Day 2 and still experiencing some PWM effects unfortunately on my Ultra. I'm at really low light now so it's probably not helping. I tried Googling and found one site which claims to have measured the PWM on the Ultra and it's off the charts at low brightness levels. Not sure if the site is legit but it seems to line up with my issues.
PWM display Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra at low brightness levels off scale Last week was remembered by many for the announcement of the flagship series Samsung Galaxy S21. What is the power of new products? First of all, in performance, displays and cameras, which should allow you to take...

As I said earlier, I'll keep using the phone a few more days (if I can handle it).
Aww man that is bad news. Even for people who aren’t sensitive, I saw an article that someone posted to the iPhone section that says this stuff is bad for our eyes and can permanently degrade our vision. But the article didn’t cite any specific studies and was posted by one of the monitor companies, so...there’s a caveat to that.
My husband has been busy setting his phone up so I haven’t gotten to evaluate the pwm effect on my vision and sensitivity. I did think my s20 display was easier to focus on. I don’t know if this is something Samsung can and would adjust if enough people complain.
Unfortunately the cancel option disappeared for my order yesterday. So even if I evaluate my husband’s phone and have problems I can’t cancel before my order gets here. Every year, they treat these orders differently. Last two years they wouldn’t ship my order out until they would receive and process his trade in.
So I’m caught without the evaluation cushion time I thought I’d get by delaying my order-with-trade-in after his.
My 12 Pro Max isn’t exactly a treat to people with pwm sensitivity and some other forum members can’t own it at all. I manage and even have read e-books on it. Every year that I get away from the hormonal sh** show that was menopause, the easier this sort of thing becomes to tolerate regarding triggering my atypical migraines.
However, I still can not speak normally. I’ve had enough of those migraines that I’ve apparently got permanent damage to the speech center of my brain. I have clear, concise thoughts in my head, but I can’t convey them in speech. Instead, I have simplistic speech patterns like Trump did. The in-depth, nuanced conversations I have on this forum, I’m simply not capable of in person with friends and family. Fortunately they’re all too busy to notice! We all sort of grunt at each other in passing as we frantically try to finish our respective work.
And what’s worse, I’m noticing more and more people with the same messed up speech. These are younger people that can’t finish a sentence. My husband is getting this way, too. My friends are. My kids stuck looking at screens all day for remote learning have headaches and vertigo. At least now I don’t have to be self conscious but this isn’t something I’d wish on anyone else, ever.
If our tech is scrambling our brains this way and there is no solid research or regulation, we could see another generation damaged by tech addiction the way previous generations innocently and unknowingly had their lives shortened and their health damaged by smoking and their nicotine addiction.
I’m sorry you’re suffering this way. What phones do you have that don’t bother you?
