I'm about to sell my Note 9. First Samsung phone ever (probably S9/+ as well, but didn't even try that one) that has really good software experience. I was always in love with S Pen and the features S Pen brings, and the screen is great. I'm one of those guys who uses S Pen all the time, even for simple things like web browsing.

But what annoys me almost every day is the Edge display. There is probably some deeply disturbed individual who thought that curved display + pen work great in tandem :D

If Samsung ever offers Note device, but with a flat screen, I will purchase one in a heart beat. But as it is now, edge display just gets in my way too often to ignore it. I will return to my previous phone (not iPhone), and use that one for now :)

Everything else on Note 9 is great, except battery standby time. But since battery would last me without any problems the whole day, that one doesn't bother me at all. If anyone is still considering Note 9 and doesn't mind edge display, go for it. Note 9 is an excellent device, and with some features no other phone offers at all.

Yup, with the rumor of Samsung offering a flat screen S10 model, I'm hoping it's true and that they do one for the Note. If you get rid of the top and bottom bezels of the Note 9 (making it shorter) and flatten the display, it would be almost the perfect phone.

I am regretting my Note 9. A month after I bought it, I realize that the battery is worse than my iPhone X and worse than the XS Max I returned. I can't get more than 5 hour SOT and usually worse than that if I go to Manhattan at 50% battery. My iPhone X does better by a big margin. I returned the first Note 9 to see if I would get a better battery life and I can't. The curved screen is annoying as well. I have put so many apps in the always sleep mode, did a factory reset, and still Android OS and Android system eat as much battery as the Screen on time. I don't understand.

I don't know why I bought another phone when I could have used the X for two more years. Stupidity on my part.

I'm considering returning mine. I bought it black Friday and I see the lag setting in. It takes a few seconds to unlock when I use the fingerprint scanner. Even if I just hit the power button to turn on the screen it's a couple seconds before the screen turns on. The email app keeps crashing and the stock keyboard starts to lag as I get deeper in a longer message (same happens on GBoard). I normally download Nova, but I've settled with Samsung Experience on this one, using mostly stock apps except for Textra. I've cleared cache, restarted, set up as a new phone and nothing has changed it. I didn't buy a $1000 device to have to babysit it, so I may go to an iPhone 8+ and be done with it. I originally ordered the iPhone X, but cancelled it because I have 3 coworkers who love their Notes and recommended that. Unfortunately, mine hasn't worked out real well. I still have until January 15 so I'll see if an update fixes it before I make a decision.

I’m sorry to hear that. I just had to clear out my S8+ to prepare to send it off for a trade in discount on a different item. It was so laggy. But it always was almost from the beginning, as was my husband’s. So was my S7 edge when I traded that one. But it took a year to become that bad.

My S9+ is still working well so I had expected the Note 9 to remain a beast to the end.

Yeah, I made the switch as well from the Note 9. I had too many issues with it. Lag, camera freezing, battery life not as good as it should be, and so on. I now have the XS Max, and enjoy it with no issues so far. Samsung has a lot of work to do it seems as they still have lag on their devices. May not be as bad as some of the older ones, but its still there.

Obvious bad set-up here. The Note 9 flies and has zero lag. 8 or 9 hours of SOT is easily the norm.
Did you set up the phone as new with no backups?

I've had the Note9 for more than 2 months now.

The handset is fully loaded with all my apps and data.. probably more so than the iPhone I had and I have yet to see any slowdown!?

My Note9 is still as smooth as day 1 and I am a really picky person when it comes to performance.

Don’t have the note 9 but my husband has the note 8 and I’ve had the S7 edge and S9+. There was zero lag on any of those phones. I use my husband’s note 8 from time to time and it’s never lagged. It feels fluid and fast.

Set up as new. My battery life is fine, The highest SOT I've seen was 6.5 hours. Not because the battery died, but because that's where it was when I went to bed, and I still had juice left. Typically I'll never have my screen on that much anyway because I'm usually sitting at my desk 9 hrs a day. I did a ton of traveling last week so it was Netflix galore while sitting in airports. My battery is not my issue, it's all the little bugs added up. If the next update fixes these problems, I have no problem keeping the phone. If it doesn't fix them, I'll move on.

I kinda don't believe you on the s7 edge. So many on Android Central complained about how bad the lag was and mine was almost unusable at the 2 year mark. The last O/S Update (forget what it was off hand), made it terrible with lag, and unresponsive, even after a clean reset.

I didn’t have mine for 2 years. I had it for about 5 months.

Maybe it was part of the Samsung battery slow down thing they also got in trouble for. My battery was around 75% battery health left, and it wouldn't hardly make it through the day any more. So maybe because of that, Samsung slowed down the performance like Apple did which caused it to lag. Hmm. Either way, it was a big issue with the s7 edge and lag at the end of it's life.

I didn't have any lags, Note 9 was a smooth and nice experience.
But battery life isn't as great as some of you get. Linus made a nice video about battery on Samsung devices, with his usage, battery would drain on standby time easily.

I had the same problem. I would get up at 6AM, unplug the phone, and barely use it untill 11AM. Battery would be at 80-85%. I would use the device heavily for the rest of the day, and by 10PM battery would be around 20%.

Never had to recharge it, Note 9 would last me the whole day, so not a big issue.
But for example, same apps, same kind of usage, and my OP6 would be at 50% by the end of the day.

I have automatic brightness on, bluetooth/wifi/4g always on.

For the 2 months I've had my note 9 and it's been flawless. Gets through a full day no problem. I just really don't use most of the features that the note 9 offers. Found someone who would like to trade his iPhone xs max 256gb for my 128 GB note 9 plus 100$ (I think that's fair if you go by what private value is and I paid 600$ for my note 9) . The only thing i will probably miss is the dual app/messenger setup with Facebook and YouTube Vanced (I love this modified YouTube app)

Why are the S9 and S9+ models getting One UI and Pie in January 2019 whilst the later released Note9 is due to receive the same upgrades in February 2019!?

Hmm.
