The only animation lag i get is in snapchat when i swipe left to bring up my friends list which has been there for as long as i can remember (App issue) I'm really sensitive to frame rate drops and i don't see any lag since installing One UI. I would say you probably just need a factory reset to give it a good "clean out"
Yes you're probably right about that. I think I'll skip it though since I plan to trade it in for the S10 within a month. Animation lag is such a minor thing and I did mitigate it by changing my settings.

I had not planned to preorder but can't pass up an opportunity to get top dollar for my old phone without having to deal with a buyer directly. There's certainly some risks associated with doing trade ins on Samsung's terms, but I'll take that option as preferable to the alternatives.

And I'll get the chance to use the wide angle lens on my next trip to anywhere interesting. Not that I have anything planned, but the moment I can get away for a day to the museum I am going. My husband and I managed to grab a very short trip away after wrangling some care for his parents during our short school holidays. We literally threw our bags in the car and ran for it. I even threw in the bags of laundry I was in the middle of doing!

I've been wanting a wide angle lens on the phone since I saw LG offer it and saw the kinds of pictures one could get from such a lens. It's going to be even better now, because it appears all of the manufacturers who use a wide angle lens have developed software that mitigates distortion. I am so excited about the wide angle lens alone! :D

Yeah i was going to say with the S10 release so close perhaps it not worth worrying about it. I've also wanted a Wide angle lens since LG first introduced it. I really think the S10 has all the ingredients to make a great phone, hopefully there are no big issues upon release. My S9+ is literally perfect so it's going to be hard to hand it in when i pick up my S10 :(

I'm really excited about this feature. It's one of the main features I like about LG phones but unfortunately, all their other "issues" make me not keep an LG phone for long. S10+ is shaping up to be a great phone and I will more than likely pre-order tomorrow.

The new folding phone is to be called the Galaxy Fold according to this article on Android Central

Scottish Fold cats take the news rather hard.

I hope so

I hope so...

I'd love an S10 but it'll be the note 10 for me.

The S10 looks mean, makes big notches look old IMO.
I don’t know how the double cut out really looks but the single hole punch is miles better than the current notch (Apple ,Google).

I’d rank them like this

Samsung S9+/Note 9
Tear drop notch/hole punch

The notch- Apple and google.

I might favour the single hole punch over the tear drop but need to see it properly.

Ugh. They are so beautiful. I wish the regular S10 was the same size as the S10 plus as I don’t care for the second selfie cam. That single hole punch design is better but the double is ok too. I wonder what it’s like when you watch videos. Better tucked away in the corner than in your face in the middle of the screen

Maybe it’s because in the comparison pic the iPhone is on a settings page but it looks ugly compared to the others lol
[doublepost=1550647752][/doublepost]Not long to go now. They have a count down on Samsung’s website. I was able to sign up on the UK website to get information about the S10 but I couldn’t reserve one o_O

lol, I wouldn't go as far as calling the iphone ugly :D, it just looks a little ...um.. old I guess, same with the mate 20 pro.

The notch isn't going to age well.

IMO, neither is the hole punch,it'll look old soon enough.
Once a more elegant solution is available, it'll be back to just screens.
I blame the selfie crowd, gimme all screen.

Yes the top range Ceramic ones should of had the option of no selfie cams for the pro model, then a near perfect option for me :)

I am excited to watch the event, even though i really don’t generally like Samsung phones.
Their ‘budget’ version of this phone with the exact same coloured backs as the XR is hilarious though.

That’ll feed the Apple fan boys / girls lovely :D.

If they stopped curving their screens, stopped trying to make Bixby a thing, and if Android videos didn’t look terrible for apps like Snap and Instagram (like, terrible) then my interest may be slightly higher.

I know some you tubers have said those apps being so bad compared to iPhone is why they will always carry an iPhone

Generally for me all the main apps I use are better on iPhone which is an issue when it comes to android

I don’t use Snapchat and Instagram I use but only to browse. Most of the third party apps I use are ok on android. It will just be finding replacements for the stock Apple apps that I use and loosing the integration with the rest of the ecosystem that would be the main issue for me.

I think ecosystem wise it’s ok I’ve you replace it with Samsung products which is what I would need to do

Phone
Galaxy watch
Galaxy buds
Tab tablet

I couldn’t just buy one product

Photo integration for me would be the issue moving away from apple. It syncs perfectly and I hate google photos

When it comes to watch/air pods/iPad that’s where apple is miles ahead imo and losing that is something I struggle to come to terms with

Even if the Samsung phones are fantastic and do more than the iPhone.

The performance and smoothness of apps is still a big deal for me

My Fiancée has the S8 and when using hers and going back to my max I just like the feel of the iPhone better software wise even though I lose
Always on display
Spilt screen apps
Secret folder
On screen widgets
Window in window

All great features that I wish I had

I know you went back to the iPhone from the S9 and note 9.

Do you see yourself doing the same or is this it you’re going to stick with the Samsung line?

I know these events make things tempting to switch but if we end up going back to what we like best is it worth switching? Tough I know

This is the same for me. Pixel is the only Android that this doesn’t happen on as they changed something with the camera in that phone which means videos taken in thirds part apps like WhatsApp, snap, insta etc, all look as if they were taken from the main camera - as per iPhone.

And I use a lot of apps where the Android counterpart is garbage. Namely, my BMW app which i use daily, my banking app (it doesn’t support any form of biometric ID, you have to use a passcode), and social media apps.
They’re just not as good.

But as I’ve already said, iPhone has its share of problems with apps. There are a number of apps that still bring up the resolution of an iPhone 5 with the old keypad!
So there’s no perfect solution. But for my needs, iPhones apps have always been better.

I never switched. I had the S9 plus, note 8 and S7 edge at the same time as I had my iPhones. The problem I had then was that I couldn’t use two phones at the same time but I can’t say I wouldn’t switch back to the iPhone if I switched to the s10 plus. I would want to keep my iPads, Mac and Apple TV as they are better products imo. The issue would then be that S10 wouldn’t integrate with any of that stuff.

Well yeah that’s the issue, I think apple could do something great with IOS 13 with comparable features and of the new iPhone has the same reverse changing features that would be ideal

I just hope the S10 has good improvements wort the camera as I think it’s falling behind both pixel and iPhone lately

I agree about the camera and the Xs max has a really good camera now. The S7 edge had a great camera. Better than the 6S plus I had at the time and even the 7 plus I got afterwards. The note 8 was alright probably as good as my 7 plus I had at the time but the X I got after had a better camera. The X had a better camera that the S9 plus. I’m also concerned about a loss in camera quality particularly as the one on the Xs max is really good now.

I don’t think iOS 13 will have comparable features but I would take split screen apps and a change to the home screen layout for now.
