Wow. I guess Samsung doesn’t want my preorder. Biggest cluster you know what I’ve ever tried to do. I’m going to try again this time on my iPhone. But apparently the trade in value for my Note is only $700 if I buy an unlocked Samsung. If I want an AT&T version it’s gotta be financed through them for me to get the $700 for my Note. None of the credits I’m promised was applied to my accessories. They suck. Their site sucks. Jeez.

Just pre ordered the S20 Ultra in black. Minus $600 for trade in of the S10+

Also used the $200 credit towards the Active 2 watch and buds+ bundle, which I had to pay the $175 difference.

Total came out to $1,273.87 after taxes.

Stupid CC fraud dept decline my first try, and I had to wait several minutes after confirming it's me. That pushed my delivery date to March 10, it was March 3 at my initial try. Hopefully it gets to me sooner.

These falks are the expert. They've been reviewing cameras for over 20 years.

Hey Big Spender! My bill was only $371. $700 for my Note 10+, which just slid off the nightstand and hit the floor.

I got the pink S20 unlocked. I’m on AT&T so no WiFi calling for me. I guess that’s not a big deal because my iPhone does it. I’m not sure how updates will roll to me. They never came to my unlocked S7.

I got a rugged case and a pink wallet case.

My credit card company must be used to me buying phones by now. They never give me a hard time anymore.

I guess if I was going unlocked anyway I could have got 512 GB Ultra. I’m not sure if that was an option at all in the US. Whatever. The temptation to go big was there but I really started on this at all to downsize. They finally made a smallish phone with a big battery. I had to go for it.

I went with T-mobile version. Their software allows me to unlock the phone right away. Plus there's very little bloatware.

lol 100x looks horrendous

It really does, it’s more of a cool factor though and something to show off. Nobody would use this in normal use and why on earth would they have 100x zoom on the back of the phone? Makes no sense…maybe marketing I guess but it’s not a feature that’s really ready when the quality is that bad.

True but 4x looks awesome , 5x optical zoom is still pretty useful.
yeah all the other zooms look good.

U.S.
Pre-ordered S20+ in black, got the Buds+ for free using the $150 credit. Trade in of $600 for Pixel 4 XL applied no problem. I ordered the unlocked model. In the U.S. does the unlocked model get updates at the same time / as often as the carrier (in my case Verizon) models?

Why videos? Surely they'll be too shaky for anything decent.

We seem to be forgiving with average video quality, some of the videos I've seen on youtube look great when zooming on aircraft etc, absolutely fine for a video from a phone, well, better than any other phone out there.
Shake can be mitigated, tripods, gimbals etc..

For photos, well they're not going to look good at all, at least not at 100x.

I'd post the videos but I can't tell for sure whether they really are the S20 ultra or some click bait using another device.
If you look, you'll find the videos.
It won't be long until there will be tons of videos confirming whether what I saw was true or not

I am on Verizon but order the unlocked version from Samsung due to $700 trade in and also accessories credit. Will I lose any features by getting unlocked?

My husband has his preorder in. He’s going for an unlocked Ultra but I don’t know the details beyond that. And he’s getting the earbuds.

I’m getting a bit twitchy that I went for the S20 and not the Ultra. But I found it hard to take my Note 10+ anywhere interesting with me. Even the S20+ was pushing it. So, I’ll give Pinky a chance.

Finally got my hands on the s20 series today...

Honestly if a phone is going to be worth $1400 it's the Ultra. It doesn't have a single weakness and the screen is insane. With that said, if you already have a Note 10 plus I'm not sure it's worth the upgrade. And after seeing the Ultra in person I don't see how Samsung is going to justify the Note other than the Spen. From a hardware standpoint there's nothing they can significantly improve other than better biometrics.

With that said, it felt a little bland. The device itself is pretty boring and plain looking. Samsung UI felt really smooth but nothing special. I could try out the cameras too much because the device was tethered but it took fast sharp pictures. It all felt very iPhone like, which is not to say a bad thing.

I will say the s20 plus felt very sleek for such a big phone. If you don't need the insane cameras on the Ultra the S20 plus looks like a great value with the trade ins.

I placed an order for the Ultra in 128GB but I might cancel depending on what the reviews say. My guess would be that the Ultra is easily the best Android phone right now but I'm not sure the cameras will be the giant leap forward everyone is expecting.
