Here is a good video comparing the alpha v Z3 compact. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XTTD9UEtO8o

keeps saying the Alpha is cut back and the Z3 compact isn't and yet watch his review and

Z3 is thicker and heavier
Z3 compact smaller screen (he claims its 1920x1080 which is wrong)
Z3 scores less in Antutu compared the the Alpha
Z3 has less battery life compared to the Alpha despite smaller battery in the Alpha

Interesting....the price is lower in the US for full price purchase...

Samsung Galaxy Alpha will be available for purchase from AT&T starting September 26th for $199 with a two year contract. At full retail the carrier will charge $612.99 for this device. Customers can go with AT&T Next 18 and Next 12 plans under which they will have to pay $25.55 or $30.65 per month respectively for the Galaxy Alpha, which will be available in black, gold and white colors.

Just checked out the Alpha, beautiful form factor, much better than the iPhone 6.

No exynos octo.
Please take your time with the review. My wallet begs you! ;)
Will do, just post my thoughts later and do a proper full review in a couple days time. But suffice to say so far very impressed.
Lol, man, I thought I got through a lot of phones...you've had just about all the major phones.
Lol. I know. Madness

I think it's only an Exynos Octa for the Alpha. And all cores run at the same time. Other than the 720P screen, this thing is a high end device. Not sure why people keep calling it midrange. Unless that's how Samsung is marketing it.

Yep. I believe it scores better Antutu than the 801 Z3 compact. In no way does this phone feel mid range.

Will run it myself later and post results. Just snapping photos and the camera is very good.

Yep basically. This alpha is scoring better overall marks than the Galaxy S5, HTC M8, One +1, Xaomi Mi3, Note 3 .....

Now the screen resolution is helping that, but that's still super super impressive, and puts any thought of it being 'midrange' to sleep.

How responsive is the UI now? Are you happy with the phone so far? Is it a keeper for you? Were you able to take some pictures of that great Irish countryside! :)

Very responsive. Even the samsung gallery has none of that old lag that plagued all of the devices so far, and it properly syncs with Google PHOTOS too.

Yep snapping photos away - To me it's what a Samsung device should be

awesome

im all for the lower res screen

very interested in battery life too

ah is that right? that's a bummer, I wonder if the exynos is the largest factor in this phone's performance

Yeah battery seems good so far. I am hammering it because I'm obviously using more photos and such - but yeah impressive.
