Without starting a war, I am looking for real world honest feedback on how you guys/gals do it:

  • I want a Note 9
  • I have an iPhone X and will be getting the X+ when it comes out
  • I enjoy both Android and iOS and used to do this annually...havent done it in about 3 years
  • I want to have the variety of using both devices seamlessly and mixing it up every now and again
Is there anything you have found that makes this super simple to do in owning both phones and when to determine to use which, ensuring all texts and apps and such are seamlessly on both, etc.

I love having the opportunity to choose and use both but looking for real world advice on what process or flow works best for you if you live in both worlds.

Thanks for the feedback here!
I use both all the time. The first step is to get all of your services to Google for one central spot to sync on both iPhone and Android. This way Calendar, Contacts, Notes all sync on all devices. If you have a lot of music and playlists in iTunes...Download and install iSyncr on your MAC and Android phone. This app will sync all of your music and playlists to your Android phone.
Just remember when switching sims from your iPhone to an Android to sign out of iMessages first.
Enjoy!

Well, I'm a little different since I have to line, one for work (Android) and one for personal use (iPhone). But I do use alot of cross compatibility apps so that I have most of my stuff available on both platforms. Here is what I use.
I use pulse for SMS, while it doesn't sync messages across both platforms, there is a webportal on iOS that I use to view and send text messages from my work line Android phone.
I use Google voice for voicemail.
I have YouTube red which includes music streaming on both platforms.
I use Gmail for my contacts, calenders, email
I use the app anytime movies to sync most of my iTunes movies to my playmovies app.
I use Dropbox to sync certain folders across platforms
And I use Google photos to sync pictures/videos

Hope this helps.

Yeah, the only issue I have is I have my voicemail set up with Google voice, and sometimes that gets reset to the carrier after I switch my sim.
With ATT?

I am considering it though my wife would kill me

Also, you just move your sim to each accordingly? No issue?

I would worry I have way too many options and when to use what. Analysis paralysis!!!

By far the most annoying part of going back-and-forth between OS's. I've become quite good at completely deregistering iMessage over the years though from experience haha.
[doublepost=1535067525][/doublepost]I find I'm using the edge panel waaaay more on this Note than I ever did on the S8 early last year. At least I think it was a feature of the S8? Now that I took time to set it up, it's good for some quick access to things. The little bar never gets in the way of content either, which is nice.

All good advice. Another option for music syncing (though not sure how long this will be available since Google appears to be migrating towards YouTube Music) is to upload your entire music library to Google Play music and use it on both platforms. It's free and let's you have everything in sync across all platforms, ready to stream or download for offline listening.

And if you plan to regularly switch your sim, save the headaches and just turn off Apple Messages altogether. Not worth the potential messages lost into the ether. ;) If possible, see if your most frequent contacts (for me that's my wife and kids) are willing to switch to a 3rd party messaging platform to for easier syncing across devices.

Apple used to be leaders, but they're now drunk on power. I'm referring to their power over their users. Apple know their users are accepting of anything they do (and I mean ANYTHING), and because of that, they'll keep offering the bare minimum until they start losing customers. There's not a single Android OEM that would get away with selling a phone that looks as dated as the iPhone 8/8 Plus. Then there's the notch. Let's not forget, it was an Android phone that had the notch first, and it wasn't even as big as the X's notch. Nonetheless, the tech world made fun of it like it was a cheap Chinese knock off design. And now, the tech media (including Android sites) are saying Android phones are copying the X and it's notch. What? lol. These so called tech sites, especially the Android ones, should know better than to spew such garbage. So, when a company holds this kind of influence, they won't be anywhere near the front leading the industry. Nope, they'll be somewhere in the middle, in cruise control, with no care or desire to accelerate to the front.

I think saying Apple phones are the "bare minimum" isn't accurate at all. In many ways their phones are ahead. Sure the 8/8+ look dated in mid to late 2018, but it is a 2017 phone that is about to be refreshed, so it really should be compared to 2017 phones, plus you have the X to compare. IMO the X looks the best out of any of these current phones because of the way they balanced the bezels all around, even though it actually has less screen to body than other phones. They are one of the few (if not the only) ones who don't have any bottom bezel at all. I'll add that IMO the notch is an advantage, not a disadvantage and I think it looks fine and honestly don't notice it at all. It's just a narrow bezel that has the added function of housing the status bar. Your Android phone has a notch also, but they blacked it out so it goes all the way to the sides. Apple comes out with a lot of new tech and paradigms as well that seem to stick like face ID, gestures, etc. Their infrastructure for their services is more widely supported for things such as Apple pay and banking.

There are other advantages with Apple phones as well that can partially justify the cost. Privacy seems to be on everyone's mind these days, and that's somewhere that Apple excels at and Google seems to be becoming more and more evil by the minute. Customer service is a BIG one IMO, just having a physical store near your house where you can physically get the phone inspected and serviced the same day is phenomenal, especially after dealing with garbage customer service from Samsung. I hear Google has decent customer service, but you're still going to be sending that phone in. Apple's stores are setup nicely as well, with their genius appointment system so you don't have to wait and every time I've gone in they really seem to focus on keeping me happy.

I don't think they are market leaders anymore, but I don't think they are in the middle or the back either by a longshot. I'm definitely not saying they are better, well just for myself at least. But they are definitely not worse.

Did you order the 512GB?

Amazon

But good about getting discount. They are good if you complain. I subscribe to prime and anytime they are late with a delivery I complain and they give me prime free for a month.

No just the 128GB, I've been looking online for places with it in stock to collected today but having no luck, might just have to wait an extra week. I do like the peace of mind returns with Amazon if there are any problems.

I've been a Prime member for years, probably had a full years worth of free months so far. :D

My wife already killed me last night for ordering the Note 9. This is my ghost typing now.

The Galaxy Watch is really impressive and beautiful. Anybody getting it with their Note?

My Gear S3 Classic is still going strong and I don't see that much of a difference, frankly. I'll probably rock this bad boy til it stops working! It's received some great software updates that look almost identical to what the Galaxy Watch seems to have.

I get so many compliments on the Gear S3 Classic (put my own stainless steel strap from an old watch on it).

My case still hasn't turned up so I thought I'd take the opportunity to see what the standby is like on the Note 9, it has been on nearly two days and is at 43%.
I haven't really used it, I'll never get the chance to do his test again once I start using the device.

The always on display has used the most, naturally.

Can't wait to pick mine up today from Best Buy. Got my Essential Phone from the Amazon $225 deal earlier this week and have been setting it up. Great form factor and can't complain at the price at all. Its my first true stock Android phone since the Nexus 6p. After using it for a day or so, I realized how much I miss all the Samsung stuff. Maybe its just the familiarity with Sammy and the menus but I surprised myself. I've had the Note series since the 5 and a S5 and S6 as well. The first thing I have always done is install Nova and get it to look and feel as stock as possible. Still there are so many tweaks in the skin that I didn't realize I would miss. Going to try the 9 as stock Sammy as possible and live with that a while before I default to Nova.

Besides what others have mentioned. If you plan on switching your sim back n forth on a regular basis, you should use Google Voice for your Visual Voicemail service. Cause it can be a pain to get the default Visual Voicemail on your iPhone if you use your sim on Android too long. Plus Google Visual Voicemail is just so much better on both platforms.

I use Google Voicemail on my Android and iPhone, and it's seamless between devices. You can also use it on non-phone devices, and on a browser.

What’s the difference from the gear S3. Nobody has said there’s any difference

There are some differences. The chip is better, it's lighter too... But from what I've seen, it's basically like a cross between the S3 and the Gear Sport. Plus there are two sizes. The bigger size one has a much bigger battery, and it's supposed to be even better battery life than the S3.

I'm sure the Rose Gold 42mm one will fly off the shelves. Every female I know who likes my S3 said it's great but too big, and this Rose Gold one seems to hit the mark.

Personally, I'm fine with my S3 which will soon be 2 years old. It's working perfectly well and shout out to Samsung for making Tizen SO SO GOOD.

I bought the S3 Frontier because there's just not that much of a difference, and specifically the S3 supports MST via Samsung Pay, where the Galaxy Watch does not.
