Camera quality is very close to $2000 body only Sony Alpha a7 III camera. Makes the $1K price more palatable.
The detail in the sky (clouds, etc) really shines in the Note 9. The Sony was completely washed out.

I've found the amoled screens on the latest Samsung flagships very yellow compared to previous models. This is when I check them out at the stores, and I do change settings to my liking but still is very yellow compared to IPS screens.Got my n9 512gb
Do any of you find the screen a bit yellow ?
Compared to my s8+
I have to use adaptive mode to turn the yellow down.
I'm finding to be a little more blue/cooler than my Note 8, which I'm still using.I've found the amoled screens on the latest Samsung flagships very yellow compared to previous models. I saw a comparison where the pixel 2's night time shots came out much better than the Note 9's. I believe it was from Phone arena.
Is the Pixel 2 camera still overall better than the Note? Any users with both devices?
Yup, I was able to get mine for $299 back in December. I figure at that price, even though now it's on the bench behind the S9 and Note 9, it's worth it as a backup phone and I get to test out the latest version of stock android.I'm having a hard time returning my Essential phone haha. Got it for $300 on Amazon a couple weeks back. I'm not a person who typically keeps more than one phone, but it's so good. I've got until Sept 9th to send it back.

Spent the whole long weekend with Pixel 2 XL and the Note 9, shooting side by side.
The Note 9 is an amazing phone in practically every respect. But the camera? I was actually rather disappointed. It's one thing to see these YouTube reviews, but another once you get it in your own hands, that's when you know.
Don't get me wrong, it's perfectly good, Top 10 smartphone camera for sure. But it's not as quick as it should be, it's a bit too faffy, it misses a LOT of shots (fair enough, it pops up and tells you "This may be blurry" or "Some idiot blinked" etc). But it's nowhere near as fluid as it used to be (my S7 Edge was so quick with the camera and this feels bloated).
There are loads of options but 99% of people will use Auto Mode 99% of the time.
Then, you have the Pixel. And even if the hardware isn't as fancy, even if the Pixel 2 can be frustrating.... The camera is IN REAL LIFE so much better than the Note 9. To pull it out and shoot, and almost always get a great result... That's really important as otherwise the Note 9 would just constantly miss family photos, and I'm not here for that.
Interestingly, I just gave the Note 9 back to Carphone Warehouse and the guy there asked why I was returning it. I said it was only because of the camera. He said that LOADS of people have returned the S9 and Note 9 for exactly the same reason, which really surprised me in a way.
Again, the Note 9 is a beast of a phone. Beautiful screen, great battery, S Pen is awesome, it was fast and handled 30 apps open with no real problems (for now).
But computational photography aligned with the Pixel Visual Core will mean Google should continue to sprint ahead of everyone. Samsung can chuck a third camera on the S10 a la Huawei, but it won't make enough of a difference.
Crazy. The amount of improvenent in flagship phones over 6 months is miniscule.I might go the other route. After using the 512 for a few days, I can't imagine the premium is worth it. I may "degrade" to the 128. I know I'll only have the phone until the S10 comes out, so why in the world should I worry about future proofing it?
But isn't the S10 supposed to be a big change for the Galaxy line? An underscreen fps & triple camera are highly expected.Crazy. The amount of improvenent in flagship phones over 6 months is miniscule.
Im having the same issue. some shots come out really nice while others blurry and out of focus.I've actually had a weird camera issue that I've seen discussed on Reddit with people also experiencing it. Some of my shots are coming out blurry. Like the slightest bit of movement causes some blurriness. Not sure if it's software or what, but either way it's noticeable.

Weird cause over in the AC forums people are getting amazing shots.

So why not skip the N9 and wait for it? Only a matter of 20-24 weeks away. But isn't the S10 supposed to be a big change for the Galaxy line? An underscreen fps & triple camera are highly expected.

Out of curiosity, which one had you ordered that is so far behind?I was getting amazing shots on my S9+ last night in Pro mode that I simply haven't seen possible on my Pixel 2 nor my husband's Huawei P20 Pro or iPhone X. I was taking photo and video of the full moon and fireworks over a lake. In auto mode it lets too much light in making everything look like daylight. But in Pro mode I simply tinkered with exposure and it was going great.
However, stuff I am reading about light bleed on a lot of Note 9's and this blur stuff and some animation lag has me very close to canceling my preorder and waiting for it to all get sorted. I dealt with crap like that on my S8+ I don't want to go through the trade in and worrying about a possible lemon all over again like I did with the S8+ That phone annoyed me so much after awhile and almost put me off Samsung entirely.
My S9+ has been almost perfect. I do want the Note 9, but maybe later. I don't want to get stuck with early production run flaws like the S8+ pink stain.
I don't know. I may just be thinking squirrely. I am on vacation with two severely disabled elders, one of whom just got sick. I get a few hours here and there of respite. I am mentally and physically exhausted and just don't want to deal with anything else.
I want my Note 9 to "just work" when it does finally get to me. No light bleed, no fuzzy blurs, no animation lags. My phone doesn't ship until the end of September so I won't kill the order just yet but some of the anecdotes have me a bit twitchy, I admit. It's a shame because it is my dream machine.
[doublepost=1535483129][/doublepost]Screw it all. Order cancelled. I'll wait in peace.
Blue AT&T 512 GB.Out of curiosity, which one had you ordered that is so far behind?
Blue AT&T 512 GB.
My husband preordered the same model and color on the last day of preorders and his was supposed to be shipped one week after mine.
But they put his on hold saying they can do only one trade in of an old device per household at a time. So it’s not really clear when they would have shipped his.
So far there’s no confirmation my cancellation has been processed yet. Nor has the hold on my husband’s preorder been removed. I hope he gets a good one when his order gets processed. Most people seem to be having no issues.
As a long time loyal iPhone owner I can't get over how much I enjoy this phone. I'm all in on the Apple ecosystem and I've restr this phone and put it back in the box twice already for return only to take it back out to use more. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is but this is the first Android device I don't want to quit.
