iPhone X Returning Xs/Xs Max and Getting the Xr...

So after owning a Xs Max I have decided that I am going to return it and wait for the Xr.

The reasons why you might ask...

I can think of 6 great reasons.

1. PWM sensitivity
2. Blue shift
3. Image persistence/retention
4. Battery efficiency
5. Reception issues
6. Saving $

I would bet my house that you had every intention of returning the XS. You wanted the XR all along but wanted a new phone while you waited.

There was/is not flaw! The MAX is the best I have owned.

I feel like a lot who are waiting for the XR will actually be underwhelmed, and if they can handle the price increase, will inevitably get the XS / XS Max...After all most are on installment plans anyway, so price will not be a huge problem for everyone...I think these phones will have more similar sales to each other than people initially thought...

Because i just believe they will be holding out for something that already been released in a better version a month prior, only in more colors with less screen size options, and a subjectively inferior screen...OLED has been this way for a while so we know what comes with the territory, and I believe like always the connectivity issues will be addressed...In the end its up to the user, and several other factors, but I don't think it's worth spending that on the XR when XS just delivers a bit more...IMO

Fair enough. I wouldn't say the screen is subjectively inferior though.

No it will be nice and deliver, but as we've seen, the screen preference seems to vary from user to user...

Agreed. I just feel that the Xr will fill a nice spot in Apple's lineup.

Also something to consider is the price difference. The XR should be compared with the XS Max rather than the XS simply due to the XR displaying the same amount of content as the XS Max. The price gap for the base models between the XR/XS Max is $450, that's a significant difference with how few features the XR loses compared to the XS/XS Max. $450 will buy you a base model iPhone 7.

I agree with you. The price difference is huge when you consider just how little you give up going with the Xr.

Go big or go home is what I think. If you’re dropping a considerable amount of money, either save up more or just hold out.

Save up more for what and why? Maybe for some the Xr is the wiser choice for a number of reasons. Some of which I just listed above your post.

Agreed! I buy mine outright. I am not getting stuck in some ridiculous payment plan with my carrier.

iPhone XR uses a completely different strategy compared to iPhone 5c.

5c: Low-cost
XR: Mainstream

5c: Repackage last year's iPhone 5 (2012) using a cheap chassis and subtract $100 from the MSRP.

XR: Satisfy mainstream demands for a 6.1" phablet and include the newest SoC and camera sensor. Use the same premium aluminum chassis.
