Whilst I can see why many would initially say why run DEX on your laptop or Mac when you you have airdrop or wifi direct and before it was more encouraged as a standalone features on a TV or monitor

Its typical of Android and MS to encourage cross platform functions and options that suit may different scenarios and users

One of my pet hates is Apples way or the highway approach of doing things so much so that many do not realise there are alternatives (Bitch Over)

The obvious advantages of multiple file/directory support of drag and drop and interfacing with laptop drives utilising ts KB and trackpad for intensive tasks is a given

I can see social media addicts revelling in options and sources so readily available and an added real estate for mobile gamer to enjoy

I also see Apple users who only occasionally use MS Office can now play on the big screen for free with Office Mobile

I'm sure there are many more and having the option is a great bonus

I look forward to reading all your reviews of your Note 10's when they start to arrive. And see the pictures you all snap.

I am curious though, why so many people are buying one.
I know a lot of us like to try new devices, and then move on, but this doesn't seem to do anything different to the S10's other than the S-Pen, and so many people moved on from their S10 fairly quickly (minus a few people), so what is it about the Note that's different?
Or is it just, I can afford it so I'm getting it to try etc. Which in an ideal world if I had the money to do I would - but nope. :D

Yes.

Edit: okay I’ll elaborate. Because actually with all the expenses and fees from the start of a new school year I can’t say it’s exactly a thrill to be spending more money. In fact, I question it daily. In fact, if it’s not a significantly different experience within my 15 day return period I will return it.

I wanted to go back to Note series last year. But then my super duper steroid enhanced advanced preorder turned into a backorder situation that for me, lasted a month and then I said the hell with it, IPhones are about to released, I will cancel. My husband just for the hell of it kept his preorder open. And open. And open. And open. Months passed. iPhones were announced. iPhones were ordered. iPhones were shipping out. Note 9 in the configuration we had selected were not. He eventually canceled.

We always meant to pick a Note 9 up on sale but then the rumors about the S10 series having wide angle lenses beckoned. Meanwhile our S9’s were superlative. The call of the S Pen waned.

Now I’ve got another pre-pre ordered Note. And again Samsung has screwed me over on delivery dates. I was supposed to get it this Friday. Now for no apparent reason, others who ordered days after I did are getting the exact same model (carrier, color, configuration) delivered before I am due to get mine. Even someone who lives in the same state as me is reporting his is getting here on time. So it’s not my location either. I don’t see any special mitigating factors impacting my delivery. Yet I won’t see mine for another week and a half.

My S10+ had also been delayed well beyond what we expected when taking into account my husband’s S10+ purchase and trade in needed to be processed first.

This is absolutely insane. Did I insult DJ Koh’s grandmother or something?

And meanwhile guess what, I’m hearing more appealing rumors about the S11. I’m hearing more appealing rumors about the iPhone. Not so sure about the Pixel 4 rumors...those are a mixed bag, honestly. But it’s almost like DJ Koh himself is saying “GrumpyMom, no Note for you!”

I need to just hang in there if I want this. Samsung is not making it easy.

But anyway, back to your question: time of flight AR oriented camera. S Pen. Nicer looking bigger display. Customized Note software. Digital zoom audio recording. Updated camera software. There’s something else but I’m too sleepy to remember what it was.

Really though. I actually enjoyed my time with the S10+ quite a bit, but I got sucked back into Apple, but I think I’m prepared to take an extended LOA from Apple. iOS just isn’t as clean as it used to be.

My biggest choice is between the Note and Pixel at this point and part of me has thought about canceling the preorder and waiting until the Pixel 4 keynote, but the preorder deals are so tempting. Plus, by the time I’d get the Pixel, it probably wouldn’t be until early November and history isn’t on Google’s side with preorders and stable first batch of phones.

The note 10+ is bigger, has the S-pen, faster wired and wireless charging, faster inbuilt storage, more advanced Dex, a better camera, 12GB of ram. That’s what makes it better than the S10.

I think it's definitely a hobby for some, and then some people are also not good with money.

Apart from the above given most are getting great trade-ins bundled goodies and effectively a new warranty less than some pay for just Apple care or a little more maybe and a significant storage bump :D

This is smart move for most and above all fun :)

All seems a bit reaching to me though. Like faster charging, faster in built storage?
I'm not knocking the list by the way, it's great there are very small upgrades compared to the S10, but by and large you are virtually getting the exact same experience of the S10 only with a pen?

I think it's an interesting discussion given that I've read a few articles recently where tech writers have criticised Samsung for not really doing enough, particularly with the camera etc.

It just strikes me as strange that so many moved away from the S10 quite quickly in favour of something else, but are going straight back to the Note - probably only to go straight back to the iPhone / Pixel 4. I myself am guilty of it, but it makes me wonder why we do it. I guess I'll never understand the addiction. :D

lol, you will be back.

Over/Under set at 2 months before your Note hits the marketplace :)

I just sold the wifes S8 today so she can have my S10+ and I also sold my old MS folding BT KB

So I'm on the hunt now for a new portable BT KB preferably with back light, any recommendations ?

I'm sorry I don't understand this.

I'm just answering their question from my experiences. I'm not commenting on anyone here, I don't know any of you.
Well mostly I’m joking with you because you mentioned not being good with money as a factor. That’s a bit of an ouch. The hobby part is fine and accurate. I also like a good cat meme.

I’m good with money, but this is part of what I consider my “entertainment budget” until I actually have the time and freedom to go out and do other entertaining things. Which actually our family recently got a taste of doing. And we got hit with significant sticker shock. To leave the house and actually do typical summer vacation stuff and have to pay for food and even just plain water while out and about is astonishingly expensive.

However, this was a rare window of opportunity before things change again and we get hit with the next wave of...stuff that life with aging parents and pets throws at us.

Anyway, I have to say messing around with phones seems almost economical compared to trying to live a life of adventures like everyone else we know “living their best lives”. I no longer resent the fact my parents almost never took me anywhere or let me do anything when I was a kid. Good grief we wouldn’t have been able to grocery shop for a month, at least, if they had. My family now obviously has a more privileged life but still... It sure is expensive to leave the house.

What is this nonsense that it's only a pen? I use my s pen daily for notes, quick sketches, and navigation. With the Note 10 (and 9), I can use the bluetooth function and take selfies, group shots, and some new animations. For me, the pen is fantastic. At this point, who else has a pen (the lg one is not even in the Note's league)?
