sooo, i just called a friend of mine to see what he was doing and he said he was playing rome total war...he has a pc...i am sad...
its just over three weeks till the deadline for your PROMISED release time.... surely you would want to give out a release date well in advance? .... or at least an estimate. i dont care if you miss your estimate by a few days or a week etc. i just want to know how long into December i will have to wait.
thanks feral
If you ordered the game from our website you will have it before Christmas.
Feral Interactive
rome total war can be pre-ordered off Feral if you live in the US right? because prices on their site are in british pounds.

I guess Feral Interactive meant Christmas 2010
But i suppose its better to wait rather than have a game full of bugs.
True, but I would like it to be this side, would
you get it deffo before Christmas if we order from feral
Our web-store will be the first store with stock (as we get the first batch to check everything is OK) so the Feral store will ship before the rest by at least a few days.

will the mac version ship with cd keys for playing online?
the pc version had problems with faulty keys, and i was one of the people who had one.
will we be able to play online?
The store *should* select the correct currency based on your location, but it does get it wrong on occasion! If it's picked the wrong country for you, you can choose the correct country by clicking the 'please choose your country' link on the front page of the store.![]()
The Mac version does not use CD Keys, and you will be able to play online through GameRanger.![]()
Does this include full multiplayer compatibility with PC users![]()
Can I just confirm that its due out before Xmas in the UK and not just the US?
No, although not through lack of trying.
All Feral online store pre-orders will ship before Xmas from our UK office to all destinations around the World. Other stores may or may not get stock before the Xmas deadline.
Edwin
hopefully feral interactive will allow me to change the delivery address?
My aunt isn't going to bother getting me rtw because she read on a website that the release date was 1/15/10, Feral is this true?

Just so we can get this cleared up:
People with the Mac version will or will not be able to play multiplayer with people using pcs? That could be a problem, as much of the action for me is found on multiplayer. Rtw pc has a dying multiplayer at best, and I'm not sure Mac would have one at all.
By a "website" she means Amazon. The Feral online store will be shipping before Xmas, although some stores like Amazon might not order in stock until January so will have a January ship date.
Strategy games usually have a better online presence than other networking games on the Mac and I would expect the Mac online community to take well to Rome as the most popular online games on GameRanger right now are titles like Age Of Empires.
As I mentioned above Mac <-> PC gaming is not possible although not through lack of trying. The problem is how the two operating systems are calculating floating point mathematics. As Windows and OS X use different floating point libraries in the OS the results of a complex maths calculation will be ever so slightly different.
This small difference is usually completely harmless but if the game uses floating point results to help synchronise the game between players then this small difference will grow over time meaning the game will slowly go more and more out of sync.
The only way of solving this is writing our own floating point libraries (which is far from simple) and then getting both the Mac and the PC version patched to use our libraries on both platforms. As you can see the solution is extremely complex and not really easy to fix.

Don't forget the cost. I would recommend Feral do a bit more marketing and see if other retailers wish to stock Mac games. Places like GAME and shopto in the UK don't stock them.
Thanks for the feedback. Last time we checked neither company wanted to stock any Mac games and they did not have a Mac games section. I think a while back we got some games stocked in Comet/PC World type stores who also sell Mac computers. We and our distribution partners constantly monitor the situation in popular gaming stores and sites as we want to have our games in as many stores as possible.
The simple rule tends to be unless the store sells Apple Mac hardware they are not interested in stocking Apple software (including games).

UPDATE: I think Game have started stocking Mac stuff (online only) and we might get stock in soon but that is not my department. Currently GAME only has one Mac only game (and a few dual platform) which I think is Red Alert 2.
