never had a samsung phone...is the ui that bad? I'm a fan of the stock pixel android, but clearly this phone spec wise is better than pixel 5. maybe i'll compare oneplus 8 vs fe20

UI is awesome. My last Samsung device was the S6. Now I've got a A71 and the software is excellent. Love it.

Plus Goodlock has lots of customization.

It's nowhere near stock android. It's as far away as any UI could be. Just to manage expectations.

Samsung's One UI is a huge improvement over the old TouchWiz. I wasn't really a Samsung fan in the past, but One UI won me over and I'm a fan. It's full of features but a lot cleaner than the Chinese skins.

Stock Android, imo, is overhyped at this point. Stock Android was the best when all the OEMs skins were at their infancy. However, today, imo stock Android has also becoming less focused and "cluttered" as Google keep changing things here and there just for the sake of change. Meanwhile, Samsung with their One UI is now more focused and consistent.

I prefer it to stock Android, and yes, I see some ads in the notifications panel, but you can disable them.
Wait, ads? On Samsung One UI? I don't see any ads on mine. The closest thing to an ad is the security section in Device Care about McAffee.

It's definitely more Android than the likes of the Chinese skins like MiUI/eMUI/FunTouchOS/etc, which are trying to be more like iOS.
Yes but the question was whether it's like stock. Which is isn't at all.

I get Samsung ads from time to time, of their products. Maybe I checked some option a while ago.

People planning on buying a new iPhone won't give 2 ***** what Samsung release. These phones are competition for similarly priced/specced Android devices and people who don't want to pay ridiculous flagship prices.
Correct and these do sound great. However still too big for my liking and I don't want to pay even $700 lol. But you do get a lot in this phone.
Think I'd wait till black Friday deals if I were looking for one of these or a Pixel 5.

I'd probably go with white or orange. Gets a case so don't really matter.
Is this an edge phone? I don't care for the edge on these either. Prefer flat.

Samsung software is leagues better than it was years ago. It's actually a decently pleasurable experience now. A bit much, but pleasant for the most part.

They give you everything but the kitchen sink but at least you can choose to use it or not.

I agree. Android as a mobile OS is quite good. I don't like the "material design" of Android apps, though. Lots of squared off edges and boxy looking controls that I am not crazy about.
