Lol, actually there's been recent articles as well as anecdotes from last year from our own MR forum members indicating, at least among the Millennial age group, that it can be harmful to one's social life and ability to attract dates if you go with Android. I don't pay a whole lot of heed to what passes for journalism these days, but I do pay attention to the concerns voiced by the young people on this forum.
Ah, but why are we bothering with this anyway. This thread is composed of adults of all ages who just love tech and all its many "flavors" and we buy what suits us.
Not all of us will think the Note 9 is appealing. But for those who are interested, this is the place to be!
Changing gears for a moment, I found out my Fitbit Charge 2 is NOT officially supported on the S9+ and looking at compatibility lists for the upcoming Charge 3, Note 9 is not mentioned there either, nor is anything past S7 Edge, if I remember correctly.
One reason I got the Charge 2 at all was to break away from Apple a little bit for wearables. I had been using it with my iPhone 8 Plus and enjoyed it very much. I had assumed it would work on the Samsung flagships but with all the stuff going on in my life hadn't gotten around to testing the Charge 2 with my S9+ Well, surprise, I guess that is the danger of assuming anything these days.
I'm very disappointed because I was very enthusiastic about the Fitbit Charge 3 and seeing how it works with the Note 9. My goal is always to work toward being completely capable of being independent of iPhones, even if I decide to keep using them. I want to be using iPhones because I want to, not because I'm stuck having to.
Anyway, I thought the Charge 3 would be a wonderful cross platform option for wearables. I guess I'll have to see if Fitbit updates their official list. When I get home I'll have to see if my Charge 2 can work with my S9+ despite there being no official support.
Sad sigh. Even when I think I've broken out of the ecosystem, I haven't really. In the USA the prevalence and dominance of iPhone makes itself felt outside of Apple offerings in many and sometimes subtle ways. It can be rather daunting for those of us who crave independence and a wider array of options.
