Wow. I am always at the end of episode as usual. Did not see this warning or won't update 12.3. Now look at my case that I just post on apple forum (https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253757468?page=1)

I really don't believe rumours and speculations but I think this is really happening to me as well.

Is macOS Monterey 12.3 really trying to slow down my GPUs Performance ?
or because of the OS update GB5 need to make some updates as well in their app ?

I am using 2 x W6800X Duo and RX 6900XT as eGPU. RX6900XT is really help full and great to use along with my W6800X Duos.

I test my GPU performance like other with Geekbench 5 occasionally and it is recorded in my Geekbench Profile.

I bought the Sapphire RX 6900 XT SE and planned to use with Mac Pro when I bought. But measurement was a bit off so ended in eGPU since then.

This is the fastest score I have ever got over eGPU with iMac.

Sold the iMac later and bought Mac Pro 2019 with W5700X. But RX 6900XT is still in eGPU but drop the performance with newer macOS.

Then upgraded to 12.2

Now . . . I just upgraded to macOS Monterey 12.3 because of Blender statement (https://docs.blender.org/manual/en/latest/render/cycles/gpu_rendering.html)

But after upgraded to 12.3 my RX 6900 XT performance is dropping to the ground. I thought something wrong with my upgrade. So I erased and reinstalled and this is my 3 times already and getting same result.

Please take a look how much it dropped with 12.3

If there is no option then can you please point me to get get Apple Official macOS 12.2 DMG file to download ?

Looks like your egpu 6900xt setup is faster then my 6900xt inside a mac pro very strange. 6900xt.png

This is the w6800x

i will call Apple today.

I just called Apple Support, and the woman said they have NO RECORD of anyone reporting on this LOL. So please, everyone, call Apple today and share your issues. My case ID is 101659141356
I've submitted it into Feedback Assistant, and it showed as 'Recent Similar Reports: None'. Could be because it doesn't fit well into the categories they have for Graphics issues.

Apple is real good at saying "No Record" or "Never Heard of this Before."

I just sent a follow-Up to the support person I was speaking to. My Case No. is 101653519203.

Some came up by saying my Geekbench is Synthetic and can't rely. Buy when apple show their synthetic result in performance on their Events were fine LOL.
Today tried to test Unigine with both 12.2.1 and 12.3.

Unigen.jpg

Is Unigine synthetic too ? The numbers are totally different and a lot of FPS drop in 12.3.
The only different here is Darwin version . Don't know why it is not the same though. This is eGPU and I am sure with internal it will be much faster.

Tried again the Geekbench in macOS Monterey 12.2.1 and number is astonishing even with eGPU. Some also told me If I want to see number I can alter it by some coding but why should I do that. I suspect whoever told me that must be from Apple ?

I totally respect if for some people Geekbench is important.
For me it is irrelevant, I just need to be able to work in Premiere Pro and After Effects. And It was virtually impossible to play back im real time under 12.3 (with some heavy motion graphic templates) and my AMD 6900xt connected to my monitors via Display port.

For me 12.2.1 is the only way. Unless I disconnect one of my GPUs and plug a MPX like someone else did, haven’t test that, but not worth it if 12.2 works fines.

I really do not think anyone care about what Geekbench scores are.
However it is become one of the measurement tools which everyone can use across the globe without spending any money. Not everybody are using exact same software. Some use Paid software, some use free version with limitation, some use older version etc.

I did tried the whole day with 12.3 and 12.2.1.

12.3 is slowing down my sapphire RX 6900XT nearly 50% in Davinci Resolve RocketScience_6K test.

I got only 4-5 FPS in 66Blur Node and same in 6TNR.
It's even worst when I tried to use all of my GPU. it seems 12.3 do not allow eGPU or RX6900XT together with MPX Modules at all. Couldn't pass more than 10-11fps

Another shocking result is in After Effects. it cannot even play 24fps which is already cached. Only get 17fps.

As a Mac Pro 2019 user I am hopping the macOS Monterey 12.2.1 is not our last OS.
Need to save the installer in proper SAFE ?

Officially you can use Feedback Assistant (press Cmd-Space and search for it), but be aware that Apple is really good at ignoring it.

I have never done the Feedback Assistant before. This will be first time. But I wish someone post a screenshot which category we need to go with would be very helpful. Just want to send one same category and same report.

I guess Migration Assistant doesn't allow to import data from a newer macOS into an older macOS.
But corpnewt is a very authoritative voice in the mac and hack world.

Feedback Assistant is drek? Call Apple and get a case number as has previously been suggested.

Agreed. Call Apple Support until this is resolved! I don't have a 7,1 but have I have an RX5700 in my 4,1>5,1 that I hope to continue working properly with OC in future macOS upgrades! Call them and follow up! :)

I was able to easily. I have successfully rolled back both my Mac Pro and my M1 Max MacBook pro. I was having issues with 12.3 beyond the Navi GPU issues. Now all is good and I have somehow reclaimed over 100GB of lost harddrive space on both machines. iCloud was being very strange in 12.3 for me taking up tons of space.

There's threads on tonymacx86.com about the slow down issue and a possible solution

OpenCore should work on Macs that don't need OpenCore. OCLP has an option to do that type of installation.
The DeviceProperties could also maybe added using nvram.

Yea, good stuff there. I was actually able to easily revert back to 12.2.1, which is my preferred method on the 7,1 at this time...

And to add - I tried all day to get 12.3.1 to show up in "Software Update" but no luck. Finally tonight, I found and downloaded the 12.3.1 full installer - That worked. Anybody else have trouble not finding 12.3.1 in "Software Update"❓
