short comings as well.
