I have a feeling Apple isn't adding split-screen until the iPad ceases to exist. Esepcially with the newly announced iPad Mini seeing a refresh. PiP works on the iPad just fine with some apps. Again, another planned move by Apple.

Absolutely. Apple won't introduce any of that to iPhone because they want to sell you an iPad too.

And to take it one step further, they don't want to offer multi account support on iPad because they want to sell you an iPad for each family member.

Precisely. I can't sit here and say it's not good business, but that doesn't mean consumers can't be frustrated by it.

I know this isn't the thread for it, but is anyone else a little confused by Apple's product lineup this year? I appreciate the mini staying largely the same design with everything upgraded that I wanted them to upgrade. It's a wonderful option for a home with children and teens as the other designs are too fragile. We definitely will be upgrading the household mini now that I know A12 will be in there. When the family and I do reach for an iPad, the mini is the one we prefer.

But looking at the whole of their lineup, it's very disjointed with the different connectors and design language. Is anyone in charge over there?

In other news, I decided to stick with my pre-order of the S10+. It is coming with all the pre order goodies for well under $488 and that's a deal that's hard to beat and the most worthy of the sacrifice of my beautiful S9+. I do hope Samsung sends me a phone as wonderful and flawless as the one I'm sending back to them.

I did keep Snowball to be my small pocket friendly phone, so I also decided a small Samsung would render her redundant and I didn't want to do that.

I know all fingers are made different and nothing is perfect, but after just a day or so of using the FPS on this phone, I can't understand what all of the (negative) fuss is about. I'd say I have somewhere around a 95% success rate with unlocking on the first try, and I still feel like I'm in that early learning stage. Granted, I turn the screen on with a double tap every time and haven't tried repeatedly unlocking with the screen turned off.

Well, it isn't perfect.
It's great if you're having a high success rate - it isn't my experience but it's liveable and just often takes more than one press (for me).

At this stage, I think everyone is seeing varying degrees of success and there doesn't seem to be any reasoning behind it for me.
Sometimes it works perfectly, other times I'm pressing three times.

Like I say, not a huge issue - but it's definitely a pain point for some people.

Agree GM. Apple's product lineup has regressed into the exact state of disarray that led to Jobs overhauling the product matrix into 4 quadrants when he returned 20 years ago. It's a straight up mess. I'm more tech savvy than most and it's giving me a headache keeping all the differences straight--can't imagine what typical consumers think.

I didn't mean for my comments to come across as degrading in any way towards others for the record. I'm just glad it's working great for me, but can certainly understand where others would have issues, just like anything else in life really.

That's why I ran out of patience with them and will be moving on. Their hubris is quite frustrating because they're able to maximize profits now and hurt their future longevity ever so slightly. If Apple continues this for another decade, they better get comfortable with criticism and see some market declines.

Sadly, some of their most loyal fans refuse to be objective and see their purchasing power has to be higher to stay "integrated into the ecosystem with the latest and greatest."

Wages are stagnant, inflation is higher, consumer purchasing power is lower, and the cost of living is exorbitant. I am not sharing ideals or turning this into a political discussion.

Just stating that the Samsungs, Apples of the world continue to push the envelope with pricing in general as do other OEMs. That's why I enjoy hearing about more cost effective items, such as the OnePlus 6T.

I never understood why wouldn't Apple exercise its fiduciary duty and legal duty to maximize profits now and balance long-term profitability together? Is it because there is no reason to considering that a large part of their consumers are loyal to a brand?

No not at all!
I was just saying that some of the negative reaction I've seen is sometimes warranted.
iJustine's video was a good example. She was trying everything and it just want working well for her.
I did feel for her in a weird way. :D

Are you saying Apple customers should see things the way you see them? It doesn’t appear that you're really being objective. How can you say 80 million people are wrong and you’re right?

That's strange. I've watched it a few times and it does look legit. Now I wait for the thousand news stories about it that are sure to follow, and the YouTube freakouts.

Not quite sure what's going on here but seems legit. Her left thumb unlocks the phone, despite only registering her right thumb.

Maybe it wasn’t unlocking but just opening back up after previous unlock? I mean, sometimes I unlock an Android device and it remains unlocked and I just need to open it back up again without re authenticating. Ugh I don’t know how to explain it. I just know a few times I could get back into my Samsung without unlocking it despite expecting it would be locked. It has to be a one two kind of thing. I can’t just set it on the table and walk off for a moment and come back and expect to get back in. We don’t really know how she has her phone set up.

But it clearly shows that either thumb works with the 'check fingerprint' feature and only one thumb has been registered.

Could it be possible that she used both thumbs upon the initial scan setup? So it's crossing information between two thumbs into one scan, thus a positive result on both.

The temptation is growing. I’m waiting iOS 13 beta to see what Apple’s going to bring but...
That's like June or July?

I've done that in the past, waited thinking they have to add more crucial functionality or customization.

Truth is, they don't. Even if they offered 50% of the customisation android has, it will take them years to perfect it. You'll likely be waiting until iOS 18 before anything meaningful...

Wow that's pretty good! I just noticed my Pixel 3XL is at 16% right now. What in the actual heck? Sigh. It will likely lose its job to the S10+ if it keeps this up. I have been on my iPhone for a good part of the day so...ugh.

Edit: .Oops my bad. I forgot to charge it last night .It's been running 23 hours with 5:54 screen on time. I owe Frosty an apology!

It was the Xr I pulled off the charger this morning.
