Another Update
It's been another week with the N20 Ultra. I'm not going to lie, I've contemplated maybe justifying buying a Mac again and some remorse for selling my XR, but I think this is just natural when you make such a big change and get a bit fed up with the effort it takes psychologically to make it the new norm. However, this device has been doling great and slowly but surely I'm getting ever more fluent with it.
I discovered my portable battery for charging devices just about can output enough to keep the note alive, and doing anything when it dies and comes back on such as playing 8 Ball Pool is enough to kill my phone (in the middle of my daily Lucky Shot too, damn!). So I'm going to look into a newer more powerful output one in the new year. Anker maybe? Similarly, the included charger during DeX can just about keep the charge level, maybe charge it very slowly when doing intense things, such as the below...
I've enjoyed getting used to Minecraft with the keyboard and mouse - it's not quite the same as W10 Edition on a PC or Java Minecraft on a Mac or PC control wise, but it's playable and I've set out to build a plantation on a new world, which will be entirely done on the Note (a god damn phone!!!) so I'm excited for that as a way to kill the hours in an on/off lockdown, wintery dark world outside of working. I have YouTube Vanced (THANK YOU FOR THE RECOMMENDATION! - Now I don't need to renew Spotify!) , a Gallery window if I'm building something on Minecraft and want to glance at it, a WhatsApp Window all showing at once. And the lag or stutter is no worse than it generally is on DeX even when all these windows including Minecraft are running. DeX isn't perfect, but it's actively changing my lifestyle tech wise.
I'm finding the odd use for the S-Pen, it's really handy to have and have it charged up all the time. I've joined that Samsung Members app, sort of a forum that reminds me of the genuine Apple forums in how locked down and controlled it is, but some helpful high ranking members on there pointing out features to me etc.
Looking forward to Android 11 and the new OneUI update ... god, I remember back in 2009 picking up a phone like the HTC (can't even remember the name) with a chin and a scroll ball and 'HTC Sense' UI and it was such trash. It looked cool in the marketing, but trying to use it was like trying to use one of those prop laptops at IKEA. Things have come a long way. What I'm really digging about Samsung, is what I always laughed at as an iPhone fanboy all these years. It's their desire to pretty much be Apple. As such, they're packing in a TONNE of features and as much power as they can (okay, so nobody can match the actual raw processing power...yet) but they're innovating and not afraid to invest in niche things like the S-Pen (think like the MagSafe in the Mac back in the day, niche, but useful and made it unique / quirky to enough people). They strive to improve the user experience with their One UI and it's debatably great at it I'd say. They try to have an ecosystem of things like those Buds and the wearable stuff, not sure how they compare to Apple's stuff, but the fact I can have things all the same brand that play nicely together, whilst not putting up a wall from third party manufacturers at the same time is nice, freeing and new to me.
I'll keep updating you all as time goes on so long as people find it interesting.
