I tried the S8+ not long ago and returned it. Its a nice device but imessage and being able to text from my iPad are things I wont let go.

Yea I never owned an Android phone mainly because of how much I enjoy IOS. Its just tempting by some of the hardware offerings to give it a go but more than likely I would find myself coming back to Apple.

The colours on that X are definitely an improvement over the Plus. Seeing them side by side really puts it into perspective.

Thats the wow factor initially, Samsung makes some killer hardware.

Not debating the colors, just the stupid decisions to narrow the phone and use some odd aspect ratio really kills the viewing experience coming from a "Plus" user. I watch a lot of content on mine and although minor the smaller width makes a difference. If you stretch the picture you have the notch and if you double tap you have the same screen size as a normal 7/8.

I agree, I dislike the cropping myself. I do miss my 7 Plus’ size and optimisation, but the X will catch up soon enough.

i rarely watch movies/netflix, etc on my phone so it was never a problem for me personally but if i was a plus user then i would probably just wait for the x plus. If watching a lot of media on your phone is important to you then the X will probably feel like a downgrade from the plus.

I too love the size of the X here… coming from a 7Plus - too wide..

The only thing I hate, hate, hate, hate… Is the move of the dictation button to the far right side of the bottom of the screen can no longer reach it with my thumb of my left hand. I hate that… What the HELL Apple?!

And why waste all that space at the bottom. Hate that the typewriter keyboard is the size of non-Plus phones now. That was a big surprise too.

Overall love it.. but just those two problems.. ^^

Well the gullible side of me decided to pick up the X today while out to give it one last try. This would be my third phone (two were returned for various issues). I have my 7 Plus still so upgrading to an 8 Plus doesn't seem worth it. I am still torn on the small form factor. This may be the perfect phone for those who wanted a screen size in between the regular and plus models without the bulk. Being a plus user for a few years now its hard getting my eyes to adjust to the smaller phone. I am still not convinced this is a worthy upgrade for those coming from a Plus. I guess I am one who enjoys the larger devices. My only other option for an upgrade would be to go Samsung which I am not too found about but did also check them out today. Decisions..Decisions

Stick to your 7 Plus and then get the X2 Plus next year.

7 Plus has metal back and better front camera than the 8 & X.

Starting to think that's probably my best option...just keep the 7 Plus. Yes, the X Plus or whatever it might be called next year I think will be the one meant for me but until then maybe I will just get a new case for my 7 Plus just to change it up a bit for the time being.

Yeah those who are foaming at the mouth right now about how great the X is and how Apple is the most brilliant smart phone maker ever designed are the same people who will be throwing the X under the bus in about 9 months when the XI is announced.

It would be hilarious if Apple brought back Touch ID... under the screen or whatever. Those who said "Touch ID is dead, yada yada yada" will quickly change their tune to "having 2 biometic authentications is a brilliant move by Apple!"

 LOL

LOL... So true.

I can already hear the keynote. First, we revolutionized biometric identification with TouchID. It was thousand times more secure than passcode. Next, we introduced the world to FaceID which was like million times more secure than TouchID...

And now... we combine them. Only Apple could do this... it’s incredible. It’s amazing. It’s like gizilion times more secure. No one could ever brea... what? That kid already did it?... Oh... I see. Stay tuned for next year!

I'm sure that apple has people that skim these types of forums and take some popular ideas into consideration.

You really think so?

I was wondering about that. There are a lot of users here but we must still represent such a small percentage of overall user population. Plus, you have to weed out all the non productive comments. It seems like a lot work. It would be interesting to know.

Anyone who works for Apple lurking for ideas here, please identify yourself :D:D:D

Well.. “the screen” of the X is actually larger by 0.1” compared to ‘our’ 7 Plus’. And all the text EXCEPT the friggin keyboard is as large as 7Plus too. It’s only the housing that’s smaller than Plus. And I like that for my hand size.

But the keyboard is killing me. Making typing errors left and right. So if we’re gonna complain we need to complain about the right things! ..

I’m with ya if you’re talking about the smaller typing area.. but it’s not factually correct to say ‘smaller screen’.

No I am saying smaller screen. The Plus is wider and better all around multimedia device. You are right the keyboard does suck.

I’ve seen those pics too. But they’re not telling you the whole story. You do not not get more visual data on a Plus screen width. You need to understand more about pixel density and aspect ratio. You’re getting an “identical screen” in terms of visual display area width wise and much more data vertically. The only thing they cut off was the damn useless bezel area. Finally!!

Well at least we agree on keyboard suckiness. Lol. But that’s a failing of iOS 11 on the X.

And so many apps still not optimized for the larger screen.... :/

Trust me I understand and can easily tell the difference. Not to mention the F’d up aspect ratio the X uses. It was a rushed phone from Apple and they need to really nail their release next year. I will take watching content on my Plus all day anyday over the X and of your telling me it’s the same experience then not sure what to tell ya.

I’m only telling you what I experience daily. I love my jailbreak on my 7Plus with all my theming and widgets. So I still carry both and go back and forth throughout the day. I get that you like your Plus. So do I ! I was just correcting the facts about size difference. People are “incorrectly, facts wise” calling the X a smaller screen. So I have to correct it whenever it is erroneously stated.

But we agree / the masses of “plus” people will “demand” an X Plus next year - just like they forced Apples hand 3 years ago when Apple really didn’t want to get into the Phablet market. I will stay with the 5.8” next year too. I always hated the “phat” case in my hand. Loved the screen hated the width.

Sorry, I consider the 8 plus a mistake phone or an ,”Oops I did it again”, phone o”in the words of Britney. Sorry like many others I got tired of those damn huge bezels and huge clunky phone. Is it perfect, no and nothing is but suggesting the the 8 plus is a better choice is crazy. No way in hell is it. I would rather you try and Android than get a phone that has had the same boring design for the last 4 years.
What? I have just returned my iPhone X. I hated it. So do many people. I changed it for the 8 plus. The genius guy in apple told me the X was not meant to be a plus sized screen and many people are swapping for the plus. I love the the traditional iPhone design with the home button and bezel. Why is it beyond your reasoning that someone would want to switch to the 8 plus? We are all different and like and dislike certain things. Btw tried android for 2 years and hated every second of the experience on the galaxy edge.

I did use “I” , in most of my statement to notate that this is the way I felt. I was simply responding to someone saying the the 8 plus is the better phone which I do not think it is in my opinion. But maybe Apple did make the right choice in releasing three phones. The X was meant for people like me who in no way would ever buy the 8 or 8 plus for various reasons and would have just tried an Android phone which I did between the 8 plus and X release when I tried the Note 8 which is a great phone. And the 8 and the 8 plus or for the people that don’t mind waiting another year for the perfected version of the X. I guess we both won here. And just like many are returning the the 8 plus, many are also returning the 8 plus for the X.

Really not into the x just yet. Coming from a 6s I wanted the bigger screen and better cameras. I went with the note 8 over the 8 plus. After using the note 8, the features are great but I'm more familiar with iphone and I miss the fluid response. The Android pen is amazing... if you'll use it often. The fingerprint sensor is in an awkward area but it does have settings for days! Having all those settings and customization options can be a bit of overkill.
I think I want a simple phone with a slightly larger screen that would work with my current Apple watch.
The note does so many things well but it's a bit overwhelming and not to mention seems to vere on being a bit too bug.
Never thought I'd say ID actually miss the iphone a but.
I will say the Samsung watches have a nicer design to them vs the Apple square. So today is the final day to make up my mind.
Keep the Note 8 with the Gear Sport or move from Note 8 (formerly 6s) to the 8 plus and with my Apple watch series 2 and see what happenes next year....

Operating system aside, how do you like the Note 8 for multimedia purposes?

In that aspect it's amazing. Yes in areas it would outperform the iphone. I don't watch much media, I do not play games, and my pictures and videos are just standard and basic and the Apple does that well however note 8 is pro level lol.
I'm actually thinking of switching to the 8 plus as I previously had the 6s.

I am torn as I currently have the X as well as the 7 Plus still. Sometimes when I pick up the X I like it and sometimes I hate it. Its a tough adjustment coming from someone who has used a Plus for the past few years as I like the bigger physical footprint of the device. Already owning the 7 Plus jumping to an 8 Plus wouldn't be worth the price tag in my opinion which is why I keep looking at the Note 8. I never used Android before and never wanted to however their hardware always seems very nice. For you, coming from a 6S the 8 Plus would be a good choice...just don't expect the same screen going from a Note 8 to that.

Yeah I totally understand. I like the android phone and all just not 100% sure it’s for me. I like my Apple phone I dislike a few things about the phone itself and Apple as a whole. Overall Apple makes things pretty easy and simple and that’s what I missing I think.
The 8 plus may not have the bells and whistles as the 8 but I don’t NEED them. The X just isn’t for me yet, don’t like the Face ID, apps have to be perfected, and I want to give phone time. Maybe next year.
From the 6s the 8 plus should be a pretty stout upgrade with all the new features. I can keep it for a year and an upgrade or keep using it for 2 years. As I stated I already have the Apple Watch which I primarily use for just notifications.

It’s a tough call for sure.

Out of curiosity. How can you say you don’t like it if you haven’t tried it yet?
