Battery life seems pretty good so far, I have 4.30 hrs screen time and at 34%. I'm going to kill it tonight and I'll report the final numbers.

Kinda nuts though that i just realized that this "small budget" model has a 5.8" screen and 3,100 mah battery, compared to my Note 5 from back in the day with a 5.7" screen and 3,000 mah battery.

Just picked up the S10 (regular model)....incredible device

love the punch out camera, nice screen size increase from the S9 too

I just love how complete this phone is. Figuring out how to make the in screen finger print scanner work properly was a pain but once I figured out how to properly set it up, man its awesome.

S10....gets a 10/10 from me.

I also did, got 512 Black Ceramic Plus model on Wednesday.

In other news, finally got the update today for fingerprint sensor, etc. seems better, but I’m going to redo my fingerprints and see how it acts the next few days.
Follow the enrollment guide/video posted earlier on where it shows you to just tap the same part of your finger each time on the 1st stage and do not be tempted to roll or shift position, which is implied in the graphic, it's the 2nd stage that you register edges of your finger

It makes a big difference along with the update :)

I think it was the enrollment graphic that is misleading and led many to remove their factory screen protector unnecessarily

With the correct enrollment and the update the FPS is very good

Is it correct that if you download the google camera you can get night mode on a Samsung phone? I was reading this on android central.

The dark mode is really nice. I always thought dark mode was a pointless feature but I really like it on my husband’s note 8. I’ve been fiddling about with my husband’s phone so much lol I’ve left the guestures turned on and he hasn’t complained so I think they must be pretty simple to use for anyone.

I wouldn’t remove the factory screen protector unless it got damaged. I commend Samsung for including a screen protector in the box.

I have the exynos and it does do better in single core scores but the adreno GPU in the snapdragon is superior for sure. They both do great really.
I think a few years ago the exynos version was better across the board but now the snapdragon is equally as good. They both have their strengths but overall are as good as each other.

I use the Samsung one as it has the dark mode theme.
Didn’t Samsung show off getting your messages across devices at the unpacked? I need to watch it again. Was it only in Samsung tablets or did it work with PC’s too?

I use WhatsApp which works cross platform anyway.

The snapdragon also does better in multicore so it all equals out imo. I also use whatsapp I just wish it would get dark theme support.

You sound like my wife, elderly dog, elderly parents and we have a 16 year old daughter thrown in to haha. Her mother 92 is going into a nursing home on Wednesday, her Dad 88 can't cope looking after her anymore, (dementia) she is down to 35kg and not eating.
After over 60 years together not going to be fun :(

Sorry for going OT.
I’m so sorry to hear that. I feel your pain. My mom is in the early stages of dementia. So is my wonderful aunt (wife of my dad’s brother). I found all this out Thanksgiving. It was a shock. I took it hard. Who wouldn’t.

My mother-in-law recently passed. We joke that she died and took my washing machine with her. And we do joke because she would have wanted us to. Great woman. Great life and beautiful dignified passing.

And yeah, teenagers. It’s all rough on them, too, which in turn gets rough for us.

All this going on is why smartphones are my hobby. Ain’t got time for anything else! Nor energy. When I first joined this forum all excited over the iPhone 6 Plus, I was still working at gardening and landscaping. I was smack dab in the AT&T iPhone 6 preorder forum when I got word my dad had cancer. Fortunately he prevailed, but that was the start of it all with the zooming around frenetic life of elder care.

Obsessing over phones keeps me pretty laid back and even keeled. :D Despite what it may look like, I don’t need to buy all of them. Reading about them is much of the fun. There’s lots of other phones I like, but I just will stick with Samsung and Google for now.

I just can’t figure out what to do about Apple. I don’t know if I want to stick with Apple if they can’t get their 5G modem source problems sorted out.

I’m really happy Google and Samsung have nice Qualcomm modems, but I admit I’m a bit surprised to see some comments here that connectivity is a bit wonky.

My husband is busy trying to program Bixby. He’s determined to make Bixby useful. :p He’s very pleased with all the deep system level stuff he can program routines for. :)

I’m still torn over whether or not I want the big Samsung or the little one. S10+ is very plus indeed. Much big. Very screen!
[doublepost=1552205945][/doublepost]
I seem to be seeing Flamingo's everywhere at the moment!

@GrumpyMom - a nice wallpaper if you keep your S10+!

:eek:Oh that is beautiful! Thank you!

Who here uses the Google Messaging app over the Samsung stock app? I was thinking about using the Google one to get the messaging from a laptop functionality to replace my iMessage feature on my MBP.
I am going to when I get my phone. And I love Samsung mail but will probably stick with Aquamail, Pro version since that’s what I use on my Pixel. I’d like to keep some consistency of my Android experience across devices.

I’m seeing people who are considering the s10 be dissuaded from buying it because others “speak from experience” when they say the s7 wasn’t very good and the battery wasn’t good. Hardly a fair comparison...

Never had the S7. Well I did borrow one for a day but I had the S7 edge and that had good battery life. Battery life on my iPhone X was crap. I agree because you had a bad experience with a phone years ago doesn’t mean that things don’t change.

Seems the Google Cam port over is a bit mixed at the moment and mainly for snapdragon wont work with wide angle and a few other issues, but give it a few weeks IMO

I use nightmode a 100% of the time :)

I use WhatsApp and Line cross platform and W10 is Android friendly and Phone companion works for msg and pics :)

Does what’s app work on a chromebook?

I have a MBA now but when that dies I’ll be going back to a chromebook.

So I killed the battery, very surprised by the numbers, I got almost 8hrs screen on time! It didn't feel like it was that good, so I wonder if daylight saving messed with the numbers. It did feel at least comparable with my iPhone XS in battery usage though, so that's good enough for me.

That's a fantastic result, I don't think there will be many complaints about battery life on these things. Today I really gave my phone a workout, used google maps for over an hour with the screen at maximum brightness as it was really sunny and my phone mounts on the window. A bunch of YouTube, a few phone calls and some Web browsing and im at 44% battery and 4.5 hours SOT. My s9 would be close to dead in the same conditions.

One issue I'm having is notifications seem to come in more when I unlock or wake screen up while on always on display notifications don't come through on time
Unfortunately that is an issue with all android phones caused by android doze to save battery. Even turning off battery optimisation for that app will not help. This puts me off android as I have several security apps that send push notifications but on android these can be delayed by up to 30 mins.

Well it seemed OK when I took my watch off and laid in bed but I guess least it doesn't bother me consistently as long as texts come through on time that's the main thing

Text, WhatsApp, messenger etc will all be fine as these are sent as ‘priority’. There is a way to disable doze mode via dab. Some say it actually improves battery but in theory should make it worse. If you use an email app such as outlook, make sure to disable battery optimisation for that app. Strangely gmail is one of the apps that gets delayed.
