I bought the S3 Frontier because there's just not that much of a difference, and specifically the S3 supports MST via Samsung Pay, where the Galaxy Watch does not.
What? I was kinda tempted to pick one up after I get a series 4 Apple watch, but if that's the case I'll skip it.

Besides what others have mentioned. If you plan on switching your sim back n forth on a regular basis, you should use Google Voice for your Visual Voicemail service. Cause it can be a pain to get the default Visual Voicemail on your iPhone if you use your sim on Android too long. Plus Google Visual Voicemail is just so much better on both platforms.

I use Google Voicemail on my Android and iPhone, and it's seamless between devices. You can also use it on non-phone devices, and on a browser.

I've never heard of Google voicemail so i will definitely check it out, thanks!

Thanks Epicrayban for posting the video on the Galaxy Watch. I am still wearing my original Apple Watch and it continues to work well in spite of very heavy usage and daily (or more) recharging. I did see the Galaxy Watch for the first time recently and I was very attracted to the display and features of this watch. One may well be in my future, especially after watching the video you posted.

Amazon notified me last night that my Note 9 512 will arrive 8/24 instead of the promised 8/28. Really looking forward to that and getting my data moved over.

One of the reasons Samsung’s Gear S3 was so compelling was the addition of Samsung Pay. Being able to pay from your wrist is very handy, and the Galaxy Watch can still do this. However, Samsung has removed an important part of the system, and that’s MST. This feature, which is on Samsung’s phones still, allows a device to emulate a standard credit card and enable device payments at pretty much any store.

This feature was dropped from last year’s Gear Sport, and now it’s also been removed from bothmodels of the Galaxy Watch. Samsung told me that a large reason for this was to improve battery life, but it’s a shame to lose such a useful feature. Thankfully, it’s still available on the Gear S3 which is still being supported.

ATT store right down the road has 5 in stock of the combination I want.

Do I finally take the plunge and:
Add a 3rd line for an annual android dabble and grab the Note
Upgrade to unlimited data finally
Risk sleeping on the couch for a week

Don’t make me choose!!

Got my Note 9, still working so I can’t really dive too much into it other than I’ve set it up and download my most used apps.

Frustratingly, it looks like you can’t disable the bixby button anymore. If anyone figures out how to do it, please let know.

I'd put a few pillows on the couch and snuggle in mate!

How lumpy is the couch? ;)

My husband has the opposite problem, as you can well imagine from the fact his wife is hanging out here of all places.

Actually, he dragged his feet on preorders, and tried to preorder the same model and color I did last night while the Samsung site was still offering preorders and free headphones. He decided to go for 512/8 after all. Well, Samsung told him sorry, no can do. They can’t process more than one trade-in preorder per household “at a time”.

They are allowing the preorder to stay in their system but it’s on some sort of “hold” until they process MY preorder and trade in. His ship date would have been after September 30. Mine is week of September 24.

He will only do this if he can trade in his S8+, like I’m doing. We are financially “comfortable” but we are not crazy. He’s not keeping a phone he doesn’t like all that much or use anymore when it can be used to get $400 off the phone he does want.

Last year we both did preorder with trade-ins of our S7 Edges. We never were told of a one transaction per household limit before. I suppose now it must be in fine print somewhere but we didn’t bother looking for it since we didn’t run into this last year.

He’s not completely sure he’s going to through with the preorder anyway. He loves his Huawei P20 Pro so far. If he decides to make it his main Android phone over his S9+ I doubt he would want a Note 9. He could just hold out for something more revolutionary like an S10, which I personally intend to skip.

I hope Apple comes out with good upgrades in a few weeks. I’d like to see my husband trade in his iPhone X and get something better on the iOS side. His particular X has a horrible display with nasty blue shift and he’s always mad at it for various reasons, mostly Face ID failure at the most annoying times. At one time he was going to pass it to me but I don’t want it. I want him to trade it in while it still has value and before the warranty expires.

Its a pretty comfy couch actually so not all that bad ;)

Another good thing is that Samsung has changed their deal from the headphones and Fortnite items (zero interest in either) to a free wireless charge duo and case. Much better combo of free items I'd love to get for the unlocked version.

Not another decision, buy unlocked for cool amazing freebies or do a manageable NEXT plan and create an avenue for the Samsung latest and created each year.

Fun weekend ahead.

Yeah I saw that change in offer. I still might prefer the headphones. I’ll have to think about it.

FWIW the headphones are really really good, and I'm so glad I got them, but not everyone needs an extra pair of headphones.

Picked mine up from BB a couple of hours ago. What a nice phone! Big phone!
Battery life (too early to tell of course) has been nice so far. It had 55% when I turned it on. Setting it up and installing apps and playing around with it and its down to 43% after 2.5 hours. Not too bad...... Battery life might just be a major upgrade from the S9 and N8.

My battery life has been stellar these first few days. I finished the day yesterday with 7.5 HRS SOT at 15%. That was with playing an hour an hour of podcasts and two hours of Spotify with the screen off. About an hour of video as well. My resolution is set to QHD+ as well.

Today I'm at 1:30 SOT with 78% left. Lots of Spotify in the background.

How long does it take to learn your usage? I'm in the third day and it still says "learning your usage patterns" under the battery screen.

2 minor critiques or observations. The FPS needs to be round and a little indented. Its a little hard to find with my finger.
The edges need to be a little more rounded imho...not a complaint mind you but it would give it a better feel in the hand. Since it is a big phone a rounded edge would be more enjoyable to hold.
No camera bump so it lies flat on my work desk. No wobble :)

Only been a couple of days, but battery life is a significant upgrade so far.

Been playing around with my Note 9 for the past 6 hours or so. Comparing it to my Pixel 2 XL is a lot harder than I thought!

- Note 9 battery life already seems superb
- The S Pen is cool (my first experience)
- Build quality outstanding as usual
- Size is almost identical to Pixel 2 XL (in its case)
- Screen is insane, also love the lack of a notch
- Speakers are SO MUCH BETTER, WOW
- Lots of features I missed (e.g. HR sensor, hearing test thingy, better Gear S3 integration)
- Love all the functions (the Pixel seems simple by comparison)

- The camera compared to the Pixel 2... Hmmm. I'm going to need convincing.
- CANNOT DISABLE STUPID BIXBY BUTTON
- FPS is a bit too flat but I'd get a case which would help
- NO ALCANTARA CASE FROM SAMSUNG?!
- The Pixel is a lot simpler (in a good way)

Going to have a good think over the weekend before I commit either way. Can't wait for everyone else's thoughts!
