Hmm, I just talked to Mac Support. The tech had never heard of the problem. He assigned a case number and wants me to upgrade one of my other disks, still on Big Sur.

That has been my experience when calling Apple Support about bugs. The first 1-2 support representatives I interacted with were always not knowledgeable/experienced enough to fully understand my description of the problems. The important thing is that they generate a ticket and follow up with their superiors, who would likely suggest to assign the case to a higher level of support representative, even then, likely still without adequate experience, but at least the process is moving up the ladder. At all times, request to get updates about the process, they have to provide them in order to close the ticket (eventually). It does not hurt to make any of the representatives aware of how many years you have been a Mac user (30 years my case), plus that you are one of the "Pro" users, in my experience that helped them quickly escalate things to the proper team (sort of, meaning jumping a couple of extra reps before finally speaking to the one mediator between engineering team and customer). This is why I mentioned having patience in my previous reply, it takes days/weeks to get up to that level, but persistence pays off, once you get to the higher level of support, you can count on them (reps) being essentially intermediaries between you and the engineering team. You all affected by this, please bug Apple until this is fixed for good!!! :)

Just FYI, my Mac Pro with the W6900X scores remain unchanged. I am still getting approximately 1700000. I never tried it on the beta so I am not sure if the issue is fixed or if maybe MPX modules are unaffected.

You mean you get those expected results with macOS 12.2? Or with the just released (as in today) macOS 12.3? OP referenced the 12.3 betas having the issue, not 12.2... or so I understood.

Well, I upgraded one of my other startup disks, one with Big Sur 11.6.3, and the situation has not improved. Wonder if Apple targeted non-Apple cards on purpose. Anyway I'll call them back.

I did not try any of the betas. Today I installed 12.3 and I have not seen a decrease in Geekbench 5 compute scores.

interesting... maybe providing more specs of your setup could help OP and other compare and maybe identify culprit elsewhere...?

Horrible stuttering on 12.3, even when switching desktops. Had to disable all system animations in accessibility.
I've updated to 12.3 to use Metal acceleration in Blender. But right now it is unusable for normal workflow.
Built in Radeon 5500M works fine.
Not what I've expected ;)

I`m on 12.3 RC since like 3 days.

My GB 5.4.4 Metal results with my iMac Pro with eGPU AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT are significantly lower than the 160620 number I got with 12.2.1. One run was about half, the other somewhat higher, but still not anything close to what I know the card can do. I just ran another test and it came in at 136679, so SOMETHING in the drivers have changed.

Update: I just ran the GB Metal test on my old MBP (still running at 12.2.1) and the old results were back again (within <2%,) so it is clearly something that changed in the AMD drivers @ 12.3.

Is this affecting EVERY 5000 and 6000 series GPU? Are there individuals that aren't affected?

The 5700 XT in my iMac (obviously Apple-provided) is unaffected. It seems to mostly affect third-party cards although someone above said their Apple one is affected.

People are using Geekbench. I ran it on 11.6, made a note of the result, then reran it on 12.3 (although to be honest you're not missing anything with 12.3; none of my reported bugs have been fixed and they've seemingly removed a feature I use all the time...)

Just got off the phone with Apple - Spent forty minutes talking. I furnished the Support Guy the links I posted above along with this thread. He finally believes there is a problem. He took information from my Mac and promised to call me with progress he also gave me a link to his personal Apple account. So, Something Is Happening at Apple?

Apple really needs to fix this even with animations off its stuttering and can't get work done.

Wow can't believe this passed QC. I hope a new beta comes out with a fix. I can't downgrade back to 12.2.1

You're a hero.

I also submitted a ticket 3 times and if we all could do that too it would be great.

Update- a more stringent graphics test- Basemark GPU version 1.2.3 - under 12.3 9764. Under 12.2, 12708. It's not just "Geekbench 5." About 76% of former performance.
