Not sure why you would be tempted. I think users who gravitated toward the S21U over the Fold were largely due to the camera and the same might apply to the Fold 3.I'm curious as to how much Samsung will offer for the S21 Ultra trade in towards a Fold 3. If they offer $1000, I might be tempted.

Rumors suggest that the Fold 3 camera tech isn’t as great compared to the S21U.
Camera isnt as important to me. Its important, but not top priority.
S21 users.
I just bought a Sandisk dual drive, with USB Type-A on one end and USB Type C on the other end. When I plug the USB-C end to my S21, nothing happens. The S21 just doesn't recognize it. I have gone to developer settings, tried various USB transfer modes, nothing.
I plug the Sandisk to my Poco X3 and it's recognized just fine, right away.
Does anybody have any idea? I have even tried safe mode on my S21, and still nothing. The S21 itself charges and detected by my PC just fine, so I assume the USB-C port is fine.
Oh, so the S21 requires the OTG adapter to enable OTG function? That's a bit weird... The reason I bought the Sandisk dual drive is due to the USB-C plug so I thought I could plug it in directly on the S21.
Isn't the drive showing if you go in to "My Files"?S21 users.

Haven't seen the vid, but S21 has OTG support... I have a SanDisk dual drive, works for my Fold.Oh, so the S21 requires the OTG adapter to enable OTG function? That's a bit weird... That's the thing, it doesn't.Isn't the drive showing if you go in to "My Files"?
That's what I was expecting as well, but it doesn't work on my S21. That's why I'm trying to figure out what's going on.Haven't seen the vid, but S21 has OTG support... I have a SanDisk dual drive, works for my Fold.
Not entirely sure why it's not working... normally when I plug in my drive, I go into My Files app and it shows up immediately.
Is your Fold running OneUI 3.1 Android 11? Trying to see if it's Android 11 issue.Haven't seen the vid, but S21 has OTG support... I have a SanDisk dual drive, works for my Fold.

Yes, running OneUI 3.1 Android 11. What is your My Files version? It recently received an update. Is your Fold running OneUI 3.1 Android 11? Trying to see if it's Android 11 issue.
The issue is that the Sandisk is not even detected, so any File managers, including Sandisk's own app, don't see it.Yes, running OneUI 3.1 Android 11. What is your My Files version? It recently received an update.
And have you looked into different File Managers? But it is odd that it works when you plug it into a different Android phone.
i wouldn't get too worked up by it.The issue is that the Sandisk is not even detected, so any File managers, including Sandisk's own app, don't see it.
I have been Googling the issue for the past few days, and there are anecdotal comments of similar issue from people with devices ranging from the S9 to Note 10, and none of them had any meaningful resolution. There is a somewhat pattern that people who had the issue were those who just upgraded OneUI (eg. from OneUI 2 to 3). But the S21 has not had a major Android upgrade yet...
The USB-C port on my S21 functions perfectly fine for audio and charging, so I don't think it's the port. And the flash drive works perfectly on my Poco X3 and my laptop, so it's not the drive. I tried reformatting it using my PC and the Poco, still the same. One thing left that I have not tried is to use a USB-C OTG adapter since I don't have that. If the S21 requires the OTG adapter, it would defeat the purpose of getting the dual drive with the USB-C plug.
Yeah, a different brand could work. But I don't see how the drive could not be recognized... unless there's a label that specifies that this drive only works with such and such. Then I'll be puzzled just as much as @ian87wi wouldn't get too worked up by it.
try a different brand flashdrive whenever you get it
these things happen even with ordinary computers where a drive can be recognized on one but not the other for various reasons
To update my USB OTG issue, I tried an HP USB-C dongle that came from an HP laptop. It has USB-A, USB-C, and HDMI ports on it. After plugging the dongle to my S21, and then plug the Sandisk dual drive to either the USB-A or USB-C ports, it is detected properly by my S21. So basically the S21 requires an adapter/dongle to force itself to power up the connected devices. Not sure if this is model specific, but mine is the Exynos version.Yeah, a different brand could work. I'm guessing the Fold USB-C port might be configured a bit differently in terms of power delivery, or maybe it's a snapdragon SoC capability vs Exynos.
It could be that for some reason, my SanDisk cannot negotiate power appropriately with my S21. The S21 put out notification about USB charging when the USB dongle is connected.I have a standard S21 and it works directly with my “lesser known brand” Ugreen 32G USB C/USB A flash drive
