Text, WhatsApp, messenger etc will all be fine as these are sent as ‘priority’. There is a way to disable doze mode via dab. Some say it actually improves battery but in theory should make it worse. If you use an email app such as outlook, make sure to disable battery optimisation for that app. Strangely gmail is one of the apps that gets delayed.
Via dab? I've gone into optimise battery usage and made sure all are off. What else do they say you can do?

Well, I finally got some communication from Samsung after sending them an email. My initial thought yesterday was that I was so mad at them that I was going to cancel my order and just keep my Pixel. I may still end up doing that but I want to at least try the S10+. Mine was supposed to ship on the 8th and this is what I got back from them.

Due to higher than expected demand, your order is currently delayed. We understand that you are eager to experience the newly introduced addition to the Galaxy series, which is why Samsung is working diligently with our shipping partner to get your device out to you right away. We expect your order to ship by March 11, 2019.

Once your device ships, you will get a shipment confirmation email with the tracking information as soon as our shipping partner receives the package. You can also manage your order using the button below. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Everyone at Samsung hopes you enjoy your new Galaxy device. It's why we work hard, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and loyalty. Thank you for shopping Samsung.com.

So how is everyone finding the ultrasonic FPS after a few days of use? There was a fair amount of criticism torwards it initially and im interested to see if things have improved. Personally I'm still finding it to work near flawlessly.

Many Youtubers think it's a bit slower thank expected otherwise the phone is beyond

Flawless isn't a word I would use yet. But it is much much improved from early set up and use.
I'm rarely getting errors on my right thumb now as it's pretty much the only digit I use to unlock even though others are also registered.

If I had to choose between it and Face ID, I prefer the latter, but I'm still in astonishment that an in display FPS is happening. It's so impressive.

Look if I don't hit the sweet spot it won't always unlock but honestly if I hit it in the correct spot it unlocks 100% of the time. I think that's the biggest issue with this technology, if they can make the area that you need to hit twice as large it would virtually eliminate peoples issues. Will be interesting to see if they do it in the next generation.

Thats the phone part. Now you need to setup adb on your pc and follow the other link I posted to send the adb comand 'adb shell dumpsys deviceidle disable'

Instead of doing this, will putting the app into "unmonitored app" in Device Maintenance do the same

Is there a (free/quick) way to transfer my WhatsApp messages from my XS Max to my S10+ please?
So I’m not 100% sure on this, but you can swipe left on the chat on the iPhone and choose “more” and then “export chat”. That produces an individual zip file which you *may* be able to import into the android version (if there is even a way to do that)?

Edit: this doesn’t work either... the only way seems to be with a 3rd party tool that will cost you around $25.

I think it's changed in Android Pie. You have to go into the applications info and turn off battery optimisation. Also turn off adaptive battery in Device care to stop android pie from turning optimisation back on.

unfortunately no, not for all apps. It depends on how the developer has coded the app to receive notifications while in doze. Google actually do not think its an issue that users have to wait for notifications. The technical parts of this are described here.

https://developer.android.com/training/monitoring-device-state/doze-standby

I wouldn't worry to much about this, unless you have an app that you must have notifications immediately. My example is the Hikvision camera app. Setting all battery optimisations etc to off still do not allow immediate notifications unless I use the adb command to kill the doze service.

There are a lot of discussions on the web about this (key search words - android doze, android delayed notifications etc)
