If they want to combine the S and Note lines, then they should just make the Ultra a “Note”. Keeps everyone happy.
I think they are doing it differently as I imagine it allows the S line to keep bigger batteries as I imagine spacing with the S pen plays a factor in battery size being smaller on the note line...just a guess though and the fact they are pushing foldables as their best flagship

If the S21 was to look like the Note 20 Ultra with a curved display and have all the Note features (such as smart select, air gestures and so on) that would be good. If that were to happen it would make it a Note but in the body of an S model. If I can get an S pen with the series S and have somewhere to store it, again that would be great.

It would be even better if they were to increase the battery and give us in the U.K and Europe a better chip (than the Exynos). Do that at a lower price than the Note series, I would seriously be interested.

rumours are Samsung will release cases for a place for the S pen...will see though

Chip wise exynos will be much improved for S21

That would be interesting, if they can add the S-Pen, a place to keep it, better battery life and a great design (like the Note 20 Ultra) then i‘m interested.

It‘s weird because I’m actually missing the Note 20 Ultra, my iPhone 11 Pro Max has much better battery life, but it’s just boring. The Ultra had a much better screen and the S-Pen that I really liked.

For me, it would be all about how the cases house the S-Pen. If it's something that sticks out and makes the phone hard to hold, then that's not a good solution, imo.

Im fine with them cutting the Note line. Their offerings are overlapping too much and its getting crowded. They are cannibalizing their own lines sales. Plus there has to be a lot of wasted manufacturing, engineering, and support costs for this many devices. Combining the two models and having the S-line be the traditional phone with different sizes and one being more premium (the Ultra) is a good move. Do the same with the Fold lines (offer a budget Fold) and they will have a more manageable lineup that still covers a lot of price points and options.

However, I agree that they should just build the S-pen into the S Ultra model like they did the Note. The S Ultra should be their premium, all-in-one, candybar design phone.

I use to find Note line had better memory management, newer revision chips and 8xx, the system had a later version that never arrived on the S model (7.1 vs 7.0x) Saw Note as the 2.0 for that year.

I'm fine with an outside pen using a case holder and magnet. Surface and Samsung tablet experience.

Literally all I’m hoping for is that they improve the battery life on the next Note Exynos (if indeed there is another Note).

Gotta admit, it was in my head for a while about the Exynos 990 and all the reviewers mentioning it, however, it's NOTHING you can't live with. I get that they're saying we should be charged less for it, which I definitely wouldn't be complaining about, but in my opinion, the 256GB is actually preferrable to have onboard. Especially as I use my work phone sim in it now in the space of the microSD.

It's able to play Fortnite and Minecraft smoothly, BUT it's glitchy until the thing 'gets going'. Then, it gets pretty hot, but again not unbearable. I think given the performance and featureset of something like the Note, which quite literally does everything I've heard of a phone doing except folding, I can live with that.

My iPhone XR has been sold today. Got £340 cash. Sad as I paid £800 August 2019 for it new. But now it's two generations out of date and used, so fair is fair. I'll miss the beautiful rich yellow!

It wasn’t the features, I turned off 120hz display and a lot of other features, the battery was still poor. I make a lot of calls in a day, it just seemed to drain the battery a lot more than my 11 Pro Max unfortunately.
I turned them off at the start, I actually didn't want to get used to the nice 120hz and then have my work PC and every other display feel like sandpaper to my eyes. But now I've turned it back on, it's not so bad. Makes the phone feel like a million dollars to use I must admit. Minecraft is the only app where I notice the 120hz really really feeling responsive beyond swiping through apps and scrolling. Samsung and Quallcomm may never catch up with Apple's efficiency OR performance. What amazes me about Apple's chips is not just the performance but how well it translates into great battery life, credit where credit is due.

my note ultra was poor as well anytime to need turn off features and you are always looking at the battery dropping it's not worth keeping. feature wise it's great but not worth it if you are paranoid at the battery life certainly when you are spending over 1k. any phone at that price point needs to last 7am til bed.
I find when I'm using the Note flat out, which I am these days at home, it's dropping quick but it's never come close to letting me down yet. Sure enough, when working etc it's not dropping on idle - to me that'd be an issue. It's able to manage things in the background and go into sleep mode when in my pocket / not being used and hold charge fine so far. Important to say though, I'm in a 4G area only.

I don't have any features turned off my N20U and it gets great battery life.
Same here. It's good but it's well behind my iPhone XR. However, it's not a dealbreaker in my case. Using full features but not in a 5G area. I feel like some people here maybe are on 5G which is sure to drain it way faster?

Yeah mine doesn't get the same battery life as my iPhones do. They could go almost 1.5 days without a charge. But then I charge my phones every night anyway. I have 5G turned on and have seen some decent speeds but nothing astronomical

I love my notes and think they should only focus on the note and or foldables. Not really looking forward to the s21 but ill still read about it.

I think it is a mistake this early, but makes sense in the long run to have just Galaxy S line and Fold lines once S Pen works on Fold. I love the Fold, but still think probably 2-3 years until ready for the masses.

Well I intend keeping my Note 20 Ultra for a couple of years even though it has the Exynos 990, but only as long as the performance stays on par, battery life on the other hand will be my main concern more so after a year or so, as the battery degrades as it isn't great as is.

I personally don't think the future lies in folding phones, there will be a market for them no doubt & will get cheaper as the years pass & move into the Mid Range Market.

But the ultimate innovation will come with scrolling or rolling screen phones, as they can keep the slim candy bar style, have no crease in the screen & as glass technology advances they figure out a way to make glass roll without shattering, which is probably easier to achieve than making glass fold.

After the burning notes Samsung batteries come with extended battery longevity I would check out the release notes but I think it's well over 2 years

I'm hoping the above is true.. Today I was making a new calendar entry on my Note, and as usual unchecked the 'Alert 10 minutes before', when it popped up saying 'We noticed you've done this for quite a lot of your entries in a row, would you like to make this default behaviour?' to which I checked yes.

If it keeps doing things like that, I'm going to continue to be delighed by how AI is making life easier. I listened to an Android Central episode with a Quallcomm engineer yesterday (I know I've got Exynos) but he was discussing things like this and how it's making a difference daily. - I was one of those people who heard about AI / ML / AR from Apple and thought 'what use do I have for that', well this is it :D
