Didn't know you could force all apps to use dark mode on developer options.. Nice
Doesn't look too bad, granted it just helps my dark mode ocdDo things like Facebook Messenger look funky though? I remember when I tried this on the Pixel way back in the day, it looked horrible and I just put everything back to normal, lol.
Talking of free things
Samsung just confirmed today I get a free 50" TV with my Note 20U LOL
That's on top of my Bundled Buds Live, wireless charger stand and UV sterilizer
I also got a free soundbar with my G9 monitor
Sold both of them (TV and Soundbar) to a friend for $750 so that's a great discount of my Fold V2
It’s sounding like it’s really not worth it this year.

I made a similar move last year. I had an iPhone since 2007, but purchased a Note 10+ last year and traded it in on a Note 20 Ultra this year. It was strange at first, I have really come to enjoy the notes and am hooked on Spen.I’m very torn, lol, the rumours point towards a very dull update where only the new design will be the selling point. At the same time I played with the Ultra yesterday and it is just amazing. Previously I thought to myself that if the new iPhones are not very inspiring, I’ll just get the 11 Pro Max to replace my X, but having compared the former to the Ultra, I just cannot justify spending the same money for a clearly inferior phone (where I live the Ultra can be had for around the iPhone price).
I will wait until the new iPhones are out, but have been already googling what are the best ways to move from iOS to Android after almost 7 years with an iPhone, this certainly will be a change
This is basically the iPhone update every year, sans the iPhone X transition year. It's really the smartphone industry as a whole in recent years, but I feel like this has always been an iPhone thing. BUT they know how to market the absolute hell out of their products so it works.I’m very torn, lol, the rumours point towards a very dull update where only the new design will be the selling point.

The transfer of info from iPhone to Note went smoother and better than I expected really using Samsung Smart Switch. I think the thing I had the biggest problem with was text messaging, because you have to disable iMessage from everything, not just your old iPhone and that wasn't immediately clear. Having a iMac, MBP and iPad, I had to make sure I disabled it everywhere. Maybe even the Apple Watch? I can't recall on that.Certainly good to know it is not that dramatic of a transition. How was the experience with moving all data from one system to another? I will definitely follow up around November to ask about the impressions after couple months of use
In the pre-iPhone era I used to be a Samsung user, actually, but the only android I have ever owned was the Galaxy S3 which turned out to be a disastrous smartphone (which is why I sweared I would never get another anrdroid/samsung again). However, I believe these were a bit different times and judging by the experience of my friends with the last Galaxies, things have changed.
True. I think this definitely contributes to the feeling I have now that even if the design changes, with the 12 series I will be getting essentialy the same phone, just a little bit better. Perhaps the jump straight from the X would make this difference bigger, but still not as much as changing the ecosystem altogether. In the times of $1000+ smartphones I think it is natural to want to get at least the feeling that it was wort it

There were a couple of Apps that weren't available for Android like Scenic and Weber Grill Timer App I actually really liked and had to find equivalents for. A year later it's still the Weber App I miss most. Sad I know hahaha.
For the first week or so I kept feeling like I made a mistake and if my wife (who also switched) didn't like hers so much I probably would have returned it. But the more I used it the more I enjoyed it. I particularly found myself using the Spen far more than I thought I would, to the point that I don't kbow if I would consider a phone without one again. So when the Note 20 Ultra came out, I wasn't at all hesitant to trade in my Note 10+ on one.
Even some great camera upgrades isn't a massive deal for me as it will still likely have 2x or 3x zoom. For the 12 Pro Max this year, design and 5G are nice, but I need at least one other big new feature to get me to upgrade. Whether it be pro-motion or some kind of big camera upgrades. But I need one more big thing.
Thanks a lot, this is very useful - I also have the entire Apple ecosystem. I think the jump itself will not be that much of an issue, I just keep on thinking about all the little things like the fact that I will not have my ebooks purchased from Apple on the Ultra or if I can copy the music bought from iTunes to the new phone (stupid concern, I know), or the fact that I will have to switch to Chrome on the iPad and MBP to retain the same level of smoothness which I have now (I really do like Safari)... Anyways, these are small, managable things.

But the good thing is you can set your browser of choice to be the default browser where with the iPhone the default is always Safari, whether you like it or not.
It's not that difficult to switch from iPhone to Android. I have done it before. Some people make it seem like it's so difficult which is why they don't switch. There are plenty of YouTube videos that will show you how.
I have a lot of Apple products too, but I don't want to be stuck so I don't use iBooks. I have a kindle to read books. And I don't use AppleMusic. I use Spotify. I try to use services that are available on multiple platforms so I'm not stuck in one.
If I were to switch it really wouldn't be too difficult. I may lose a couple apps and have to find replacements. But it's not as difficult as some people make it out to be.
First, Apple Music is cross platform--available on Windows, Android...hell, even Amazon Echo devices. Spotify is probably the better overall service but just clarifying...
Also, degree of difficulty in switching really depends on the individual and their circumstances. For me, it would be a pain in the ass and I know, because I've tried a number of times. I use a Mac, an iPad Pro, an iPhone and an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is irreplaceable for me...no other smart watch comes close to being able to replicate how I use it. I've said it in plenty of previous posts--the Apple Watch on its own keeps me using an iPhone, even if it's not as full featured as a competitor, because the iPhone/Apple Watch combo beats any Android/alternate smart watch by a wide margin.
The other huge difficulty in switching is my family prefers and lives deeply inside the Apple Ecosystem. Ditching the iPhone means losing the ability to AirDrop with them, easily tracking their locations, managing Screen time, app approvals and all the benefits of using Apple Messages together.
This is how Apple keep people in Apple - little hooks. This sounds like me exactly! I look at other devices and think yea I’d like to give that a try, but in reality I’m heavy inside the Apple ecosystem (iPad Pro, iPhone, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple TV, Mac even HomePod).
I love using the Apple Watch also, it works really well for me and my fitness (I do a lot of running). I’ve seen the Samsung one but I just don’t like the round face.
Also I have a big iTunes collection of TV and movies. Moving that all over would be a nightmare (thats if it’s even possible).
Saying that I do look at the Note 20 Ultra and think “I’d like that on my iPhone” the screen looks amazing, the design looks more modern than my 11 Pro Max and the s pen would be a dream. But alas I’m deep inside the Apple ecosystem.

Did you keep your iPhone?Even some great camera upgrades isn't a massive deal for me as it will still likely have 2x or 3x zoom.
Pro motion is needed really. Even with these though not convinced I would go back which is something I didn't expect to say...
Will see though. Now I've got the note I think I would miss too many things.
No sold it and sold my apple watch. Got about £950 in totalDid you keep your iPhone?
