I don't think Apple has marketed the XR as a budget device. I think people believe it is a budget device, which with the trade-offs (lower screen quality, no 3D Touch, etc), fair enough. Apple wants people to believe (and has marketed) it as a premium device at a lower-cost. They're trying to convince the public, and maybe even themselves, that this product belongs in the premium tier. It's a great product, but the S10e is a premium low-priced product, not the XR. The XR belongs in the middle tier because of its key sacrifices, but it's at the top-end of pricing in that tier. That in itself, when it comes to comparing specs-for-specs against its lower-priced competition, might make the marketing of it even worse. I say that as a person who firmly believes the XR is the best value in any iPhone ever for my own personal use-case. But the marketing has been not good.

It's the same old thing we always talk about. Diminishing returns are a thing with Apple products. I absolutely feel like my S10+ is worth the $1k price tag for a multitude of reasons, but the XS is absolutely not worth the same price in a direct comparison.

I've gotten my Xr by trading in a fairly new iphone 8Plus I had, so I didn't pay full price for it. Lol, so I sometimes forget the eye watering original price Apple asks for it. Yeah they weren't trying to pass it off as budget at the time. They had older models for that, like the SE.

I enjoy the bold colors and appreciate the LCD option, given that I can't use their implementation of OLED. But I did have a period of adjustment to the lower ppi, coming from the 8Plus display. That is one of those strange corners Apple cut that made me nervous when I heard they were updating the iPad mini with "affordability" in mind.

I mean, would I like it? Sure. Do I need it already having the S10 +? Absolutely not.

I'm in Seoul right now where the 5G has just been released. Just wondering if people thought there would be an appetite to purchase these if I were to bring a couple back to the UK when I return on Monday?

Telstra in Australia has an offer where they will upgrade you for free from an S10+ to an S10 5G if you want, while keeping you on the same plan and same prices. Telstra only offers the 128 GB and 512 GB models of the S10+, not the 1 TB model, so depending on which one you get, you would either double or half your storage. The S10 5G comes with 256 GB zig storage, and no SD expansion slot.

If it was me and I wanted a large phone, I’m not sure I’d want one of these. Sure 5G is awesome, and sure I love cameras, but I’d rather have less storage and an SD card slot than having more storage and no slot. I’ve been bitten by the iPhone’s lack of expandability way too many times (even on my 256 GB iPhone 7 and iPhone X).

Interesting article on Android Central about 5G likely not making it out to rural areas or even outlying semi rural suburbs (my situation) for several years.

I guess it's a good thing I didn't miss the great trade in deal and snub the S10+ for this 5G model.

Reading the comments to the article was even more interesting regarding small town America's paranoia against technology. However, that is not limited to small towns. I lived for a few years in a small ultra liberal hippy city kind of like an updated version of a liberal 60's California town. I was surrounded by anti-everythingers. You would be shunned if you mowed your lawn with anything but one of those old fashioned mechanical manual push mowers.

They use cell phones, but I'm pretty sure if Verizon were to try to put up 5G towers there, some of the people would vandalize them.

Samsung has never let Note fans down. It obviously won’t be like it used to be, when the Note had very little in common with the galaxy S that year. The Note 7 was probably the last time the Note was a massive upgrade over the Galaxy s.

Yeah don’t think note 10 will be massive upgrade but enough i would say for me to get it. S pen for me would be very useful in my line of work and a bigger screen can’t complain and rumoured better camera too compared to the S10’s which wasn’t the case last year so it might be a bigger upgrade than last year at least.

Camera? Unless you are planning to print a huge poster you don't really need a camera better than s7e, s8, s9 and s10's. You can't go wrong with today's flagship phones with the camera.

As for the size what's wrong with s10+ 5g 6.7 screen? Its massive enough for todays flagships.

So the only valid reason you have is the s pen.

Personally I'll take any .1" of extra screen size I can get, not sure the Note will be any bigger though. Anyhow the S Pen is also worth waiting for imo, and though I'm hardly a camera buff myself there are plenty of people who will hold out for the best they can get.

Biggest reason people will buy the Note 10 over this one though is simply that it'll get a much wider release and a ton of marketing. Here in Sweden most people probably don't know the 5G exists, and even if they did its not even for sale here.

For me it would mainly be for the S pen. I won't be buying the S line and note line every year.

I got the S10 plus this year to get used to samsung again coming from the iPhone so this is the last year I will get two Samsung phones in the same year

I'm sure there will be some new S pen features on top of that

The S Pen can be handy, but people who seriously need to take notes down on the fly usually need something larger than a phone. Even a big 6.7” Note is too small to make a bunch of in depth notes.

Note 10 will have same CPU as s10. Samsung might throw few extra rams and better battery that's it.
I thought you are in States Oohara oh good to have someone from that part of the world :)
