Bummer. Well, safe travels to you. Thursday will come soon enough.

Every time I find myself on pins and needles waiting for something I stop and remember I’m actually wishing for the remaining days of my life to pass quicker which means I’m sort of wishing to be older sooner. . But then the moment passes and I’m back to stalking my phone on FedEx.
Oh yeah. And I'll be so busy in meetings all week that I won't even really be thinking about it.

If I was going for one of these, it would definitely be the regular S20.

But my Z Flip is cooler than the S20 :p so I'm good!

This was an interesting video. Hopefully that update sorts some of this out.

Yeah I think the update will address a lot of things. I was trying an Ultra out at Best Buy and the pictures were coming out horrible. There's no way they won't address it. Not worried.

I didn't post it to worry people. It's more a video to showcase how capable the regular S20 actually is.
Clearly it's a reliable snapper which is great for people who don't want to carry a massive device like the Ultra is. And for those who may not have the money to fork out for an Ultra!

Looks like Samsung have a lot of good choice for people at the moment. :)

Like Ice universe already wrote, the Sony imx 555 is simply the better sensor, size is not all.

There is no reason for me to buy the ultra, S20+ has the best value, I don’t need 100x Space Zoom aka oil painting mode.

It’s not that it’s a better sensor, it’s just that they have the smaller Sony sensors dialed in with the software. It’s going to take a while for Samsung to dial in the new sensors on the Ultra. I expect the camera to be really good in 2 or 3 more updates. If people don’t want to wait for that or don’t think it’ll improve much, I don’t blame them for picking the 20 plus.

So...anyone get their phone today and had a chance to play with it yet?

MKBHD review is out. Pretty comprehensive and in line with everything else we’ve heard.

Basically, the phone is a beast in almost every way but the camera still lags behind the Pixel and iPhone in its current state due to Samsung struggling with the new sensors. But he does end it with this is his new everyday phone and he expects updates to fix the autofocus issues soon.

Yeah i just saw it, he was pretty brutal towards the Camera on the Ultra. It's such a shame that Samsung just can't get the software right. We shall see if the upcoming patch fixes a lot of the issues.

Eh I don’t think he was that harsh on it. Echos what others have said. Best zoom quality of any smartphone. Regular and low light struggle a little. Regular is mostly due to the new sensor and narrow field of view not being tuned yet with software. It’ll get better.

I’m just not sure I’ll keep the Ultra because if the cameras aren’t clearly better than iPhone and Pixel then I’m fine with the S20 plus being still pretty good.

Loving the S20+ so far. First time I've ever used smart switch to import data from my iPhone and it was painless. Got the March update as soon as I began setup. Verizon wifi calling and VoLTE all work. Can't set up call filter app but my account says it's enabled so I guess it is functional?

Phone is so easy to hold and feels great. No bad pixels that I can see and white uniformity etc. is perfect. I have 120hz enabled and it's great. I have my SIM in the phone and will start full time daily driver use tomorrow, don't have a fair estimate of battery yet.

Also will probably need to get a new 5G compatible SIM from Verizon. Hope I don't get charged a BS activation fee for that.

Excited to read everyone's impressions once phones start arriving!

Sadly the software will always be Samsung’s downfall even if the hardware is great

Watching a recent video it’s amazing how many things you need to do to switch on or off when you set it up...that for me is not good even if options are good not when it’s not easy to get your head around to do

Don't Samsung count units shipped from factory to retailers etc as sales too?

I don’t get the whole hardware is great? Their all big slabs of glass now with camera bumps and buttons, especially no different when a case goes on.

It’s the features with the hardware not the design or the look. Samsung will always have the most features out the gate as they are known to see what sticks and what doesn’t. There’s no holding back or testing they just throw it out there for the spec sheet. A lot works well but then there’s others which may seem like gimmicks but they will always be that kind of company which isn’t a bad thing

Personally I think the XS Max takes the best photos and that includes the Pixel, I'm an Android guy but I always give credit where it is due and Apple did a great job there. If they add a better zoom and improved night mode they would have a near perfect camera setup. With that said Samsung have come a long way overall, it was not that long ago that Samsung phones were known for being laggy and having the worst Android skin. From all reports the S20 line is still incredibly good especially with that 120hz display which sets it apart.

sadly...software holds my 11 pro max back as well. IOS is too restrictive and well just too behind the times compared to Android. It lacks basic customization because Apple decided to keep a row of icons to distinguish their brand more than give people a choice. Apple decides what you phone should look like not the other way around. The hardware is great and refined...but the software holds it back.

So for MKBHD the Ultra Camera is still Third Place behind Pixel and iPhone and even after Software Updates will close the gap, still third place he said.

This is not what i expected for the Ultra and it's high price.

I think Samsung will never overtake Google and Apple because of the of their lack in Software Optimization.
They had a 6 months lead and are still behind the 2019 Camera Flagships.

This is sadly not enough to leave my iPhone 11 Pro for...

Disagree....Samsung's One UI is better than it has ever been through testing and giving the customer what they wanted. Every review so far so far has praised the new look.

Then is Apple better? IOS is soooo buggy all the time! Even with all the beta testing bugs still persist. Do they not QA products at all? I mean everyone knows to not buy the new release iPhones and instead wait for the "s" model to comeout because they will have the bugs worked out :)
I think you're just being brand loyal to be honest.
