Imo for laptops, the main thing is battery life. Let's see how many real life hours these laptops can give. Battery life is the reason I'm considering switching from Windows to an M1 Mac laptop. Any Windows laptops I have used never go beyond the traditional 4 to 5 hours real life runtime of battery life.
The Evo standard has placed many new laptops well in the +10 hrs use and Samsung Book S is well in the teens as it is also arm powered plus the mighty MS SB2 has been a battery king for years

When I owned the S21 Ultra, I hated when it became Apple vs Samsung convo, but...I will say based on the recent conversation that something to consider is how seamless picking up my M1 MacBook Air is when I get sick of typing messages on my phone. I had 4 active conversations going and my thumb was starting to hurt so just picked up the MacBook and started typing. I know other platforms have ways to achieve this but nothing comes close to how Apple does it.
I don't like windows but if I didnt have any issues with it I would have no issues buying one or the new samsung laptops.

Lets be honest, when it comes to performance, whether on a phone or high end laptop, the difference is not noticeable for 99% of the population. In everyday use, you dont notice the difference between a top tier Snapdragon vs the top A# Bionic chip. Same goes for the M1 and an Intel i7. Once they reach the point where they can easily handle whatever you throw at them with normal use, it really becomes just about spec boasting unless you frequently do heavy gaming or video editing.
I agreed. I think I reached that point with my devices in 2014/2015. Now it's just diminishing returns for me in terms of speed and performance.

The only argument that I guess can be bad is device longevity. Maybe if someone plans on keeping a device 4-5 years the extra power will come in handy around that time. But to be honest, I dont keep many devices that long.

I agree on phones. Even the iPhone 7 is still perfectly usable today, and any mid range Android nowadays offer perfectly fine user experience. However for laptops, there's battery life that has been a struggle for Intel machines. I agree that pure performance is no longer an issue, but efficiency and battery life still give an edge for M1 over anything Intel offers.

Like how my 6 month old work computer that retails for $1,000 only gives me about 5 hours battery life now?

But not over what Samsung offers or even Lenovo who have had arm chips laptops much longer than Apple, but the M1 is a very capable device especially if you like MacOS etc

Ah, ok. Also I think the app that the user above is looking for would be Glimpse Notifications.

That app will turn on the actual lock screen and if you have "show details" set for lock screen notifications, will essentially mimic iOS.

Edit: also Glimpse has a setting that will allow you to keep the screen on for 10 seconds. And it adds a quick toggle button in the notification shade (whatever the actual name of those buttons up there are called).

Today aodNotify had the following update

Hopefully now satisfying what others been looking for?

What, why and how much? Ha. Thoughts?

Ha been tempted for a while and it was £100 off not a lot but enough to make me go for it

Picked it up on my lunch break so only just been able to put my work sim in it and downloaded WhatsApp. Will do the rest when I get home.

Still don’t know where to start settings wise lol but will try and download all the apps I normally use on my iPhone

It’s not relaxing my pro max but more a side by side and I will use it for work calls so be interesting how battery will be

Think there’s an update on it so will do that first when I get home

It had to happen.

At the moment to be truly honest impending iPhone 13 is looking like more of the same again this year and if you are one deciding between these two rivals, Samsung may just be offering that edge design wise.

Basically the ultra has all the things my iPhone is missing. It’s as close to perfect spec wise as you can get. Having best of both worlds makes sense to me.

iPhone this year should have 120hz, hopefully Touch ID and AOD but be interesting what else it adds though.

I can totally relate matey!

I have gone back to the S21 Ultra (again)!

Returned the S21+ although it was an amazing device in itself, I missed the Ultra experience.

So now wife and I are both using S21 Ultra devices.

Ha good choice, it’s a great device and I think Samsung have finally got things right. Still have my main sim in the iPhone for ecosystem reasons

Yes it’s always a bit difficult to totally abandon the iPhone due to those well elaborated ecosystem constraints.

So side by side can be a compromise to enjoy both worlds.

As for me to even imagine getting excited about iPhone getting AOD and higher refresh is kind of lethargic at this point in time.

The next big thing now is to get as near to all screen as possible. In other words kill the notch. Whenever that will be ready.

And yikes, the ever bulging stove cameras also get me second guessing the iPhone design as well.

Yeah the things we are excited about we have on android with the ultra now. Blessed that I can have both the pro max and ultra.

Obviously now I have the ultra to get a moon photo is a must I guess for one time only I guess ha
