My previously speedy Gigabyte RX6800XT has taken a performance hit in the Beta of 12.3 Monterey?

Yes, me too, RX 6900 XT and 5700 XT have huge performance issue with Beta 1 of 12.3. I think the new Screen Recorder API is the problem

I've tested it more, and the problems are only with 5xxx and 6xxx video cards. With standard Radeon 580 it's working ok. I guess the video drivers !?

My MPX w5700x is working fine but if I connect a screen to my reference 6900XT performance tanks. So definitely something in the new amd kexts.

Beta 3 still have the same problems. Looks like there is no hardware acceleration with Radeon 6xxx series or 5700 XT

Seems like this is here to stay, even the RC still has this defect.
Perhaps this is helping to accommodate the claims of the M1 being faster than a discrete GPU. :)
6900xt (73af) Geekbench5 metal only 90k with 12.3 rc. any solution?

What surprises the heck out of me - Is that I have not seen hide nor hare of this on any Mac forum, web site, information site or periodical. Nothing anywhere⁉️ IMHO this is a series issue and no one, except in this thread, has addressed it‼️‼️‼️‼️

I can imagine most of you did this already, but I hope you (all of you affected) reach out to Apple Support and escalate the issue up to the engineering team. This is unacceptable. Disclaimer, I have no 7,1! Just want Apple to behave with Mac Pro users!

^^^^Yes, I used Feedback Assistant and reported (complained) to Apple.

I am not familiar with macOS betas, but I guess the above feedback assistant is part of the beta program? If this bug is not resolved once 12.3 is released, calling Apple Support would be my approach. I have done the latter for different other issues in the past, it requires time and patience in order to be able to escalate issues up to the related engineering team. Hopefully multiple support tickets will accelerate fixing the issue.

Does anyone know if this slowdown in 12.3 affects the Radeon VII cards as well?

I'm still on 11.6 and was planning to install 12.3, but now I'm a bit too scared! Does anyone know whether this is Mac Pro-specific or whether it also affects 5700 XT-based iMacs?

Edit: Bit the bullet. Score is still within cooee (actually slightly faster than under 11.6).

Just FYI, my Mac Pro with the W6900X scores remain unchanged. I am still getting approximately 1700000. I never tried it on the beta so I am not sure if the issue is fixed or if maybe MPX modules are unaffected.
