Anyone else thinking about canceling their preorder?
I'm sure everyone here has a time limit on how much they are willing to wait...

Let's say you know for a fact the game isn't coming out until June 2010, would you cancel it then?

Well by then i'd of forgotten I even had a pre-order :p but to be honest it's such an awsome game that i think i'd wait till the end of time :)
still dissapointing :(

As dissapointing as this is I have other games I can play so I'm not in a serious rush to get it. I purchased my wife a PC laptop for Christmas as she needed one (ulterior motive...gaming).

I've been playing Medieval 2 and really digging it so that's my deal. As I stated earlier in this post, I would rather them have time to work out the bugs and get it right and I'm sure they're doing everything they can to get it out.

And as they say, patience is the ultimate virtue. :)

Not that anyone asked . . .

1. I'm willing to wait for what I hope will be a bug-free optimized RTW.

2. It is annoying to have "before Christmas" as a release date and then not get it. However, they did hold off announcing the date for most of 2009. Also I'm not sure the "before Christmas" was official, it was (I believe) one of Feral's employees (or testers?) on this forum. Apparently his insider knowledge was incorrect.

3. I've managed programmers. For those of you who are wondering why the release takes so long and keeps slipping, imagine your high school gym class sent to Paris to build the Eiffel tower. Oh, and the teacher only stops by once a month to ask how things are going, so no-one is in charge. And no-one speaks French. And when you're half-done, they say "Eiffel Tower? I meant the Pyramids.".

4. I've bought some of the Steam games on sale recently - great deals (including RTW), but I'm still keeping my RTW macintosh pre-order just to avoid the reboot.

Amazon

Anyone else notice that Amazon.com has changed back Aug 30, 2009?

I will keep my pre-order mainly because I have nothing better to do. But if I don't get a copy by Xmas 2010, I will be at Feral Inc. door with a Pint in each hand and a boot for someone's arse.

Is it just me or do you think that guy on this forum named "IanatFeral' was probably just a massive troll who didn't even work for the company.

As others said, I canceled my order. no point in paying for a 5-6 year old game, at least at that price point. I just bought the windows version and installed Win7.

Originally we had aimed to release Rome: Total War Gold earlier this year hence the message posted on forums by my colleagues. Unfortunately we had a number of unforeseen development issues with the game and took the decision to postpone the release rather than compromise on the quality of the Mac version.

At present I do not have a precise release date, but we are awaiting final approvals and hope to release Rome: Total War Gold in the coming weeks.

______

part of an email from Feral to me  sounds resonable considering its exam January now

Hi Forum-goers,

I just wanted to give you an update on where we are with Rome. We’re very sorry that we didn't get it out before Christmas – we are now simply waiting on approval from the licensor (in this case, the original publisher). Once we have that, it will be going straight into manufacturing.

Once again, apologies for the delays, but we're nearly there! We really appreciate the patience you guys have shown. Edwin and I will be posting updates in this thread when we have them, but we've also just started our Twitter account at www.twitter.com/feralgames, so that's another place where we can keep you informed.

A massive troll? Well I have put on a bit of weight after Christmas, but I didn't think it was *that* noticeable…

it's better preorder now?

Hi guys, can anyone tell me what's the exact release date, and if it's better preorder on Feral now.
BTW: will the product get to UK first, since I'm in US.:)

That seems to be the Million dollar question.

So no one really knows.

Hey IanAtFeral,

If i understand you correctly, The game is finished and ready to go. You just need final approval from Activision and/or Sega before you can manufacture and ship copies. Is there a contact for the publishers that we can express our interests in moving this process along?

Latest from Amazon -

Items not yet dispatched:
Delivery estimate: 1 Feb 2010 - 4 Feb 2010

are you guys gonna make the alexander expansion available for download on macs?

We've currently got no plans to release Alexander, I'm afraid. Mainly for licensing reasons (it's a tricky one).

We haven't announced a release date to anyone yet, but when we have one, I'll post it here right away.

We are the publishers… your interest has been registered! :D Sadly approval just takes as long as it takes, but I assure you things are moving as quickly as they can.

Ian, can you give any idea at all of what sort of timescale we're talking about? I was massively disappointed that it wasn't out for Xmas, but now we have no idea whatsoever of when it may be out? Are we talking days, weeks or months... or years!?

Can I ask who you're awaiting approval from and what the delay is about?

Cheers.

The store *should* select the correct currency based on your location, but it does get it wrong on occasion! If it's picked the wrong country for you, you can choose the correct country by clicking the 'please choose your country' link on the front page of the store. :)

got two question
Do I get it in a nice litlle box or as a download? I like to have the game box in my shelf, miss the old time, Diablo II box *sights* good times! I miss does boxes, now you only get some kind of box with special edition

and second question, I live in sweden, but I maybe find out that I will save money by paying dollars instead of pounds, do you lose something with that, or is it a win situation for me and you loose money from your side?

example:
if something cost 10$ and 10 £
for me it would be cheaper for me to pay with dollars, since the Swedish kr is stronger to Dollar then to the pound

1 £ = 13 swedish kr
1 $ = 7 Swedish kr

in the end, I just want the game, I want you guys to be happy, so if it's better for you I pay in whatever currency you desire, but it would be great to choose =)

Not years! Officially we're saying the timescale is 'soon', to avoid any more disappointment of the kind you mentioned. Believe me, I can't wait to be able to announce a release date! :D

Part of the licensing deal for games we publish is that the original publisher has to approve the game, so it's in testing with them now.

It'll be in a standard DVD case. :)

The webstore picks the currency based on your country – For Sweden I believe it picks Euros. You could set your country to United States to get Dollars, but then your game would be shipped to the United States! Which wouldn't be much fun ;)

standard DVD-case, sounds good to me =)
I will pre-order it today =)

I will see what I can save in dollars ;) I got contacts in USA which can kill for money *nods*
