Yes, even a sunbeam heats up my phone to the point that I can't use it at all. I was listening to music and driving around for ten minutes today and my phone was heated up to the point that it was acting up. Granted, it has been in the 90s today, but still. Ten minutes of heat exposure shouldn't render a phone useless.I have an old car, too. It’s almost 30!!! I have two other vehicles in my name but they’re old, too. Not three decades old, but old enough so I’m basically in the same situation as you.
Sorry to hear your iphone is heating up, too. The first time I ever ran across this was when I got my 7 Plus. That phone was a surprise Christmas gift.
I loved that phone, loved that it was a surprise gift, and so I planned to keep it for 2 years or more. But there were two iOS updates that it got soon after I got it and then it just started getting all kinds of issues. It overheated a lot. The battery died fast. I forget what all it did wrong but those updates seemed to ruin it. So when the warranty was up I got the 8 plus. That year I did have some overheating with an S7 that replaced my Note 7. That was not a good year for me with phones!
My Pixel 3 does heat up quite a bit. I’m not sure what’s going on with that.
But with iPhone I worry it’s iOS. I’ve had stuff like this happen with my iPad mini before, too. So I can’t believe it’s all hardware related.
But some of it may be. I do know when a sunbeam hits any of my iPhones they heat up immediately.
Time in the sun is irrelevant, if the internal temperature of your phone gets too hot it'll regulate itself by switching off cores. It’s not quite irrelevant. I’m experiencing the odd issue of using the phones in very cool ambient temperatures, air conditioned, 70F. But if sun hits the phone, and I found the other day the phone doesn’t even have to even be in use!!! it starts to heat up shockingly fast in a beam of sunlight. By shockingly fast I’m talking about 40 secondsTime in the sun is irrelevant, if the internal temperature of your phone gets too hot it'll regulate itself by switching off cores. Heat is the enemy.
I've has the S8, S10+ and S20+ and they all did that. This is normal for Samsung phones. I also remember my first iPhone X doing that but instead of pink it was green.I returned mine, the color shift when ever so slightly changing the viewing angel was terrible.
That’s funny since I’ve owned Note series 3, 4, 9and now 20 and none did.I've has the S8, S10+ and S20+ and they all did that. This is normal for Samsung phones. I also remember my first iPhone X doing that but instead of pink it was green.
One thing I’ve been trying to figure out with Apple lately: overheating. I’ve owned five iPhone 12’s so far: 12 Pro (returned) iPhone 12 (returned) 12 Pro Max (kept) 12 mini green (kept) 12 mini purple (new baby). Also thinking back to my previous 11 Pro, which was problematic. They all have overheated for no apparent reason and needed to be rebooted and cooled off. Cases had to be removed to speed cooling. It would happen in any case or no case at all. I don’t know if this is a hardware issue or IOS but it’s cheesing me off.
My s21 Ultra has been fine and only warms up during extensive camera use. It can get very warm but not alarmingly piping hot like my iPhones.
I definitely need to keep an iPhone and remain in the “ecosystem” but what is going on with iOS these days? Also the displays this year have been a hot mess. My new 12 mini is flawless as is my s21 Ultra display. My 12 pro max and my green mini displays look okay in bright light but have issues in darkness with some crazy glow in the dark stuff going on.
I’ll probably trade those two off but not during pre order. I’m not in any rush to get rid of them. I want to see what the issues with the 13 are.
Nearly-Perfect purple 12 mini is permanently here and will someday join Snowball (Pixel 2) and my HTC 10 and my tiny iPhone SE in the retirement drawer.
can you make it sync only new and/or modified files only?Smart switch really is great and improved since last time I used it. Managed to trwvsfer all my photos via icloud and done so much better than needing to plug in. Granted the photos and video has took all my storage pretty much but great to know its so easy like the fact you can transfer last 30 days photos as well and all pdfs etc
Certainly makes things easier with moving information over more than ever now
You can do it from past 30 days, 3 months, 6 months, 1 year or allcan you make it sync only new and/or modified files only?
the few times that i have used it seems to copy everything including what i already have saved on my mac and that tends to chew up space on the hard drive and that forces you to manually delete the older backups each time

I agree. I moved almost two years ago for the boring reason as well as cost and desire to try Android. Still enjoying the experience of my Samsung Galaxy S10e.Personally I have moved from iPhone because it has became just “boring” design wise.
I just put the article as a technical debate.
But high end samsung phones are just as expensive at launch as flagship iPhones. So, according to that article... cost is the biggest reason iPhone users switch to Android. I mean, it does makes sense... but there's ways to find more affordable deals on refurbished or used iPhones.
I think the biggest reason is some just want a change. So, according to that article... cost is the biggest reason iPhone users switch to Android. I mean, it does makes sense... but there's ways to find more affordable deals on refurbished or used iPhones.
I totally agree with that. Price is a factor... but it isn't the biggest reason. I moved away from the iPhone and I purchased an Android phone with a larger price tag than the iPhone.I think the biggest reason is some just want a change.
