Yeah I got it the day it dropped, I posted about it in this thread 4 posts above yours.

With the update, Is AOD now persistent when you get notification?

This has been a shortcoming with current UI when display would turn off even on getting new notifications.

I’m just mimicking you.. sharing the news as you do. I don’t have a S21 phone nor a Fold 3, so I haven’t experienced it. But I have been following the news on OneUI 4.0 and getting an idea of what features to expect. As far as I know I won’t experience OneUI 4.0 until January or February for my Fold 2.

It has just arrived on my regular S21.

I can confirm that this has been sorted out. No need for third party apps anymore.

Question for all owners of S21 and recent Samsung flagships:

Are you happy with how notifications are handled in Android and Samsung phones?

Recently I've been missing the iPhone function that turns the screen on when any notification arrives. Found an app that does this in Android, but only for 5 seconds, instead of the 10 of the iPhone I think. Everything else I like about Samsung, but I do notice that e-mails show up later than with my iPad, for example.

Does anyone know a way to make OneUI 3.1 or Samsung phones turn the screen on when notifications arrive better than the app I found?

Thanks!

This has now been solved with the just released OneUI incase you still were looking for a solution.

But for that the screen must be turned on always with AOD, right?

It’s not exactly what the iPhone does. I don’t want the screen to be on 24/7.

It only lights up when there are new messages.

If you lift up your phone to check them out or you dismiss them the display turns off.

I don’t know if there is anything better than that unless one just has a preference for an iPhone.

I finally got the update for Android 12. I wish I was as smart as some of you when it comes to decorating my phone. I feel so basic.

I also find setting up a video of your choice as a call screen one of the unique customization options worthy of exploring.

Quite different from iPhone experience.

So at the moment with Black Friday deals and my work perks, I can get the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic for £249. Anyone think this is a good deal to pair with the S21 Ultra? I’m waiting for the S22 Ultra, simply because of the rumours that it will be a Note, in all but it’s name. So I know I will be sticking with Samsung at least as a secondary device.

I do also wonder what the Pre-order deals will be for the S22 range, simply because the Galaxy buds are also on sale and I’m thinking of going all in and getting those as well, to use with my current S21 Ultra.

I enjoy having my Watch 4 Classic paired with my Fold2.. from notifications, using it as a remote to control audio. Or leaving my Fold2 to go on a run while listening to podcasts. I’m anxiously waiting for Google Assistant support… should come soon. I’m not holding my breath for Apple Music on WearOS3, I been trying to use YT Music with my Watch 4… but it’s not as feature rich as I would like.

But if I’m not mistaken, you have an iPhone with an Apple Watch? Not sure why you get a smartwatch to pair with a device you use secondarily.

Yes I do, the only reason I’m thinking of getting the Watch 4, is because when the S22 Ultra comes out, I may go all in and have that as my main phone. Just lately I have been using my S21 Ultra more and more. If I do decide to do that, I doubt the Watch 4 will be available for the same price.

Using the S21 Ultra more compared to the iPhone… interesting. But if you plan on using S22 Ultra as your main phone… then obviously, it makes sense to pair it with a smartwatch. And I paid full retail, I didn’t take advantage of any benefits. IMO, I think it’s the best smartwatch out there.

I like the hardware design… WearOS 3 is solid (hoping for more improvements), it’s crazy how much customization I have with the WatchFaces. I’m using both Samsung Health and Google Fit, I lean toward using Google Fit… but they both are dependable.

Yea I’m using WhatsApp on it more and more, I’ve even downloaded Spotify so I can listen to music on there as well as my Apple Music account. I’m using the camera more too and I’m finding the battery life really good.

The reason I’m saying about the S22 Ultra, even tho it’s not even been announced yet, is because of the leak that it will basically it will be a Note in all but name. That’s what I want! I’m in the U.K. and loved the Note 20 Ultra, but the battery life was terrible. All I want is a Note, with the battery life of the S21 Ultra. It sound like the S22 Ultra will be that.

Yeah, I have been following news regarding that. Heck, I've been following any news regarding Samsung and Android at this point... now that I have Galaxy phone. I've been waiting for Samsung to converge both the S and Note line, since both are fairly similar devices.

But you'll definitely enjoy the Watch4... I'll say go for it, especially with it being discounted.

My guess is new buds will be part of pre order package

Samsung not long came out with the Buds 2, maybe they will be offered for free as part of the pre-order. For the first time, I’m actually looking forward to Samsung announcing the new phones.

Fingers crossed there will be good trade in offers for the S21 Ultra, towards the S22 Ultra.

I’m sure they will have a pro buds out again i know it was rumoured before it could be out around the same time. I’m sure there will be maybe £700 trade in from s21 ultra maybe or at worse 650.

i will certainly be ordering s22 ultra. Just not sure on what storage yet. I was using 49% on my s21 ultra last time i looked so dunno if to go 512GB this time. I have 131GB left on my 256GB 13 pro max.
