No bad reviews but wasn't impressed with video quality samples over on btekt

Other than that its getting glowing reviews, and as I say for the big price difference between it and the alpha and even bigger against the iPhone 6.

Not getting that price difference in Sweden sadly, all those three are within about 40€ of each other here. :/

I'm heavily influencing my gf to get a Z3 at the moment, might have a report for you soon.... I really dig the way it looks. Those small design changes from the Z2 really made all the difference for me, it doesn't look nearly as bezel-tastic as the Z2.

BTW have you read bad early reviews about it? The ones I've found have all been very positive.
I haven't seen anything negative for the Z3. But I have seen a ton of reviews of the Z2 and Sony phones. They seem to be all over the map. Some love love the Z2 then others hate on it. I will have to see it in person before i buy a Sony phone for this reason.

Ya the Z2 reviews were all over the place. But for the Z3 the opinions seem to be unanimously positive really.

Yeah if I was to pay more then I would go for iPhone 6 on resale value alone, but €260 difference between 64gb iPhone 6 and 32gb Alpha which is what I was deciding in is too wide to ignore. Worse case scenario, don't like alpha I will resell decent enough pricing (though S5's resale value didn't hold greatly this year)...

Ah, I missed the bit about 64gb sorry. Then the price dif is more like €140 here. But €260 is huge.

Don't be so mean to Sony

I'm interested in seeing how it compares to the SGS5 and other flagships.

TouchWiz seems to be a lot better now, so I'm sure it will be as good as on the SGS5.

Only concern is the battery. Everything else looks excellent.

Reviews seem to I dictate it's as good as the S5 despite its smaller size, I'll do a full comparison between them when it arrives :)

The only thing I'll miss is the IR Blaster

From GSMArena:

Perhaps it was Samsung's custom-made Exynos chipset (the first mobile chipset at 20nm, while Snapdragons are at 28nm) but the Galaxy Alpha managed very respectable numbers, actually better than the One mini 2 managed.

The endurance ratings for both are virtually the same - 50 hours for the HTC, two more for the Samsung. You'll need to charge both every two days of moderate usage, every day with heavy usage.

But the Samsung Galaxy Alpha can give you three hours more of talk time, meaning you can make 30% more calls on average at the same charging schedule. The HTC One mini 2 does 10 hours - more than you can do in a sitting but less power usage during calls also means more power left over for other tasks.

I always see bad comments about Samsung Exynos chip, i had the Note 3 exynos variant and it handle like a champ in performance and battery life  giving me 6hrs + on cellular data full day.

I'm not one to BS. Just received some inside info from a higher up at AT&T that hinted the Alpha was coming to AT&T in Q4.

Also this must have slipped by me a while back.

Too thin, people will drop it. Why is Samsung on this "thinner!!11!1!!!"-trip?
No Micro-SD? That's a joke.
Protruding camera - completely unusable on flat surfaces like Starbucks coffee tables.

Fail.

Just had to revisit this comment after the iPhone 6 was released.

Just got confirmation from Carphonewarehouse that I should have mine on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Played with one today in person, god its a lovely phone. Beautiful screen (despite resolution it seems better than the S5 to me) and it feels amazing on the hand. Really premium and really thin and super light. Can't wait for my own to finally get here.

Please don't tempt me to return my SGS5 and go for the Alpha

I'm liking the SGS5 so much I think I'm gonna stay with Samsung for a while and I'm gonna keep my eyes on their new phones, like the Alpha.
