Hope they go back to offering power user features only and stop with the gimmicks like Animoji.

Been a Note customer since the 2 but they need to offer Windows 10 DeX or no buy.

Windows 10? That's a different OS. I only see an expanded Android OS. what do you mean?

He means being able to run Windows 10 in the DeX station.

It's a different company and different OS that's not made for the mobile device. Unless you partition the phone with windows OS .... Android is a whole different language. So it would run Linux and not windows. Windows is prioritory like Apple.. Not open-sourced like Android / Linux - you pay for windows but Linux is FREE.

Windows would be pushing for windows mobile to run innately.

I think we should hope for a better development of the native apps in Android and 3rd party solutions.
[doublepost=1520794189][/doublepost]Also they can't be run in the same partition . How would you even put them together in one partition

I don't see DeX changing much except getting more support for Microsoft apps and features.

The fact that Microsoft now have Galaxy S8, S9 and Note8 MS Editions, it could mean better MS integration into DeX.

I kind of want the s9 due to size. The Note 8 is a bit big and I do not use the pen at all.

I love my Note8 and at this stage I'm thinking I may skip the 9, but I know I'll be mighty tempted when it's announced.

I got a cheap adapter from Amazon that supports DeX and it's pretty impressive as it stands - I use 9 for email and that is fully supported, along with the Office apps and it works really well. The one strange one that wasn't supported was Microsoft RDP client, but I found an app (called DeX Max) that lets you scale any app to work with DeX and that fixed it nicely.

The biggest issue with DeX is still the need to have a monitor, mouse and keyboard everywhere you want to use it (I'd love a DeX laptop style dock), but if you have them available it works and works well

That is exactly what I am waiting for as well. Some kind of lapdock to insert a Galaxy Note.
Some like the old Motorola Atrix had a few years ago...The lapdock also had a battery that could charge the phone while it docked.

I just hope Samsung can do it better :)

That would be awesome, imagine if the note could be docked and used as a track pad!

Yeah I got the Note because I thought the big screen, the dual cameras, and the pen would be something I would use often.
For me, the S9 does most of what I need in a smaller form factor.

This is a very encouraging direction for them to take, as far as I am concerned. It would let them have room for larger batteries and still allow us to have large immersive displays. I don't know that I want to continue on with Apple if face ID is the only biometric option they intend to offer going forward.

Now that this fingerprint technology is a possibility and Samsung may be pursuing it, I could be coming to a parting of ways with iPhone.

I don't know that I would get a Note 9, though, given that I am quite pleased with my S9+ and would prefer to hold onto all of my current phones for two years, this time. I guess the wild card would be if I find my use constrained by the relatively mediocre battery life I'm getting so far. Quick charge mitigates that very well, though. At any rate, I love to read about these phones, so it's still exciting to see this rumor pop up.

That is my only complaint about the S9+ so far is the battery life isn't what I expected.

I din't say the battery life was bad......
It is not quite what the Note 8 was that I came from.

heh, shall rephase. How's the battery life in comparison to other comparable models? Getting through a day with some juice remaining shouldn't be a problem I hope?

My husband, as a business user who also plays a couple of games on his phones for a few minutes here and there every day, thinks his iPhone X is doing better on battery life.

To me they seem about the same (but I no longer have the X for direct comparison. I can’t throw out any numbers for screen on time because I don’t really keep track.

I'm getting pretty much the equivalent of the Note 8 on my S9+. I thought it would be a little more improved.

It is noted that the S9/S9+ produces higher average nit brightness, so maybe that's why.

Same here, seems the same for me. And I also rarely check battery stats.

Having a lazy weekend battling another bout of flu or cold trying to take hold. From last night to this afternoon I ran my iPhone 8 Plus and S9+ side by side. I played Sims Mobile on both. They were taken off the chargers at the same time and then both ran down to about 60% at the same time so I put both back on chargers early in the afternoon. I put the iPhone on an iPad charger and the Samsung on the charger that came with my S8+.

They were both back up to 83% for the iPhone and 82% for the Samsung when I took them off the charger roughly around half an hour later. Keep in mind I wasn’t being super precise on any of this but there was enough commonality during the whole process to reassure me the S8+ is on a par with my iPhone 8 Plus for battery life during my typical relaxed use. I’ll get the chance to road test next weekend.

My husband continues to be disappointed in his battery life but loves the S9+ otherwise. I am pretty sure he’s going for a Note 9 if they give it a bigger battery.

The Note 8 does so much for me and it’s totally smooth. I think I will be waiting for the Note X before switching phones. It’s nothing I really need on a phone at this point. Fall and Winter 2019 looks to be my next big Tech transition period.

Note8 isn't bad at all, just think I miss Apple a bit. Will probably end up switching back to the iPhone and selling off the Note. The Note has great features and does a great job as phone and productivity tool. I think I miss the ease of use the iPhone provides for what I do.

Yes because this look is not pretty at all lol.

I think the note line succeed at being the best all in one device- tablet, phone, laptop and drawing device. I think the note can be bigger in size (7.5" - iPad mini ratio) to really fulfill that all in one device. Hopefully that can happen for either the 9 or 10.

As for portability, I think smart watches can be the best for portability and always be present on your person.

If Samsung can make this happen, I'll be so happy and I don't need so many devices because I am more minimalistic when it comes to gadgets.

I'm not too keen on the note series becoming much larger than they are.
I tiny bit maybe but anything close to a tablet, or unpocketable and I won't buy one.
And I'm almost certain to be a Note 9 pre-order kinda guy.
